This has been the second time in several months I have been here at this Ohare airport location and hopefully not my last. The staff here always make me feel so special! I normally visit the Gibsons on Rush street and enjoy eating outside in the summer to people watch but I do come here to this location once in a while and I never regret it nor does the staff ever disappoint. It is a much less harried dining experience here especially if you dine during the work week towards the end of the evening. This time my friend and I split a filet mignon which was juicy and filling and we also shared a huge antipasto tray that easily serves three and a delicious, buttery, butternut acorn squash. I always always love the breads they serve you before your food arrives. You can just sit back in your cozy booth having a drink and chatting with friends while eating their home made, freshly warmed breads. I ended up taking back a ton of leftovers because each side dish portion or appetizer is enough to feed three people not just two. Make sure you have a healthy appetite and just relax, sip your drink, love your company and indulge because no one here hurries you. Our waiter explained all our options and was very keen on fulfilling my great desire to top off the meal with just a tiny hot fudge sundae. He brought us a small sundae to split and then the manager Jared Brown came to visit our table to make sure we were satisfied with our dining experience. They will treat you like a king and you can tell the staff here knows everything about how to listen to you and explain all your dining options. I love, love, love the relaxed and comforting ambiance here at this Gibsons location. If you have a business conference or experience a flight delay and end up here at Ohare airport I highly recommend you treat yourself to this great and decadent dining indulgence at Gibsons. Dont rush just enjoy!!!!

Deceptive and deceitful pricing. Prices for cordials and shots of whiskeys are different on two different menus. There is a bar menu on the tables that lists prices for shots and cordials, and the same list of drinks is on the back of the desert menu, but the prices on the desert menu are about $2 higher for each item. I asked the waitress about the discrepancy. She stammered a bit then said the difference was neat versus on the rocks. This of course makes no sense. Neither menu makes any distinction as to how the drinks will be served, and no bar I know of up-charges $2 for ice. Furthermore, how many people order cordials on the rocks? Very few. The waitress then told me the prices on the desert menu (the higher ones) were the "correct prices". I told her I was ordering a brandy from the bar menu and I specifically expected it to be charged according to the bar menu price. She agreed. I then asked the manager about it. He asked if my waitress had explained the reasoning (so obviously they must get this question a lot and have trained their waitresses how to respond). I told him yes, and it made no sense. I have worked as a bartender at various places and this is complete nonsense. He muttered some apologies and said he "would check into it". But I dont expect he will. I wont be returning to a place that engages in such blatant, unethical pricing. Its a red flag that other unethical activities are going on as well.

Where do I start? (1) The tables were WAY too close together...so much so that our overly portly waiter bumped into our table every time he rushed by; (2) WAY too loud...I guess thats what happens when you combine a Saturday night, a ton of movers, shakers & wannabees, copious amounts of alcohol and a highline name brand like Gibsons...that said, it was the loudest restaurant Ive ever been to in my life, bar none; (3) I ordered my London Broil medium & got it well done; my wife ordered hot tea and there was no water in the pot (?) AND it took forever to get our order out [at least the bread was good]; (4) grossly overrated and obscenely overpriced...I know you get what you pay for, and if I actually GOT what I paid for I wouldnt be writing this. There are a slew of upscale eateries in the area that are MUCH better at [literally] half the price. So, given (1) through (4) above, Ill never go back. Its heavy on decadent, conspicuous consumption and superficial "style" and light on meaningful, memorable substance and real "class". Dont bother...youll be glad you didnt.

The service has s very good. Attentive but not intrusive. Water glass never made it half way. The steak was outstanding. Cooked perfectly with great crust and flavor, worth the price of admission. So does are disappointing. Asparagus was cook okay but not flavorful and sauce was completely lacking flavor, I think it was hollandaise. French fries were disappointing. Undercooked and slightly on the soggy side. Needed more time in fryer. The wine selection is nice with large selection by glass however, the reds are served very warm. When I reported this I was told they have chillers for the red wine but the wines I chose were not put in them. Why buy chillers if you are not going to use them for the most expensive wines by the glass. The lady next to me started a conversation with me after this and told me she agreed the reds are way to warm. However, remember the steak house had fantastic steaks. I would give them another try next time I am in the area.

We went for Mothers Day dinner, and it was packed. We were first seated at a table that was obviously not part of the regular seating configuration. We were literally sitting in the pathway of all the servers and smushed between two large tables. We requested a different table and the hostess was kind enough to move us to the patio area. Our server was nice and seemed knowledgeable about the food. Thats as good as it gets as far as our meal was concerned. My mother and son order steaks medium well and both of the steaks were very overcooked. The twice baked potato was cold in the center. However my scallops were ok as were the green beans. The wine seemed to be rather flat I sent back to glasses of two different wines before I just gave up and ordered an iced tea. The meal was disappointing to say the least especially since this is supposed to be a four star restaurant and it was out Mothers Day meal.

Ive been coming here for YEARS. This is PRIMO steak territory. It used to be PERFECT, impeccable. Its now.....meh.....OK. Drinks are always superb. They pour enough alcohol to knock you on your @ss in one drink. That doesnt disappoint. I sat at the bar because I couldnt get a table. The drinks were without a doubt the best. No shortage of alcohol, and served to perfection. James made sure of that. The filet was cooked medium rare in the middle as I ordered but I had to SAW through the outer layer and it was TOUGH. Acceptable when youre paying $20 for a fillet, no so when youre paying $42. I have had better. To their credit, a manager appeared when I spoke of my disappointment and he told me they will accept nothing less than phenomenal. This wasnt but Im going back tomorrow and well see if they excel. I expect they will, but keep posted......
