I have never felt the need to write a review about an established but I have never felt so cheated, tricked, and such lied to by a business establishment. As a matter of fact, this business blatantly stole from me. This establishment is hood and ghetto. The managers are liars and thieves and they have no shame in doing so. A friend and I visited the Ubar to watch the NBA finals. We are both part of a National organization of professional African Americans who focus on the economic empowerment of the Black community. Part of the reason we drove 25 miles from home to come to the Ubar was to support one of Atlanta’s black owned businesses. They had advertised a that they would show the game but never indicated that it would be $10 per person to enter the bar just to watch the game at 8:30PM. A business establishment has a right to do this so this was not a problem. I asked the man that was charging people if I could step in for a second and ask a hostess if they had a table available for us to sit. (He refused to tell us if they had seats available). We did not come to club or party and did not want to stand up for 3 hours while watching the game and eating. He responded in a rude manner and said if I go in (EVEN for a second), we would have to pay $10. Remember that this is at 8:30. He spoke to us rudely but we remained polite and calm. An older lady beside him indicated that they were still tables and we wouldn’t have a problem. We both paid the man a total of $20 and walked in. Soon as we walked in, a hostess told us that there were no tables available. We went back outside to try to get our refund and go somewhere else and he refused even though we had been in the establishment for less than a minute. He said that we needed to talk to an ‘inside’ manager named Alvin. We spoke to Alvin explained the situation. He indicated that the man outside was the ‘outside’ manager and that he TRICKED us into paying. Those were his words. “You got tricked” and he stated “I cant get him to give you your money back, because we work different areas, but I can meet you half way and give you $10 out of my pocket”. Meet you half way? This is from a manager! He told us that’s all he could do for us. All this while we were flanked by other workers and security. As a result we never the bar and will never return. I have never in my life experienced such a mindset and business tactic from a business. The people that work at Ubar are thieves who blatantly admit that they will trick you into stealing money from you and laugh in your face. They are so determined so to do this that they are willing to lose money more and future business for $20. The bar never felt safe. There were multiple security guards and police inside and outside the bar and men had to be aggressively patted down. All this at 8:30pm to watch a NBA game. This business does what it wants and hopes that the clientele will not care about the bad reviews because they offer $2 drinks and 25cents wings. If you notice that in all the reviews, the “UBAR management” tells people to come back and give them another chance without offering to solve the problem? Give you another chance to provide bad customer service and steal money from them?

Purchased Hookah last night, I was in the fence because our Waitress.. Was so dent, I ordered wings and Long Island 10 dollar pitcher. Was told to split flavors I had to order 20 piece, fine, order lemon pepper and hot. Pitcher comes out... Its margarita.. Ok she tasted it and said your right, she took the pitcher and what we poured already, who cares it wrong anyway. Waited an hour to get our food... Food comes, Great, people behind us came way after and was already eating might I add. She drops the food off and leave. The lemon pepper was good. The hot.. So cold, felt like it sat over night. So I informed our waitress that the hot was cold, I placed them in the bone plate, she walks off. Comes back and placed them on the table. I put my finger on it. And they had placed them in the microwave to warm them up yuck! What the heck! I told her take those back and dont even worry about it! Next.... The hookah, I was on the fence allllll night about the hookah, only two flavors to pick from. Candy Apple and mint. Finally decided to pick candy apple, I could smell the sweet aroma from a hookah near by.. Great I can do that one, ordered, payed up front, just for the hookah to come out and its MINT! Noooo thats not what ordered. Asked for manager to be involved, waitress clearly dents, tell me its mixed, mint and candy apple. Manager defensive before he got to me, told me no refund,, but thats not what I ordered! He said waitress only suppose to sell hookah, no flavors, but she sold me a flavor CANDY APPLE, candy apple and mint are on two different flavor scales. I can crew gum to have mint flavor if thats what I wanted! He told me that I can wait till he sell it to someone else to get a refund, then he told me the waitress had to pay for it out her pocket! I didnt smoke the hookah or get a refund! One of the guys at the table just handed me 20 bucks because they was over it! After the guy, at my table paid me for the hookah, she took it off the table??? I bet the resold it after the guys at my table paid me for it. Shady shady! My money I go to my job and work for should be spent on what I want, your serving me, customers should be treated right and once people stop coming they will wish they paid attention

I would say that I dont like this place but thats not really it. What I dont like is the fact that its clear the management is more concerned with ensuring their primarily female staff is more "hot-looking" than actually "capable" of performing the job of waitress. My friends and I visited this establishment Saturday. Our young waitress was having trouble either remembering to bring our orders and bills and/or accurately remembering who had what. To me, that wasnt her fault. That kind of issue usually lies with poor training. Once she realised she was in over her head, a more capable "sounding" waitress came over to help her take control and get things back in order. That was a failure as well. As she basically doubled the very same incompetency as the first waitress. This issue prolonged our stay. The manager seemed very disconnected when one of my party asked for his assistance. His reaction made me feel more like he was annoyed to be asked to do what hes paid to do. I think the U Bar was a great place when they first opened about 10 years ago. Now its a second rate Hooters with nowhere near the same harmonious flow of service from seating, to service, to the kitchen, to the bill at the end of your meal.

This place is really horrible and unprofessional. I wish there was a negative star button. My friend and I came to this establishment to have a few drinks on a slow Monday. We stayed for a hour but was surprised they closed at 2am instead of 4am like their postings. Since it was a little after two we chugged our drinks and left. Due to trying to get out of there I accidentally left my wallet on the table. Granted I have been an easy customer and left $15 tip on $32 I felt I could hurry and rush back to retrieve it. I was headed back about thirty mins after and called to let them know Im headed back, who my server was and exactly what table I was just sitting at. Unprofessional as Phillip told me they didnt find anything, not to come back because they are closed. I pleaded to let me come right back but was denied. Of course the very next morning, opening time my wallet was found with about $100 stolen. They did not care....Phillip even told me that same night to not get mad at him because he didnt leave his wallet. And this is suppose tone a manager. Not only do they not care about their guest but they dont care if they have thrives working for them as well. So sad....but true.
