I was a bit disappointed with the service received this evening during the slow beginning of the evening. Server basically only took our orders and that was that, there was no descriptions of food as plates were dropped, empty plates sat on the table for a while, check was dropped before I could vocalize that we were all set. No one said goodbye to us as we exited. Now as far as the food goes, it is high quality and enjoyable. We ordered the empandas, they were great although in the future I would ask for sauce on the side. We ordered the surf and turf and tequila soaked steak, the surf and Turf was overcooked (asked for medium, got medium well), and shrimp was rubbery. The tequila soaked steak was much better, well balanced and cooked to perfection. Got two desserts, both were quite disappointing and we should have skipped it. The cheesecake tasted like box mix and the chocolate cake was just okay.

Las Palmas is different from other mexican restaurants in many ways. As you walk in you come across a warm fireplace, Mexican theme colorful artworks on the walls, and cozy upscale atmosphere. There is an atrium and backyard patio which is even used in colder weather with tents and heater for parties. Friendly staffs. The foods are awesome, some dishes are unique, some are gourmet, but focus on foods that are grown in Mexico such as mangos, jicamas, chayotes, and more! They have great tacos selections for lunch (not recommended for veg since no alternatives). Guacamole is freshly made! Salad are unique and delicious! Enchilada veg is different and very good! And cant forget about their drinks! Its Awesome! such as the La Maria India (bloody mary) and Bloody Margarita are very tasty, fresh, perfectly spices, and delicious!

Went there on a Monday evening for friends birthday. It was very disappointing and almost ruined his birthday. Service was very slow. Some of the food tasted like reheated weekend leftovers. We had to send salmon back because it was undercooked and they brought it back overcooked. The other dishes were lacking flavor. And the $10 mojitos were very poorly prepared and tasted like bad watered-down sweet lime juice mix with no trace of rum whatsoever (which they didnt offer to fix after we complained). Despite telling the host about the birthday, waiter did not bring birthday dessert and I had to go inside and request it (awkward)! But to be fair, the only food we enjoyed was the guacamole, which was perfectly done.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Chicago! The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food is out of this world! Although everything on the menu is excellent, my favorite dish is the Cochinita Pibil which is a pork dish marinated with achiote paste and slow roasted in banana leaves then served with pickled onions and a habenero salsa. I have probably eaten it over 20 times in just a few years and have gotten others addicted as well. I would also recommend their mole sauce which has won awards and the Ecco Margarita. Las Palmas really is such a wonderful place and I highly recommend you go and see for yourself!

The atmosphere, decor, habanero sauce and steak were all up to par on tonites adventure of dinning out. But, there is nothing like dry pork (my dish named cochinita pibil) and bad service to ruin what could have been the place to celebrate our wedding. I really tried to like my dish, eating almost four tortillas in the process of finding more taste than just lemon juice on my pork. To top it off, the waitress seemed to be more comfortable with her usual clientele and just plain ignored us. Probably wont go back to this place and you shouldnt either. On to the next one for us though.

Our favorite restaurant in Chicago, for three years running! We tell our friends that its "fancy Mexican" food. The atmosphere is classy without being stuffy. The menu changes regularly and is always yummy. Our favorite is their brunch. Theres rarely a wait, but there should be for the quality of the food and service. I recommend brunch in their glass enclosed atrium. Over the past three years, theres been a very low turnover of staff, proving that its a well-liked place by the staff and patrons.

Where do I even begin? This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I stumbled upon this place while reading reviews and knew I had to try it. Went for my birthday dinner last year and have been coming back ever since. The most amazing non traditional Mexican food. As one review described it perfectly, it is elevated Mexican cuisine. Every single item I have ever had here has been beyond outstanding, but I cannot come here and not La Calabaza, trust me, just do it!

I love everything about this place! The food is always delicious, the drinks are perfection and they have a fire place and a back room that is almost all windows. Be sure to get the COCHINITA PIBIL Braised pork shoulder slow roasted in banana leaves with achiote, citrus juices and Mexican herbs. Served with refried beans & habanero salsa. Its so good! They have specials Sunday through Thursday that are super reasonable for a nicer place. #30daychallenge

They were one of a few restaurants at Fiesta Boricua and the plates they served were a little bigger than a large mans fist. Thats not big when were talking about a plate of food! A $13 plate at that. Theyre can soda was $2. The lady serving us was a snotty one too. Definitely NOT worth it. Go a little further down to Ponce tho and you get your moneys worth! Their plates are double in size, only $10, theyre soda is $1 and the people are SO MUCH nicer!!

Visually a good first impression. The food is over priced when I can get either the same or better cooked food for half the price at el Maguey. You also only get one free order of chips and salsa, after that its an additional $2 for extra chips. The margarita pitchers are also way too small for the price. Again, visually inviting but once your bill is paid you will wish you would have just gone to Hacienda or Amigo Joes.

Amazing service of all the crew. However this is Not A Mexican restaurant, it is a kind of latin sort of fusion. First they dont have Aguas Frescas (hello!) They have duck and serve bananas and potatoes on the dishes..what thats not Mexa. Drinks are so nice. Meat was okok, the reason of 3 stars is because they said they are mexican, food is ok, drinks are nice and the service is so amazing.

Las Palmas is a great place for some tasty Mexican food. Their chips, salsa and guacamole are all enjoyable. I highly recommend their fajitas. They are served in unique silver domes and come out piping hot! Another dish to try is the fish tacos. The prices are great and you can often find deals through Groupon. A great place with great prices

Service is a bit slow but very friendly. The back patio is great, even in the winter time and their guacamole is made right before setting down at the table. You get to choose the spicy level as well. Chips and salsa are also very good. I got the fajitas which were pretty good and be careful with their margaritas because theyll sneak up on you!
