Dont go here unless you are prepared to wait form over an hour for someone to take your order. We went there today because of good reviews. Place didnt have a lot of people. We got seated and then waited 1 hr for someone to take our order and would probably still be waiting if we didnt leave that place to go somewhere else. BTW it was Saturday night around 7pm. In one hour that we were there we didnt see any servers in the room. I never had such bad service! After 60 min of zero service we simply got up and left. I understand that food sometimes takes a long time to cook so if it took 50 min after they took our order then ok, however, this was not the case! We sat there for 60 minutes and NO ONE even came by to say hi, or to bring water or to take our order..... There was no apologies for running late.... There was no staff to ask what the world is going on? Everyone at the restaurant were treated like they werent even there! I have no idea why other customers still were there? So after 60 minutes we simply got up and left. We then and went straight to a good Chinese restaurant I will not write its name so people dont think that I am here to damage "Ruby of Siams "great" reputation. I usually dont write bad reviews because little things happen in every business now and then, however, this was not a little thing! It was REALLY BAD! So here is my advice, dont let the cheap prices lure you into this place - there is absolutely nothing that they are giving away in there, to have a nerve to treat their customers like this! Also later on I read in one of their reviews that few of their customers found a dark thick hair sticking out of their food as soon as they were served , that there was no apologizes , they didnt even offer to bring something else. After I read that I was so discussed that I am glad that we left . I would not eat their food for free even if I was starving .

Usually I really enjoy this restaurant, although I have never found the staff to be friendly or even very attentive. This trip, the waiter brought water, and as I took the appetizer plate off the dinner plate saw, as I did, a good 2 inch black jagged hair on the empty plate. Because there was no food involved, I was able to get passed it with a fresh plate. My husband soup was delicious, my shrimp spring roll was, also. We both enjoyed the cucumber salad, then when he put the pad thai on the table I couldnt believe there was a long brown hair twirled into the food with a loop sticking up. My husband actually pulled out his glasses before we called the waiter over, he pulled it from the food, a 10 inch or so length. He just huffed and took it away, I called another waitress over and said please dont bring me anything else. No manager, no talk of how can we make this meal ok with you. Now as I wait in disbelief, I look at the plate we just ate out salad of and stuck to the plate by oil, is another straight black hair. I know I should have got up and left. We told the waiter he got very upset as if he couldnt believe we had a problem. I asked for a manager, the 3 staff stood and looked at us as if no english...of course we werent compensated, no apology, and we paid for all but the pad thai. Will never go back, but feel like I did something wrong by paying.

I order their bubble tea with lychee yum delicious! And thats where my dining experience took a turn for the worse.. I had as an appetizer the grilled calamari which was delicious except for the fact that it was slightly burned. Then I ordered the eggplant and basil with chicken never in my wildest dream did I expect ground chicken!??!! Really?? Wow first time for everything I guess I wonder what the saw of my chicken would have been if I ordered curry ... Would it look more like sloppy joe?? Ok beside esthetics the flavors where there good flavors just not impressed.. Common Chicago if this is what you think Good Thai food is you are sadly mistaken!! Best Thai food Ive ever had has been in savannah from chiriyas if you ever go there you should stop by and taste how Thai food should really taste.. All in all not bad but not my top fave by far was really looking for somewhere good to eat and I ended up here I should have read the comments before I sat down then I wouldnt have stayed. On a plus food came out fast enough, and service was ok. Really suggest you go else where if your looking for authentic Thai cuisine. If your looking for expensive Chinese this is the place!

We called ahead. They were supposed to be open till 11pm. we got there a little after 10pm. within 5 minutes of sitting down they told us we had to order immediately because the kitchen was closing. Food came out in10 minutes. with 10 minutes of us receiving our food they wanted us to pay the bill because they were closing the register. for the next 20 minutes they stood over us as soon as we finished a plate they picked it up and then someone stood over me with a rag getting ready to wipe down the table. it was so rude they rushed us out before 11pm the food was mediochre at best at 1055 they turned off all the lights and left i was angry i said something tot he owner or manager how i felt it was rude and he smile and walked away we will never go back

For some reason in Chicago land Thai food has replaced chinese as the asain favorite. I recently decided to jump on the band wagon and try a few of the many restaurants that have sprouted up in the last five years. Many that a few friends wont shut up about. I have found that pad thai is my favorite thai dish and this place ruby of siam makes the best in the city or north burbs for sure. They are 2 minutes off the old orchard 94 exit and definitely worth the trip to skokie for a date or dinner with the family.

The buffet is getting horrible. Since the owner not on site anymore as they seems has other locations to take care, the buffet quality and services are worse. I came just for their tofu soup. Paid $11 for lunch just for 4 cups of tofu soup and steam rice. Other entries just too mushy, too oily just not good anymore. Restaurant is hard business. Need to tend all the time and need to have dedicated people to make sure the quality of foods and services.

By far the best Thai restaurant in the country. We love Thai food and try to find restaurants whenever we travel to other cities. There is no comparison - Ruby of Siam beats any of the Thai ones we went to. While there, try Bass - it is phenomenal. We come to this place quite often and every time receive a very good service. Oh, and by the way, you could bring your own bottle of a good wine and enjoy it with your friend and family. Cheers!
