WRITE PRICES ON YOUR MENU! 4/27/13 Ive been to Taste about 10 times, and the food quality is excellent. I did have a disappointing experience this morning however, when the following happened: 1) I ordered the "Egg Special" 2) The cashier rung up the "Egg Sandwich" 3) The cashier brought out the Egg Sandwich, we sent it back for the correct item, and she let me know that there would be a "small price difference". 4) It turns out the "Egg Special" was actually $17, so the "small price difference was an extra $8"!!! I asked the cashier where the prices for the Egg Special was listed, and she said, "It isnt; most people just ask". I was really turned off by this, because as a consumer, it felt like a bait and switch. I have no trouble spending some good money on food, especially when it is made with the care and quality ingredients that they use at Taste. I do however take offense when I feel like Im being bamboozled into paying $17 for breakfast, when I was looking for a smaller portion at prices similar to the normal items on their menu. My wife was surprised that "Special" didnt mean "on-sale", but instead meant "much bigger and more expensive than normal". Please list the prices on your menu board, so that consumers can make educated decisions about what we want to eat. In this case, I would have been very happy with an Egg Special that was half as big for about $10, but I feel taken advantage of when I ordered the Egg Special that is as big as my head, and $17.

Impression: Casual breakfast/brunch/lunch location with ample seating areas and outdoor dining. Located along College Ave in a small restaurant bubble that is just neat to visit. This is a great place to go when its warm outside to eat outside. I personally inside because it was raining, and it was fine, but the interior isnt anything special. Food is purchased from a line that you walk along and pay for at the end of the line. Pros: Food was really good. The pomme frites were crispy and delicious, definitely recommend getting these if you are lunching. Ample seating and can accommodate small to medium size groups (8 or less). Cons: Is a bit pricey for what it is. The food is good, but if you are a bargain hunter this is not your location. Interior seating had lots of clanging and noise... not overly noisy, but noticeable. Conclusion: Its a nice little place with good food and great outdoor seating for nice days. If it wasnt a nice day though, I dont think I would bfast/brunch/lunch here because it is a bit pricier and the indoor eating is so-so. Great for: breakfast, brunch, lunch, small groups, a couple who wants to go out and have a nice little meal

I wish I were more hungry so I could try more. But I had the Greek orzo salad - a cold pasta side salad. I enjoyed it. My wife had the BALT ( a BLT with Avocado ), friets, and a coffee cheese cake for dessert. (Again, I wish I were hungry!). Ok - I stole some (half) of her friets - they were excellent. Everything rated awesome! I also had an Irish coffee - Yum! My wife and I stopped in at Taste on our Sunday day date. We arrived at 12:25. There was a line - didnt look to be too long - maybe a ten minuter. It was a 20 minute line due to only one cashier and she was a trainee. You enter, order at the counter and take your number to a table. They bring the food to you. I like the restaurant and the idea of local foods, good foods, real ingredients, etc. I will come here again. A couple things I think could help: 1) the menu is small and difficult to read while in line. A printed menu by the door that could be given back to the cashier would help. 2) Sunday lunch rush may not be the best time to train a cashier - especially if that is the only cashier. Overall - it was great and I am happy this place lives in Indy!

I had previously rated Taste with 5-stars, but had to change my review due to a beyond-bad service experience on Sunday. At breakfast, I ordered a sandwich with eggs. Forgot to ask about the way the eggs would be cooked...when I went back to check (because I cant eat undercooked eggs due to a MEDICAL condition), I was told the chef would ONLY cook them overeasy. If I wanted them another way, too bad, I would need to change my order to something without eggs. It was like asking for the moon, but really I just asked them to fully cook the eggs...which is a very easy and tasty way to have an egg... So, I ended up with an overly-bready, tasteless, greasy BALT...greasy bacon, lettuce, tomato and under-ripe avocado sandwich that I couldnt eat. My husbands strata was also tasteless and the breakfast potatoes had apparently been soaked in oil. We paid $25 for one of the worst breakfasts in recent memory and are NEVER going back. Unbelievable.

My girlfriend and I got two sandwiches from Taste and our experience is as follows. I got the roast beef. The bread seemed like is was old. Old to the point where it hurt my mouth to eat it. If it wasnt old then it was super hard. I am currently touching wounds in my mouth left by the bread. Im going to to hand the phone to my girlfriend to adequately describe her experience. Okay this is Amanda, like John said the bread was old and hard. The inside of the veggie sandwich was slimy and room temperature without much flavor giving me the distinct feeling of eating a booger sandwich. Extra gross right? The only good part of the meal was the fries, but you have to work really hard to screw up fries. And even then, fast food fries are better and cheaper. All around bummer. John again. So thats it. Maybe an off day at Taste. If I posted the photo of Amandas sandwich youd understand better.

Food is excellent, but the service is absolutely atrocious. First time we came was a Sunday morning at 10:30AM. One person taking orders and two servers running food. It took 20 minutes to get through a line of five parties. No fault of the cashier, as she was also making coffee drinks, but the fact that management staffed 3 people to take and deliver orders on a Sunday morning is inane. Waiter who delivered food was rude and haughty. Im a millennial and a bit of a hipster myself, but neither of those designations gives you a right to be a deprecating egotist, particularly to paying (but certainly not tipping) customers. We live in the neighborhood, and there are plenty of other brunch options within walking distance where you will be served like a human being and just as satisfied with the food. Good riddance to high horse rubbish.

Ugh, I hate leaving this review but I use to love this place and it has slowly gone downhill. The customer service has always been hit or miss, but has really declined. The furniture is falling apart and literally on the floor, it was difficult finding a clean table even though they werent busy when I arrived, and I watched a server barely clean one table and leave the rest of them dirty even though she knew they werent clean. The floors were extremely dirty as well, and the last two times I have been there old food and lipstick have been on my cup or silverware. I only ordered a salad and it took nearly 30 minutes to get the salad, even though they werent busy. I love the food, but sadly dont see myself coming back anymore :(
