I worked for many years as a butcher when beef came in quarters and not in boxes as it does today. I know meat and the folks at Wilkes are quite good at what they do. I just tried to order a Xmas goose and they told me to try Publix frozen section. Wilkes also told me if no joy at Publix - they would get me a goose. BTW I use my large offset smoker for ham and beef brisket. The folks at Wilkes suggested I try to smoke a turkey - wow what a winner. Unlike other butchers in the area - you can trust Wilkes to do an honest and great job with their meats.

My family has been going to Wilkes for years to get good meat deals. However, the service is never friendly lately. They almost act like its a burden to help you. So I started phoning in my orders but still the people are unfriendly and each time so far my order has been wrong. I really hope they fix their staff issues or I am going to start shopping elsewhere!!! The meat is normally great except the country style ribs seem to always have little bone fragments other than the main large rib bone in them.

A GREAT local butcher shop, out in the North Georgia countryside. I will drive out of my way, to visit! Their meats are superior quality to the "chain stores". Prices are good, especially if you spring for one of their packages as posted on the back wall; these offer a 20% plus discount. Highly recommended! P.S... they also have a small buffet offering a "meat & 2 vegetables" paper plate lunch; a favorite for the locals!

I took my very first deer there for processing. The folks were very nice, and the guy who checked me in was especially helpful. After 3 days, I got a call telling me my meat was ready. Checkout was easy, and again, everybody was very nice. The meat looks to have been prepared well and matched my order. Vacuum packing might have been nice, but the meat came in small, clearly marked trays, which is fine too.

We went in for the first time and every one was very nice and helpful. The quality of the meat is great! The lady at the front was really sweet and even gave us some samples of wings. It was a great experience going there compared to the customer service of most places these days.

best meat market ever, went in and purchased a 40 pound box of chicken breast, and I must say that is the best chicken Ive ever had! Ive been purchasing from grocery stores up until this point, the quality and price do not compare.

Best smoked wings this side of anywhere! Local, friendly staff. Meats cut to order, saavy shopper for great discounts. Chef on staff offers great suggestions. Ive been buying all my meat here for over 6 years.

Called and ordered about 10 lbs. of beef for jerky. They said they would slice the meat and we said a little less than 1/4 of an inch and when got home with the meat it was paper thin.

Phenomenal bbq, great butcher in the back. Theyll give you some package deals, nothing extraordinary but the freezer packs are pretty good. Wish theyd use gloves though.
