Ive not actually been to this bar myself, but I thought Id look it up to see if it still exists (Im not sure if its even the right bar). This is why (pulled from wikipedia): The Old Town Inn in Elgin, Illinois is known to be the first bar in which a beer was shotgunned. As related on page 12 of Horst Veiners auto-biography "My Lush Life" published in 1936: "Then that old fool, "Irish", as we called him, stabbed his can with his bastard blade and drank from the upturned mouth the whole of the can of Kruegers finest. Karl the owner was impressed and said so. Then someone said to turn up the radio because "The Fuhrer" was about to speak." ----I gave it the three star rating since I had to pick a number, dont read anything into it. I plan to check it out next time Im in the area, for novelty if nothing else.

Decent little neighborhood dive bar with nice people. Went on a Saturday afternoon to get a beer and a quick bite. Beer and food had good prices on them, and there are a couple of pool tables and video slot type games.

New owner so I stopped by to see the new improvements. The inside has been remodeled, the Fish was crisp and hot. Nice portion for price. The bartender was very friendly and attentive.I definitely will be back.
