Ive been living in Cincy near Northside (and this bar) for almost 4 years now. So many people rave about it. Everybody else absolutely despises it. Ive tried it out so many times, wanting to like it, but dammit the place is just horrible. Before midnight/~11pm the crowd is mediocre at best, and the staff is always rude and short. After midnight, it seems much worse. The crowd is mostly drunk, or young hipsters who cant wait to ignore a good conversation or tell you how "uncultured" you are, all while feigning interest in the music despite the fact that they dont know a bass from a banjo. Worse, the staff after 11pm is terrible. Theres this older bartender there who is one of the rudest, most ungrateful bartenders Ive ever met. Hes often drunk. The food is also terrible... often containing vegetables that are still frozen in the middle. The only reason I keep trying this place out is because of the music it draws (I love bluegrass). Though honestly, theyre smaller bands that are OK (Id love to support them more), but youre better off visiting someplace else in Northside, or Fries in Clifton for good newgrass. Overall this place is just terrible. First ever "Google Review" here...

I picked up dinner for us on 6/18/2004. It really is a very unique place. For all intents and purposes, its a bar. But if you are in the know, you are aware of the fact that there is a small kitchen in the back, accessible only through a window. You order and pay up front, then take your receipt to the cooks counter in the back. Im no expert on bars, so I cant really rate this one. As far as the food goes, pretty much all they have are burritos. They do have several vegetarian options: The Comet, a black bean, a pinto bean, a mixed bean, and a tofu-jerky burrito. I had the tofu-jerky burrito; Debi had the black and tan. They were both very good. I should also note that the burritos are huge. You could easily split one between two people; unless youre absolutely starving, it really is more than one person can eat. The burritos are fairly inexpensive and worth the amount you pay.

I tried to order queso and then sat down at a table with all of my friends who also had ordered food. I dont frequent this bar so i didnt know the exact order of business. The bartender came up and in front of all of my friends said "hate to break it to you but you have to pay for your food". That was so rude, and so embarrassing for me. OBVIOUSLY i know that if i order food, i have to pay for it. Im also in the service industry and i understand being annoyed but wow id never talk to a customer like that. The only reason this isnt one star is that after i called him out, he offered to buy my queso which i will not let him do but it was a nice gesture. Just because youre friends with my friends doesnt mean you can berate me in front of them and make me feel like an idiot for walking less than 6 ft away. I probably wont be back.

The Comet was low key. It was full of art college hipsters, that Im certain wouldnt call themselves hipsters, but it was a man bun and beardfest , and girl gauges none the less. I came to see a band play. I love new music. The bartender was nice and made a good drink. You had to ask for a menu from the bar though, then order your food from a window, where they gave you a number, so if you were a timid person, you were not eating because trying to figure out how to get food was hard. I dont want to have to watch other patrons ordering to figure out how to order food. There was no one milling around getting drinks at the tables, or waitresses and it was 9pm on a Friday. The food was surprisingly good. GREAT salsas. Bands were rough. very rough, but the food made it worth it.

Tried this place out while visiting Cincinnati for brunch. Very disappointed at how long it took for everything. Took about 30 min to order, even though there was only about 10 people in front of us. After we ordered, our food finally showed up 45 min later. It looked like the kitchen was working on one order at a time. There wasnt anything special about the food either. The place also smelt bad, too.

I like the idea of the Comet. I banned myself from going there 6 months ago, but went tonight as I had friends meeting there. Once again, rude, inattentive staff. Its a place for young hipsters to hang and be in the know. No problem. I recognize that the Comet has affordable, healthy food and is supportive to Cincinnatis music community. It just seems to an outsider to have a chip on its shoulder.

Went there last night to see The Bluegrass Allstars band. They were excellent. The service from the bartenders is horrible. They totally ignore you even if you are standing right in front of them. The mens room is one of the most disgusting places on earth. The food was ok. The two stars I gave it was because they had good music. If not for that Id give it maybe 1/2 star.

One of the best burritos, jukebox, and Sunday brunches in the city. Food prices are a great value, better than Chipotle or other burrito joints. Okay to take your kids during the day. It is also a bar with a great selection of beer. The kitchen is open late so if you get the muchies after a night of "socializing" you have great eats, in-house, to satisfy that craving.

This comet is unique ", young and older. People enjoy the food people and bands that arrive hear, they plug in. Play their music free ", then another band arrives at any given time. Plugs in , free music. One band called ( lung ) she played very well! Dont miss lung. As they travel. Most do whom play here..again COMET IS UNIQUE. GREAT. AWESOME. ME! Just a customer

A Northside tradition burritos are amazing. Word to the wise the hot salsa is hot. Beer selection is one of the best in the city. Some bartenders can be a bit standoffish but others are down to earth and just expect you to act like an adult. I personally prefer this place earlier as a place to grab a bite to eat as we start the night.

The jerk tofu burritos are absolutely to die for, and I mean this in the most macabre way. Sunday night bluegrass music is great, but the place gets jam packed, so you may end up eating standing up. Try the salsa of the month, especially if it happens to be a Tomato Curry month.

Day4 of cross country trip. Biggest selection of different beer which is good. Didnt eat so couldnt give a fair review on the eats. Looked like they could have like music but not the night I was there. Id give it a B-. Good but nothing to write home about.

Great beer selection, amazing and eclectic live music seems like everyday. The food is amazing, its burritos tacos quesadillas etc. Phenomenal, the salsa of the month is always my favorite and the price is shockingly low. Wonderful place, I love the comet
