This is a review about the WONDERFUL coffee! For the last year and a half our family has called Chicago home. Well, not really Chicago. Actually, we have called Orland Park and the south suburbs home. And, for the past 18 months I have regularly typed "Orland Park or Tinley Park Coffee Shops" into Google. Always the same results - Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Sadness. My wife and I moved here from Iowa City - a university town with great indie coffee shops. To be honest, it’s been tough calling a place home when my only options for coffee have been Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Regardless of how good the coffee may be, they are a far cry from the indie coffee shops of my former home. Then, last week, Officer Stambaugh (one of Tinelys finest men in blue), who knows his coffee, recommended that I try a new coffee place in Tinley Park called, Creative Cakes. Yes, they make cakes. They make wonderful, beautiful, wedding and party cakes. They have been in Tinley Park for over 25 years. They are very successful. So, during a recent expansion they added a café with a wonderful, beautiful coffee bar. Hello indie coffee shop in the south suburbs! A Grande Americano, please! Ah, home. Please, if you are looking for a place to have a great cup of coffee (Intelligentsia from the city), and a great breakfast, in a great space - then this is your new home!

Im not buying into all the hype and neither should you. There are other bakeries out there that actually believe in putting out a product that tastes good rather than just looking the part. The cake is dry, the buttercream is overwhelming and when you order a Dreamsickle cupcake that is supposed to be reminiscent of your youth and it tastes like a cardboard box dipped in a ton of buttercream.... well you know... at that they are way overpriced! Almost $7.00 for two cupcakes? Its a joke. On top of the poor tasting offerings at Creative Cakes, I find the poor attitude of the owner even worse. She comes off as condescending with a better-than-though attitude above her staff- and even worse her customers. Why would you want to help a business grow that is run by an ugly person? She actually said to me that any negative reviews most likely come from, "People who cant afford her cakes in the first place." Who are those people that cant afford cake? Think about it. Go and spend your money elsewhere- this place is a joke.

Awesome on all counts! Great food, great atmosphere and great service! People comment on pricing, but they may not realize absolutely EVERYTHING on menu is made fresh and from scratch. You sure as heck arent going to get artisan at Panera or Corner Bakery where everything comes in from warehouses premade and frozen! Ordered the breakfast scramble crepe, which i got to watch being made...amazing. All fresh ingredients. Coffee was amazing. Customer service was rockstar! The coffee dispensers were out, so they made me a free latte so I didnt have to wait for regular coffee. Also had one of their homemade donuts. Killer!!! Just amazing all around! Love this place!

Let me clarify. The 3 star rating is purely personal. I tried this place out based on an article rating it in the top five of bakeries in Illinois. The store is beautiful and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The products are fresh and taste good. I live in Frankfort and we have Fleckensteins bakery close by. I personally feel they are a little better quality and prices are comparable if not a slightly better. Their donut and pastry selection is more diverse but they dont have a cafe or food selection so its not an apples to apples comparison. So the reason they get 3 stars from me is more location and preference versus them putting out a bad product.

Love the Cafe side! The sandwich called, "its complicated" is my favorite! Its a taste sensation. Its city quality food in the suburbs at affordable prices. Take advantage of the repeat rewards program because they offer great discounts every day. Love to get a locally brewed beer to go with my food as well. I love the bakery side too because I have a sweet tooth. The cake decorators are artists and take pride in the beautiful work they produce. And it even tastes as good as it looks. The bottom line is, the employees take pride in doing their job well, and you can see and taste it in the quality work. Its a great addition to the community in Tinley Park.

One of my wedding planners recommended Creative Cakes and I am SOOO glad she did. My (now) husband & I both LOVE red velvet cake and real buttercream. Creative Cakes surpassed my expectations at the initial tasting... their red velvet cake is amazing! Our cake featured red velvet and white cake layers, with white chocolate mousse filling, and REAL buttercream icing. Needless to say, every special occasion cake for our family will come from Creative Cakes. The service we received was great, the baker came out during our tasting and helped us put together the perfect mouthful of cake. The quality of the is worth every cent!

Even though we have nearby bakeries near where we live, we heard about the homemade buttercream at Creative Cakes so we decided to order cupcakes for our daughters wedding shower from them. The experience was perfect. First of all, the owner herself delivered the 5o cupcakes and came in to set up the three tiered display. It was so pretty. Then, when my "foodie" friends and guests ate them, they were raving about the taste. They all asked if it was from our neighborhood bakery because the taste was superior to what they have ordered before. We were thrilled! The buttercream is unique and delicious!

Should a cupcake make you feel sick? This is the question my grandson and I have asked since we purchased 2 cupcakes from here! We were told they use real butter in their frosting and to be sure to leave them out to soften... I guess someone had left them out already, before we got around to purchasing them! They must of been spoiled or??? I guess if your blinded by matrimony you wont mind the falling short of a good product from this establishment! However, if your looking to have a nice cupcake and avoid food poisoning with your grandchildren.... Go elsewhere!

Used to go there years ago, loved it then. When I went for the first time in a long time with my girlfriend I did not like my "Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcake" at all. The Mexican hot chocolate cupcake was over done and mislabeled (The butter cream inside was not chocolate). My girlfriend liked her Red Velvet Cupcake. The cream cheese tasted very smooth, but the cake was bland. The brownie was interesting, it was very dense and thick a bit hard to chew. It was also quite small. The prices are not worth the quality. I would not go there again.

I used to work at Creative Cakes and can honestly say it is an amazing place to work and enjoy their delicious treats!! Although I no longer live in the area I still have friends pick me up items when they come to visit me so I can feed my fix. The staff there loves what they do and it shows. If you need help designing a cake for a special event or just want to get some grab-and-go items Creative Cakes is the place to go. Good variety and specials around different holidays. The salted caramel bars are my favorite!! Highly recommend.
