UPDATE!!!!! So I recently went back to Italian Oven this past week due to being out of town and my service was great, as usual! Steve was not my waiter. I had actually forgotten all about this post until the manger came to my table and apologized. Thank you Italian Oven! Your service is always great and so is the food. 10/10 I love this place and youll keep seeing me and my family. :) I am a regular at the Italian Oven in Stockbridge and I have honestly never had any complaints, until last night (5/22/2015). So my family and I, which consisted of my sister, my father and myself, decided to sit near the bar, where the three booths are. We sat in the middle one. The hostess was very nice, as they always are. So we sat down and our waiter was Steve. The way Steve approached was was very hostile, I got an over all bad feeling, but I decided to give him a chance. I am a person who likes to keep the peace and be nice to the waiters, because at the end of the day, they are the ones bringing me my food, stuff that is about to go into my body. He wrote his name on the table and threw, from one side of the table to the other, the crayon. The way he placed the oil and cheese little shaker thing (dont know the name sorry) on the table was more like a slam or a, "Here you go." In my mind, I said "Okay, just give him chance." We ordered our drinks, which took forever to come and so did our bread, but it was a busy Friday night. In the meanwhile, Steve was at the booth in front of us, having a conversation and hugging the customers. I said, "Okay, seems weird he can do that with them but when he comes to our table he is very distant and rancorous." I didnt want him to hug me or have a conversation with me, I just wanted him to be nice. I brushed it off and then when he finally came to our table, we ordered our meals and waited some more. The person that brought us our meal was a very, nice, tall, young man in a white button down. My father and I ordered endless soup and salad and not once did Steve ask if we wanted more salad, soup, or bread. We had to wave him down at one point so we could ask for another soup. Near the end of our meal, a couple came and sat down behind us; Steve was their waiter. To them he was very friendly and bubbly, it was just so weird that when he came to my table he acted differently. So during the one time Steve came to our table, my father asked for some of the wing sauce. Steve brought us a bottle of hot sauce, when the wing sauce is usually brought in a white little cup (I come here A LOT!). When my father told him it wasnt the right one, Steve raised his voice and got an attitude with my father. So my father just said, "Okay just leave it here." At this point, I got really angry and wanted to leave. I lost my appetite and waited until my sister and father to finish. We payed and we left. I am not saying this is a racial issue, but my whole family is Mexican and while we were there, we were speaking Spanish. I dont want to accuse anyone of being a racist but the other couple who were in front and behind us were Caucasian. If it were not a race thing, Steve was just an overall bad waiter. As I mentioned, I come here a lot. I bring my dad, my mom (on separate occasions) and I recommend it to everyone I know. Because this place has AWESOME ITALIAN FOOD! Every time I have gone, for the past 11 years I have been going to this restaurant, I have never had an experience as bad as the one I had last night. I just wanted to say something because many people of minorities do not speak up for themselves (like me physically at the restaurant) and I just wanted to be there voice. I will continue going as long as Steve is NOT my waiter.

Something is off at Italian Oven. My Husband and I go in there on a regular basis. We usually enjoy the food and get good service. However, tonight was not one of those nights. Things started okay but quickly went downhill. We were brought our drinks and the bread. We ordered our food and sat there for quite a bit waiting for salad and drink refills. We thought the food was going to come up before the salad arrived. The salad finally made it and we finally manged more drinks. Then we waited a while longer and still no food. The food finally made it out and for the rest of the meal we had trouble getting drink refills. At the end of the meal my husband asked to speak with a manager. When my husband tried to tell her what had happened she took a hissy attitude and the same as called him a liar to his face when he tried to tell her about our horrid service and how long it took the food to come up. She said she had been monitoring the food herself and the kitchen wasnt behind and that what he was saying was simply not true. We were appalled! Italian Oven needs to hire some managers that know what they are doing. I know we will not be back after the shameful way we were treated!

I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and warmth, with the classic Italian designs. The food was also delectable, the blue crab ravioli plentiful and satisfying. Id give the place an "A" in cuisine. However, the service was . . . for a lack of better word, quite neglectful. First, it was a Friday or Saturday night, at 9 PM. Two hours before closing, so they should still be aware. No one came to seat us for 30 minutes, which almost made me sit myself down. Then the server hadnt come for an additional fifteen minutes, even though the place only had at most 10 customers, excluding my sibling and me. And then, he came to our table for a total of four times: first to get our orders, once to refill the drinks, and twice for the check. The table in front of me received similar treatment, while the table behind me was checked on the most by him, even though it only had one more person there. I want quality service to compliment quality food, no less.

The co-owner was very rude!!! We had reservations from 6p-8p and he came to our table (@ 6:36) and told us "its 7pm and you have to be out by 8 because we have another party coming in". Then he precedes to remove the "extra" chairs as we were ordering & the rest of our party was arriving. My husband and I have come here many times and loved the food and service until tonight. We had guests from Texas, Minnesota, and Philadelphia and was excited for them to eat here. Needless to say, the experience was horrible for everyone. But Jess, the waitress, was AWESOME and she will be tipped very well!! Great service recovery Jess!! :-)
