Nice decor. Coffee is - mediocre. I dont say that lightly either. I had high expectations when I first purchased whole beans from Arcedium. I was a former customer of a coffee house in Batavia, IL that closed. When I made my first purchase from Arcedium, I told them I was coming from the other coffee house, and the kid arrogantly stated that their coffee was better. He was wrong. The coffee simply doesnt have much flavor. Picked up some Colombian whole bean yesterday. Burr ground it, brewed a pot in my high end Cuisinart coffee maker this morning. I am profoundly disappointed in the cup. There is no flavor at all. The Sumatra bean was OK, the Yirgacheffe was mediocre, the Mexican Chiapas was decent. But in all honesty, these roasts are under-roasted. I am going to continue to search for a small family-run coffee house which roasts their own beans. Based on the quality of the coffee, I begrudgingly wont be returning to Arcedium.

Our son told us about this place so we decided to give it a try... upon walking in, the place looks cool with the roasting equipment and modern atmosphere. We went for a coffee and late breakfast. The coffee was good, but after that the experience went way downhill. First the girl at the register had zero personality and looked like she didnt want to be there. We decided to get the yogurt and fruit, as well as a quiche... at about $5 a pop I was expecting a bit more than I got... way overpriced for what you got... the yogurt was in a plastic dixie cup with a little bit of mixed berries, and some granola on the side and served with a flimsy plastic fork... OK, chalked that one up to a bad choice, but when the quiche came out is when we decided we wouldnt be coming back... first off it was very small, and over-microwaved... the crust was so soggy as to be non-existent. Had high hopes for this place, what a let down.

First non Starbucks Ive been too that has good coffee & FOOD. The lack of food at places typically makes me go back to Starbucks as I want something for breakfast typically. So bravo to this establishment. The only con I found is it is yet another buissness that doesnt understand the value of whole grains. I ask at every place even if I know they dont because for something that amounts to bread and yet can decrease your diabetes risk in the long term a good amount, why not. There is also buck wheat "i.e. Whole grain flour cut with white wheat" for those who are adjusting to it. Or just straight whole grain. So I dont see any excuse for a buissness to not have it available at least in limited quantities.

When Arcedium first opened, it was really nice. The decor is tasteful with a huge coffee bar and a nice layout. The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable, and experienced baristas. Steadily the place has started to go downhill. The good people dont stay very long, leaving mostly rude teenagers that dont know how to mix drinks or take 10 minutes to "make" a cup of tea. The quality of the food options, drinks and staff has really declined, yet just this week they raised their prices. A cup of tea last week was 1.45, and now is 1.95. They also charge 50 cents more for iced tea. I think the place still has a lot of potential and hopefully they can find their footing again before people stop going there.

I have been going here for years and I have failed to find a better coffee shop to date. The baristas are great, the coffer is great, the espresso is great, but the wait can be a bit long sometimes... FYI its because they focus on quality. Go ahead and ask them... they have a working process. If you like your beans roasted until they are burnt please go a few blocks over to Starbucks. This shop specializes in doing coffee correctly. To the 2 star post listed, Cuisinart is not high end, and you cant make a better cup at home. You sound like an unsatisfiable child.

Our favorite coffeehouse Arcedium is deteriorating. Weve been coming here for the last 7 years, purchasing their expresso beans and enjoying great coffee. Thats all changed now. I am sad to say that the employees dont seem to enjoy working here and they dont seem to appreciate the customers. This used to be such a great place, they even had specials on gift cards, frequent visits, etc. Just like the good service, so went the customer value items. I hear Grahams coffee shop in Geneva is a great place and they do value their repeat customers.

This place is a really nice and quaint coffee shop. It gives you the vibe of being somewhere in San Francisco with with its friendly atmosphere. It is a bit hard to find but once you find it youll realize why this location is such a gem. Definitely a refresher from the chain coffee shops. The coffee is also great and roasted fresh at the location. Try this place out if you have a chance and are in the area period I have had everything from hot coffee to the cold coffee and they all taste great.

I was expecting less when I arrived, but was pleasantly surprised when they had many different regional beans, not just some Sumatran blend like most coffee shops. Ordered an Ethiopian pour over, but was disappointed when I took a sip and the coffee was burnt. For the coffee connoisseur, this is a 3... at least they offer regional roasts... but the execution is poor. For the average coffee goer... this place would be a real treat. Definitely go!

My husband and I have been coming to Arcedium Coffeehouse since they opened, and have always been pleased! We only get our coffee beans from here as well! Everyone who works at Arcedium are so friendly and wonderful that we dont want to stop going. Even though we dont live in St. Charles anymore, we make at least a weekly trip to Arcedium! We have recommended this coffee house to many people, and they too have always left happy!

The bar seating is nice and gives plenty of more room to the space, however its always lacked a friendly atmosphere that I want at a coffeeshop. Perhaps this is because the staff seem to constantly be new people and I dont like signs of high turnover. It is also confusing the first couple of times you go that the mens and womens bathrooms are in completely different directions.

What a lovely coffee shop with a clean, welcoming environment, friendly staff and delightful art work. I had a delious flavored latte and enjoyed the company of a friend in a pleasant and comfortable setting. I look forward to visiting again in the spring when I can take a walk along the Fox River and follow with another yummy treat at Arcedium Coffeehouse.

I go for drinks ONLY. Never had food there. It has really good coffee products - I believe they have their own blend. The inside has nice ambience and is roomy. I like the huge grinder in the center! Clean and good wi-fi. I frequent when downtown. Only minor problem (for me) is that they are slow with making the drinks. Very nice workers, too.

I only drink cafe latte so maybe my experience is different than others. I usually go weekday mornings. I have tried to give this place plenty of chances but they are just awful. Today the latte I got tasted watered down, other times the milk has been burned. I just want a simple latte and this place has been proven to be unreliable at best.
