Dear, oh, dear. Since this place has gotten so many stellar reviews, I feel I should warn would-be newcomers what this place is really like -- just so uninitiated folks know what to expect. To say that Niks is a "dive" is an understatement -- Niks dived, and then SANK, seemingly quite some time ago. It was absolutely the most disgusting place I have been in since living in Senegal, West Africa, and was less savory than many of the places I ate in that undeveloped country! Their website says, "Sorry no ambience, just character. After all, the building is 143 years old." I would translate that from the Greek to read, "Ambiance which screams turn around and walk out, the character of a run-down campsite, and a backlog of about 140 years of cleaning and maintenance." Just my opinion. Niks was so dark, dank, dilapidated, sad, and gross that I was afraid to order anything to eat, fearing that the food could not be safe if the upkeep and housekeeping were so abysmal. However, I screwed up my courage and stayed for supper because I was meeting a friend (her choice), and I will say my veggie wrap was very tasty, and did not poison me. The pint of local beer was reasonably priced as well. There was no live music when we were there (for which I, personally, was thankful), and the service, though cheerful, was very slow. This must be a true "neighborhood bar," where the enthusiasm stems from the comaraderie found among the less-than-fastidious locals who dont mind hanging out with their fellow barflies in a filthy hole-in-the-wall; and BTW there IS an ACTUAL hole in the wall in the ladies room, along with a good deal of crude graffiti on the intact walls. And on the nearby mens room door appears a heartwarming yet stomach-churning sign which reads "Old farts freeway," or something to that effect. As I arrived at the establishment, someone was coming out with several to-go boxes -- if you really want to test out the veracity of the "great food!" comments in these reviews, this is perhaps your best choice. However, I would recommend closed eyes while inside the place or dark glasses to obscure the view, or you might not have the courage to actually order anything prepared here, even if to be eaten elsewhere. Perhaps this place has been overlooked by the Cobb County or Marietta health inspectors because it is classified as a bar, not a restaurant? (though it has an extensive menu) or perhaps it is owned by a public official or a friend thereof who simply makes the usual health inspections "go away?" I cant understand why this place is still open, though they are obviously doing something right for a lot of people, since it has, astonishingly, been in business for years. I guess its true what people say: "Theres a lid for every pot." I do congratulate Niks on having a very visible "courtesy van" parked in front of the building, painted with the slogan, "For our special customers," or something similar. At least the management is conscientious about offering their customers a ride home after an evening of imbibing. I wish all restaurants/bars would do the same!

Ill give it to this place, the live music is great! But, I just have to say, never have I witnessed such a rude and disrespectful bartender... This girl was just flat out nasty. After seeing how a particular situation was handled by her, I had to share. By far the most unprofessional way a supposed "manager" should treat a customer. Unfortunately, for this place, a friendly staff should be top priority on their list... As that would really be the only thing that could set this dive bar apart from the rest (other than the gyros and music, of course). However, its quite apparent that its not. Continue with that little teeny bopper behind the counter and Im sure it will be a recipe for success. That, coupled with the fact that you just may fall through the floor while youre inside, creates an awesome environment. Good luck, guys.

I recently went to a friends birthday party here, and now that Ive been, Ive been mad at myself for not finding out about Niks sooner. This place is in an older house, so it has a lot of "character". There is pool, foosball, and dont forget the amazing greek food. I was a bit skeptical reading all of the reviews on here that say Niks has some of the best greek food in marietta until I took the first bite of my Gyro. Definitely one of the best Ive had in North Atlanta. Add in Niks potatoes with Niks sauce and a cold beer and its not hard to see why this place is packed on a Friday night. Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good food and a good time.

I went to this place based off the stellar reviews, Niks lived up to the hype. The service was friendly and prompt. The food came out rather quickly, I was almost concerned about how quick it came out, but gyro was excellent. I was informed that Monday through Friday, 3-6pm the menu is 25% off, I had a gyro fries and a drink for a little over $6, you cant eat excellent food like that anywhere else! Everything was great, although if youre not a smoker/sensitive to smoke, this isnt your place to be as everyone (even the staff) has a cigarette in hand and ash trays on every table.

I have read all the reviews and as a local Woman who grew up in the un- incorporated Due West est.1974, I have watched this 1900 building turn into several things. Niks is by far the best, if you like Awesome Live Bands (Legends come here), great food, pool, video games, poker nights. Niks place has a comfortable atmosphere yet Kool enough to have all walks of life Chillin together. Stop in some time and join the Atmospher(: see you there. This is almost the last Smoker Friendly Bar and Grill.

Niks is full of character--its in an old house, and a variety of locals of all ages hang out here. The stuffed grape leaves are the best in the world. The hamburgers, too. Ive never eaten anything here that wasnt delicious. This place is loaded with personality and its great getaway. Laid-back, fun, cheap, and always an interesting night!

No doubt its a dive, but the food is great, the people are friendly and the beers are cold! Its not a family place or a fancy place, but if youre looking for a great place for affordable drinks and food and maybe a game of pool or some decent live music, Niks is a nice alternative to the crowds at Hemingways.

Fun bar with bingo, open mic night, live blues bands. Try the Nik kebab combo with pork and greek potatoes. The food is top notch. Video slots in the game room. Great place to end your night. When its a decent temperature outside, the back porch is great.
