This is one of the worst dining experiences that I've had in a long time. The Papa burger meat was hard. The fries were cold. When I opened my Jumbo loin sandwich that was covered with more ketchup than was in the bottle that was on the tray for the fries, the server didn't even offer a different sandwich. I had to go inside to ask for another/replacement sandwich. Then when we were leaving the employees stood outside and flipped us of and yelled profanities at us. If you live in Des Moines, save the gas, time, aggravation and drive to the East University location. Wow!

The quality of the food is pretty good, but the quantity on some items like the chicken tenders is low, considering the price. Also, ordering food to go is kind of a pain. They tell you to sit off to the side and look at the menu, then never return to take your order. When I decided to flag someone over, she apologized and said she didnt realize we hadnt ordered yet. Maybe its a one off situation, so it wont stop me from going again.

Our family comes back to this A&W every time were in Iowa. We make excuses to come to Indianola just to go to this A&W. Some may call it retro-styled, but anyone from the area knows that barring the new expansion, it hasnt changed at all. It still has the drive-in telecoms, and if you decide to sit inside there are phones at the booths to put your order. Truly classic.

Its a good fast food place. But it takes them to long to get to u. The person was not very nice when I ordered. Also kinda costly to eat here. I got 2 double cheeseburgers and that is it n it cost me $8. Not bad size for the money but they are little greasy. It is kind of cool that they still bring the food to your window of your car and they also take credit cards.

Their food has been on a downhill lately. I used to go and order the chicken tenders and they would be big and fresh. Now when I go, its like I am buying little nuggets that I can get at Walmart. The food is so dry like it has been sitting out for awhile and its not even warm. So I stopped going to this location.

We always liked to eat here then one day we got french fries that were not hot and asked for some fresh ones. They refused and said that we could have our money back instead. We didnt want our money back, we wanted hot fries. We dont go there much anymore. It is family owned and does have good food.

Unlike most A & Ws today, this one is a drive in style. You can order in your car, or sit down indoors. Just as it was, when started in 1956. My family loves to eat here, we get a Rootbeer float, cheese curds, and a "Farmer Burger"! We have never had a bad service experience in our years of patronage.

This must be one of the last old time order from the phone at your table A&W restaurants. This place is a classic, a blast from the past. The old fashioned artery clogging burgers and tenderloins are amazing. Dont miss the cheese curds or the special price on Coney Dogs on Tuesdays.

Still has the old school feeling with the phones. My 1st time in there I went up to the counter to order like Im sure so many have done before me. I felt silly but its pretty unique and I hope it stays around as long as possible.

Delicious! Every time we are in Indianola with the kids this is where they want to go. Phones in the booths are a great way to order. We went there on a night they were holding a fundraiser for VCA, a local school. Fun!

Great experience. Attentive staff, classic ordering from your car or the booth phone (if you want), and tasty food. My float and every other frosty mug I saw looked like a promotional photo. Really outstanding.

Stopped in around 345 and the restaurant was full. The staff were disorganized. I was told it would be 15 minutes before I could place an order. Not a great first impression, but Ill give them another chance.

If I could give this place a half a star I would. It has been 40 minutes and we still havent received our food. It took them 15 minutes to acknowledge we were even there. And they got our order wrong.

Great food, good people! I love that it feels like a step back in time. They even make their own root beer fresh in the restaurant. Get the Farmer basket with cheese curds. You wont be disappointed!

A&W is definitely a institution in Indianola. Nice staff with the classic food, root beer and touch of Americana. Still has phones at the table as well for you to order your meal.

Obviously the root beer is great. Flour tacos are decent. But the cheese curds are surprisingly amazing! Tastes like the hand made curds you find in Wisconsin or a state fair.

I absolutely love Gibs A&W All American Food. Its a great experience every time with amazing burgers, root beer, and fries. Id recommend it to anyone stopping in Indianola!

Larry is horrible to his employees, and is too selfish to allow any one else any joy. A&W is basically just a more expensive, glorified McDonalds. 10/10 would not recommend

Great food. Careful going in to eat though it can be 75 outside and they have the air turned to like 63. Its an ice box in there. You need a hoodie to enjoy your meal.

Great food, fast service. Was outside like when I was a kid, but the only thing that I missed is that they dont have the tray they put on the window.

Burger was just OK I think. But the chili fries were very good. I also tried cheese curds for the first time and OMG I love it. My new favorite food!

Service is a little slow, but worth the wait. Car hop service or head in and order from the phones at the booths. Great nostalgic time and food.

Hey its a great place to get some of your old favorites. Great Coney dogs, very good burgers. Of yes, they have the best root bear floats too!

You cannot beat cheese curds and a frosty mug of root beer. This is the only good remaining A & W in the area, and I hope they never change.

Excellent food and great service. We recommend the chicken strips, and the authentic Root Beer is always incredibly tasty.

Neat old styling and phones at each booth to call in your order. Plus the food is better than every other a&w Ive been to

Good ol fashioned root beer. The employees never stopped humming. You dont see A&W restaurants like this anymore.

Decent food, but very expensive for just a hamburger and fries and wait was over 30 min after 9pm..

It had the atmosphere of an old time drive in A&W. It felt like a little blast from the past.
