I walked over on my lunch break and ordered a gilled chicken sandwich, with honey-Dijon sauce on it to go. They werent all that busy but it took about half an hour to get my order. I walked back to my office and opened the box. Realizing something was off, I tried the sauce. It was orange and tasted like straight tabasco sauce, not like honey or Dijon or any combination thereof. I took it back, only to find out that their version of honey Dijon is really hot. Since I now had about 10 minutes left on my break, I did not have time to wait another half hour for a new sandwich, so the gal said she would void the transaction. I have been watching my account patiently, but the transaction is still there. So I wasted an hour for a sandwich too spicy to eat, and its still on my account. Slow service, and it seems silly to have a honey-Dijon sauce that tastes like neither. If youre in a hurry, this is not the place to go.

One star for good food. TERRIBLE service. This is the fourth, and last, time we have tried Chicken Coop. Thought the new location would be better, but its the same terrible service with rude staff. Waitress, Brooke, was not friendly and quite rude to be honest. Waited 20 mins for drink refills and the waitress only took half the tables, 10 people, order and we had to track her down to ask if the other half of the table could order. Food is good, but its nothing you can't get anywhere else. I could go on and on, but to keep it plain and simple, I would NOT recommend it unless you want to have a miserable dining experience.

For being named the Chicken Coop (Urbandale) the wings are small, dry and not even close to being worth $8.00 for 12 wings. The service was really good the first time I went there but the 2nd time it was just average. They are very proud of their beer prices at $14 pitcher of Blue Moon when I was told $8 for “domestics” and $12 for "imports”. I guess that the Blue Moon was imported in from Colorado??? A bottle of beer is $3.75 which seems high for a place that you go out of you way to get to, but what do I know. I will give this place one more try but no wings for me and I will make sure to just have water or a soda.

We were traveling through IA on our way home to NE and searched the Web to find a place to watch the Huskers bowl game. This bar advertised themselves as a Husker bar with owners from Kearney, NE. When the game started, we asked to have the volume turned up, only to be told that there was a large group (6 people) watching the NFL game, and they get the volume. So glad 6 people meant more than 30-40 HUSKER fans. Thank goodness some local folks told us that The Beerhouse had the game on, so we moved, and so did they! GBR! Not to mention the waitress didnt even know the owner was from Nebraska! Nice. Really nice.

The food is mediocre at best. Lets get real, its just bar food so I wasnt expecting much nor was I blown away. The wings were okay, nothing that a competitor couldnt make. The service? It was god awful. The food wasnt bad enough to keep me away, but the service is. I went there twice, and each time I waited 20 mins for a waitress. I ended up getting impatient, got up and confronted one. Just completely ignore the patrons. And this is an obvious reflection of the management. I just dont understand how people can return to this place because it does get quite busy. Food wasnt great, service was even worse.

Wouldnt even give this place one star. This place is a joke. Most food is burnt. It takes forever. Pretty much the entire staff smells of cigarettes and obviously care more about leaving for a smoke break than they do actually serving people. I dont know how many times Ive had to ask for my waitress or the bartender to be fetched just to find out they were smoking, again. The place recently had a lot of bugs- and even a mouse. Management clearly doesnt care about the quality of the food, service or cleanliness of the restaurant! Pathetic!

My girlfriend and I visit the Chicken Coop almost every Thursday. The service is great, the drink specials are awesome ($2 Captain and Cokes) and the 45 cent wings are fantastic. They are massive wings- I sometimes wonder if it shouldnt be named the Ostrich Coop. :) Try the spicier ones- the wasabenero (wasabi and habanero) sometimes make me cry but their flavor is delicious. The sweet-sticky wings can sometimes get overpowering, so Id recommend sharing an order of ten if you decide on those.

Avoid this place. It does not have waiters that are attentive at all. The tables are awful. Its loud. The food is another disaster. I heard good things about this place but their menu is deceiving. I cant eat anything spicy so I ordered mustard wings and they still put buffalo sauce with it. It then took forever to get a waters attention to fix it. Never will return and will tell everyone to fork BWW instead, where they actually have service and food thats good.

Horrible service. I am sorry waitress you get paid to serve people. The waitress had an attitude about any little detail. The biggest problem is every drink you order on the rocks they charge you an extra $2.00 for. That is ridiculous especially when you can order water which comes with ice for nothing. I really think they need to reconsider their add on prices which our waitress did not disclose the extra charges when we ordered our drinks.

The food was pretty good until I saw the person cooking it, about threw up. I give the place props for the atmosphere for the most part. Lot of regulars at this watering hole - a place where they can be somebody. Waitstaff is generally pretty timely with food/drinks. Bar tenders are a joke. One guy seems to clean more than serve drinks like hes on acid or something. The other guy is just plain slow and has no personality.

Finally made it to the Coop for the wings! I have heard good things and all were held to be true. Broiled wings were great, though a few were not broiled completely. This was not an issue though, flavor was great and there was plenty sauce. So if youre looking for a new spot to get some good wings with plenty options of good sauces give it a go. I recommend the Spicy Garlic Dijon.

Good wings, one time however...a while ago, it took forever to get my wings. My party had gotten all of their order, but wings were nowhere in sight. Then when I did get them, they were undercooked. Ive had many pleasant experiences since that time, but I always check my order to ensure that its cooked throughly. 3 stars

Were from Nebraska, but were visiting Des Moines recently and found the Chicken Coop as an awesome place to watch our beloved Huskers! What a fantastic place! The service was great, the pizza and wings were to die for and they had cheap drink specials during the game! Well go back the next time were in the area!!!
