On the night of November 15, 2008, my 24th birthday, my friends and I had dinner at the Ram at 6:45pm. Let me say for the record, as a three year veteran of working in the restaurant industry, and being that I am an employee for a high end, full service hotel company incredibly versed in customer service, I was appalled at my experience at the Ram Indianapolis. While I did feel sorry for our waitress being that it was only her fourth night of working there, I wonder why no one was around to help her, or why she was given a party of seven if she didnt think she could handle it. First, my boyfriend ordered a beer sampler. After ten minutes of waiting, she came back to tell him they didnt do that anymore, so he ordered one of the home brewed Ram beers. After another ten minutes, she came back to say that they were out, so he ordered something else. That final order took her 15 minutes to bring back to the table and my boyfriend was getting very upset. He had nothing to drink for almost a half hour, not even water. After everyone placed their orders the kitchen ended up being 30 minutes behind. For a downtown location on a Saturday night, when all downtown business are kept abreast of the conventions in town, I find it hard to believe that the restaurant was understaffed. The manager did come to apologize and said he would bring the food out himself, which also did not happen. Why make promises that you cant keep? Upon receiving our food, my friend Edwards steak was grossly undercooked. He asked for medium and his steak was very very pink, probably a bit less than medium rare. Myself and a friend ordered sweet potato fries and received none, because again THEY WERE OUT. Why didnt anyone say anything? Why was there no communication? My two other friends ordered cole slaw, and instead were given fries. Upon speaking to the manager listing everything that happened, instead of the manager saying, "Im sorry, we will comp a meal or give you a certain percentage off", or asking "how can I make this right?" He just hung his head and said, "yeah, not good, not good." Then I was given a complimentary dessert, which was a nice gesture, but by that time, I was simply ready to leave. We had to stare at the dessert for ten minutes, while it melted because we had no spoons or plates to share with. When the waitress came with our checks, she got them all mixed up and confused. For a 6:45 reservation, we were there until 9pm. No restaurant should take two hours to make it through a meal. Portions of our checks were reduced, however, the manager never acknowledged us on the way out and instead of the waitress trying to do better and make things right, instead of her trying harder, she treated us like crap and was very short with us for the rest of the night. It appeared she had been crying for most of the night. As a downtown Indianapolis employee, I simply do not think that the RAM will be in business for long with that kind of management. Half of my birthday evening was ruined and all of my guests were very upset. We were all very dissappointed.

Really disappointing experience. We came here for Gencon and of course expected it to be busy. Things were going alright till their computer system shut down during dinner service. Now granted that isnt expected and it is not the reason why I gave them two stars. It is how they handled the situation. Things went into full down meltdown mode. Our waitress went AWOL. We saw her maybe twice in the full hour and a half that we were waiting for food. We ended up having to drink water that we brought ourselves because she hardly came to check up on us. When some of our party came a bit late she wouldnt even take a drink order because the system was down. Didnt even offer water. When we asked for refills or a box, it never came. Half of our party had to leave without eating because they had games to attend. When my food did come, my burger was cold but my bun was burnt. By that time I was so fed up that I just paid and left. I understand that things happen but in the event of something malfunctioning, customer service and good communication shouldnt go out the window. I know that I am an out of towner and was there only because of GenCon but next year I wont be coming back.

The service was amazing. We could sample the beers before deciding on them. Our waitress was very knowledgable of every beer on tap, using great beer lingo. She couldnt have done a better job. She didnt smother us with questions like, you doing ok? or you gonna want desert? all night.... She was top dollar! The location us really convenient for everyone. Close to bars, shopping, and parking. I went during new years eve and the service was quick and it only took us 15 minutes to be seated. The food was delicious and quick. The atmosphere was great, very relaxing and not over cramped. For a large place, I couldn't hear other peoples conversations easily and felt like I could have an intimate conversation. The music wasnt too loud and the kitchen was open to the crowd but did not interfere with the ambiance of the restaurant. Overall, a great place for a family dinner, first date, or a quick lunch after shopping. Reasonably priced and great beer!

The atmosphere is nice, but the service and food failed. I visited this restaurant for the first day of GenCon 2016. There was no wait and we got seated right away. Getting our order in and waiting for our food took awhile. When we finally got our food my salad was okay but my friends burger was all wrong. They were missing an ingridient, had it on the wrong bun, and he asked for it well done but it was rare; cool pink center. So we sent the burger back and waited 12 minutes for the second one to come out. Everything else was fixed except for the actual burger, which was still rare. I had already finished my meal at this point, and we were upset and not willing to wait longer, so we just paid for my meal and had to go somewhere else for him to eat. The waiter said sorry, but no offers were made to help, no manager came out to apologize, and we will not be going back. My salad was okay, but not really worth the price and hassle.

We arrived at about 8pm on a SUNDAY night...how many SUNDAY nights at restaurants are "busy" at 8pm? Well, the sad part is that they werent very busy at all. They fooled us though. Our order took 90 MINUTES to come out. Not only did it take that long, it was wrong. More than a few times the orders were wrong...and cold. But wait...therrrrrres more...we discussed that it took forever with a manager, and so we got a whopping 25% off...we thought. Because, of course, they forgot to do that part. So how about the ability to accept debit or credit cards....hahaha have, RAM knows how to have plot twists...their credit/debit system was down...so they suggest you go to their internal ATM and pay additional fees so that you can pay in cash. Basically to sum it up, do not eat here unless you want to wait hours, and not know what youre gonna eat, and like restaurants that are sub-sub-sub-par. The end
