Maybe it was the time of day. 13:23 on a Wednesday. Staff did not make eye contact and seemed very unmotivated. They were on their phones, and the table we got was dirty. There was still a tip on it. So far really wishing I went to lincoln square pancake house but hey maybe the food is so awesome it makes up for the mcdonalds level of service I got. The menu looked normal for a breakfast place. Wish they had better combo options. Like better side options. Half order of biscuits and gravy with my two eggs and bacon is my go to when I judge a breakfast place. No such combo was there. I also like to see healthy options which this place had a variety of which is rare and why I gave the extra star. They had gluten free pancakes and eggwhite menu options. Really cool. Getting our order taken was nothing short of below average. A machine would do a better job. I went ahead and got an eggwhite menu option. Basicly eggwhites with green peppers and onions in it with some salsa and gluten free pancakes. Wife got the french toast. Food was wafflehouse quality. It came pretty fast and eggwhites came out of a carton no big deal but for what I paid it kinda is. I could have got the same quality of food and service for half the price at waffle house. So if u want to go to waffle house with a different face on it I guess this place is it. No hole in the wall vibe at all. More like someone set this up and deligated its running to others who have no emotional investment in it what so ever. I will allways give something 3 tries. This was attempt number 1. No bueno.

I can say the coffee was good. Thats where the positive part ends unfortunately. Ordered the Danish Kijafa Cherry Crepes. When they came out I could see that the cherries were basically cherry pie filling with the filling part rinsed off. The crepes were extremely heavy with massive amounts of egg in them and had a faint taste like the smell of dog hair to them. They were not light like crepes are supposed to be, I really dont have an accurate description for them other than terrible. There were 2 to 3 very sad looking wrinkled up cherries in each crepe with a few more on top of them. The "Kijafa" syrup was basically off the shelf cherry/strawberry/red(not sure probably whatever was on sale I would guess) syrup. Not at all appetizing. This is one of the very few times I couldnt eat what was served even if I didnt really like it. When finished the server asked if I would like a box for the rest and I said "No thanks, they were really awful"... No response other than to take the plate away and leave the bill. Went to pay. The cashier was there along with a manager. The cashier asked how my meal was and I replied "It was really terrible." His response was "Oh, ok. Would you like to put a tip on your bank card?" No response at all from the manager standing right there. WHAT??? um, ok so never going back. Paid full price, left hungry, disappointed and angry. Will NEVER go back. Incredibly poor food and service.

Such a disappointment in my book. We arrived about 12pm on a Sunday and were seated in about 3-5 minutes. Thats about the only good thing I have to say. It took our server about 5 minutes to arrive at our table. He took our drink and food order. I lied, I have another good thing to say. Our food came out insanely fast. I ordered the Strawberry Crepes and a side of bacon. The bacon was delicious, cooked well and nice and thick. The crepes on the other hand were a huge let down. Im sorry to say that Ihops are better. My crepes were bland and lacked any filling. The powdered sugar and strawberry topping were non existent. Our server NEVER came back to the table until we were completely done and that was just to drop off the check. Never asked how everything was or even offer a refill. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and honestly, Ive had better and could have saved money by going somewhere else. $4.50 for a side of bacon is a bit extreme, and $8 for the main meal with no additional side items is pretty steep. I cant recall a breakfast joint where I spent $32 for so little food (pancakes, crepes, 2 sides of bacon, & 2 drinks). I may be willing to try it again and maybe have a better experience, but it wont be anytime soon.

We went there at 2pm on Sunday 3/5/17. Met my mother and sister who arrived before me and they were told in order to be seated they had to order. So we arrived shortly after and ordered. As my sisters food arrived. Then ten minutes later my mothers food arrived. By time they had finished eating sons food came out. Then mine. We all finished and ate separately. NO customer service, food was brought out one checked back afterwards, we had to ask for ticket. Then we had to wait for someone to cash us out. He was sitting there eating. Finally he took my moms money. Sit back down to eat while I still needed to pay and I was looking around making it obvious i needed help and finally he came back up. But the food was good. I felt like we imposed on them. The waitress told me the food was brought out separately because they closed at 3. ??? We arrived at 2. Very disappointing.

My main gripe with this establishment is that 1)their offerings are very limited and 2)prices are a smidgen too high for the meals value. For example, after reviewing the menu, I went with a ham and scrambled eggs plate which came with three pancakes- priced at $8.50 or so. I do not believe that the main entrée of a meal should be three eggs with a few bits of ham thrown in. And regardless, its most definitely not worth $8.50. I would love to see a chicken fried chicken meal, or at least something that was more filling than just eggs and some hotcakes. Also, perhaps a "grand slam"-esque meal would be nice (you might already be able to do this, but I certainly didnt feel like that option existed by simply looking at the menu). Service was just fine, no issues to mention.

I will admit, my favorite meal of the day is breakfast and I do tend to frequent or have a favorite breakfast restaurant. For some time now it has been the Le Peep Restaurant; unfortunately I believe the Original Pancake House just handed you your hat. Now that is not to suggest LePeep is bad or the service it bad; heavens no. Le Peep does a fantastic job at both. I would not eat somewhere that I do not enjoy or believe is poor or difficult service. The Original Pancake House was simply better. The quality of food was phenomenal, the cuts of bacon were thick and juicy, the pancakes and french toast were....well Holy Cow is all I can think of. If anything try the Charlene Almond French Toast. It was heavenly and you wont regret it.
