Wow! What a catch! My wife took me out for a visit to Chicago and we stopped here for dinner. Our dinner started with hot bread and butter and prompt service. The waitress was very knowledgeable and a pleasant addition to the experience. My wife being pregnant had medium well filet medallions which came with mashed potatoes, spinach, and a ceaser salad. The steak was well seasoned and tender with a wonderful garlic butter glaze. Mashed potatoes werent dry and had a nice buttery/herby flavor to them. The ceaser salad came with a giant circular crouton on top that set it apart from the rest. I had an Oscar Style Block Island Swordfish with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I started off my meal with a shrimp and king crab bisque. It had a wonderful tomatoe flavor and they didnt skimp on the crab! My swordfish was AMAZING. Very meaty, white fish with a nice crisp on top and charcoal grill taste. The Oscar had tons of king crab and was probably the best Ive ever had. Definitely worth getting. To top it all off, I had a bullet rye Manhatten that was made very well. It was a great compliment to the dinner. Service was quick, glasses stayed full, finished dishes removed promptly, and wondeful dishes. I wish we could have stayed for dessert! You wont be disappointed!

Ate here recently on a Friday after work. The place was crowded but not full. Had the calamari which was fresh and delicious. One of us had the Lemongrass shrimp and scallop, was good but too spicy. Portion was a little small. Had the blackened Atlantic Salmon which was very good. It was served with grilled cucumbers and butternut squash risotto. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and blueberry cheesecake. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. They also have a really nice piano bar in the front of this restaurant. Very elegant looking and the decor is very classy. Thought that there would be a dress code here, but looks like a lot of out of towners stop in here as well as the after work crowd. Attire should be not too casual, but not too dressy either. Dont bother with the prix fixe menu, if you order the same items seperately they actually cost the same or even cheaper. It is not a deal by any means. Do not let them seat you in a middle table like we were. The servers will be brushing the back of your chair the entire evening like they did to me. Service was very good and I look forward to returning to try their signature dish, the Chilean Sea Bass. @GoogleLocalCHI #CityExperts

Located near the theater district Ive heard (but not confirmed) that you can get a break on valet if dining before a show. Catch 35 is an upscale seafood restaurant in downtown Chicago. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. Its a multi-level staircase kind of design that feels a bit narrow. Items are on the menu were fairly simple (always a good thing at seafood restaurants). I did note, however, that a number of menu choices had Asian influenced ingredients. I also noticed that there wasnt a fish tank anywhere to be found. Isnt there some seafood restaurant rule that you should have one? haha They do a decently priced prix fixe menu that is appetizer, select entree, and dessert for only $30. The entree selection isnt the best but its definitely worthwhile if youre set on an appetizer and dessert. The seafood is incredibly fresh tasting but I, personally, would steer clear from the deep fried choices since you miss out on the characteristics of the fish. All in all, I had a good visit to Catch 35. Its not incredibly memorable but I might find myself coming back if I had tickets to a show nearby.

The food was ok. Nothing special at all. Definitely doesnt justify the price. The starters, we had the mussels and a bowl of bisque, were delicious. The key lime pie was delicious. The main courses, Haddock Oscar style and surf and turf, were sub-par. The ambiance was ok if you can get past the hideous, gigantic paintings of seafood on the wall. They look like they belong in a Red Lobster. Our server was not very attentive or friendly. He didnt seem to want to make any conversation until he dropped the check off, at which point he decided to sleaze it up and compliment my shirt and watch. Douche. It was an obvious attempt to clean up on his tip. I tipped 20% only because the food runners and assistant waiters did all of the work and I wanted to ensure they had good nights as tips go. Otherwise I wouldve left the tool 5%. We put on the reservation that it was our anniversary and no one said or did anything to show that they cared. I have neighborhood joints with better food, service, and ambiance. And they wouldve been delighted to make our special night memorable. I dont ever recommend Catch 35

The food is really good here, however the service was TERRIBLE. Im giving it two stars for what we experienced not on the quality of food. We waited over 15 minutes for our server to greet us, once we got our order in, he checked back on us once to see how it tasted. After waiting about another 30 minutes he came back around asking if we would like desert, we said we would take a peek at the menu; we waited another 20 minutes for him to come back. He did not apologize once, for making us wait- we thought it was extremely rude and poor service. We would have understood if it was just a busy night, however it was not overcrowded. Needless to say, service is important to my boyfriend and I and we will not be returning to this establishment. If you want great food and great service, try places like MK or Flemings they seem to understand how to provide great customer service and wonderful food.

So while awaiting our midnight cruise we went out to dinner. We decided on Catch 35, and boy are we glad we did. I can usually find some small thing to complain about from any restaurant I eat at, but this place, I cant think of anything that I didnt like. I didnt have a cocktail, so I cant critique that. I started with the shrimp crab bisque. It was great, so flavorful, so smooth, and I so smooth. second course I had the fillet steak medallions. It was cooked perfectly, and it came with creamed spinach , fingerling potatoes and an entire roasted garlic clove. OMG, everything was so good. Im not a big fan of creamed spinach, but this one was pretty good. I was able to sample the shrimp, and all I can say is wow. It was almost as good as lobster. Plus they had a live jazz trio, awesome I really like this place and we are definitely going back.

Had a wonderful dinner date night at this restaurant. Our waitress Shelly was very personable and gave great recommendations. When we got there, they had a jazz singer performing which added to the ambiance. The food was great! We each had the pre fixed menu which already ibcluded many of the items we were considering and seemed like a reasonable price. The River Walk martini was wonderful. The Whitefish entree was superb and so were the Filet medallions. The toffee pudding cake was so delicious that it is something I will dream about for years. The chocolate lava cake was good too but VERY rich. Like I said, our waitress was great but the other staff were also polite and efficient at turning over tables. Would return!
