Mylon Pruett
uggestions: Cappuccino, Latte Pros: Really strong espresso (so any espresso drinks really are awesome), tons of study/hangout space, just fantastic coffee overall Cons: Parking lot is super tiny and then its street parking only Thoughts: Hi, my name is Mylon and I’m addicted to coffee. I’m well aware its a problem, and I have absolutely no desire to fix it. So since I’m an whole hearted, sold out, addict lets talk places to get a great fix…Octane is one of them. I am here almost every-single-time I am near Atlanta, it is really that good. Their espresso is strong enough that it could put it’s caffeine foot through the back of you throat if you aren’t used to strong coffee. The remarkable thing though is that it does this while still maintaining an incredible flavor. Often as coffee gets strong it also gets less flavorful, I’m not sure what Octane is doing but they manage to avoid this. All of their espresso drinks are just amazing. They also roast their own coffee so you know your getting freshly roasted beans, and if you make your own coffee at home you have to try their beens. I’m pretty much in love with Octane and if you haven’t checked them out….well, let me introduce you to one of my dealers :)

New year. New me. New favorite coffee shop? Check. Octane is a place I have often heard about for great coffee and a good environment for studying. My first visit to this establishment definitely lived up to this expectation! During my quick pop-in for a cup o joe, I fell in love with the charming decor and modern, yet cozy ambiance. I wanted to sit down with my laptop and get to work; the mood here sparks productivity and creativity. I ordered the Santa Elena hand-brewed coffee, described as a "single origin coffee with hints of brown sugar, apricot, fig, blackberry, and cocoa nib." It was great! For someone who doesnt like strong coffees or drinking coffee black - I could enjoy this one with no cream or sugar necessary. Ill definitely be back to this shop. If not for the coffee... then definitely to try the several delicious-looking pastries and sandwiches that are also available.

I am really, really, really going to miss this place. Fresh roasted craft coffee, nationally renown, local to Atlanta. Maybe Ive been spoiled by having access to 1-day old roasted coffee for my pourover, but I do not want to think about the day they are gone. Revelator is a fantastic shop as well and their coffee is always fresh but having bought both, impartially I always preferred the Octane roast to Revelator. Not to mention that Revelator sells less beans at a premium price. Theres an emotional attachment too, of course--when I started my job here in Atlanta, Octane was my guilty pleasure over long lunches when I was in Midtown. But honestly, just on the basis of coffee purism, this is a massive loss. Best of luck to the owners, of course, and congratulations to them on a successful sale.

We received such an unwelcoming attitude from the staff and it was downhill from there. It is 2016, people, and this establishment has some major turn-offs. First off, two different cash registers that divide coffee and pastries? Two transactions, with twice the amount of time wasted. Get some advice from an accountant and set up your transactions like everyone else. Do not force your customers to spend their time going through two cash registers that are right next to each other. Please also treat your customers with some courtesy instead of rudeness. The atmosphere: they are trying to be modern and hipster, but they forget that, without customers, they will become a failed business. Greet, smile, and make it easy to enjoy a coffee and croissant.

Note: this review is for the Westside location at Howell Mill and W Marietta St, not the Grant Park location, which Ive never been to. Somehow Google still hasnt figured out how to disambiguate reviews and ratings across multiple locations of the same business... Best coffee shop I know in town. Their espresso is better than their French press, but I dont think Im a fan of French press (really wish they did pour-over). Serves donuts from Sublime as well as some other pastries and sandwiches (I havent tried the sandwiches, but the baked goods are nice). They also have a formidable beer tap selection - about a dozen very interesting looking beers with many Belgians - and are open decently late, but Ive only been here for coffee.

Its an ok coffee house. Offers a totally different vibe that reminds me of school mixed with hospital. The tables are like being a a schools art class and all of the silver and stainless steel seems so sterile rather than trendy. The music is kind of loud but they serve alcohol beverages so I guess it goes together. Not sure but if you arent working on something that requires a large amount of concentration or just meeting with friends to catch up this is the perfect place. As for serious coffe drinkers and partial quiet seekers this is a bad deal. The coffee is good. I ordered a caramel macchiato and enjoyed it to the last drop. The presentation was wonderful as well.

This place is akin to my second office space. I love the laid back vibe that is present. The daily rotation of small treats is great as well. As much as I have been excited about a coffee house that serves coffee and drinks, I have yet to try one of their alcoholic drinks yet. When its warm out I love to sit out on the patio to do work. Be sure to have your appliances charged before you arrive as there is a lack of outlets. Parking can sometimes be a hassle, Ive always been able to luck up and park in the parking lot, so be sure to arrive early if youre going there for a meeting.

Pros: Great coffee, cool vibe Cons: The store is divided into two business: The Little Tart and Octane, so essentially you wait in one line for coffee while someone holds up the second line for over priced tarts. Also, its the only place where the cashier will talk to a customer in front of you in line for 5 minutes while you patiently wait for a simple coffee. One size coffee and its $$ 2.71. I understand paying more money for "locally" purchased and sourced coffee, but $ 3 for a small coffee that drips out of the lid consistently...? I am good for now.

This is for the location at the Jane--Google seems to be mixing reviews and photos for the other locations. The bakery is great, especially their breakfast items. Arrive early if possible; it fills up fast. Get there before 10am on Sundays and youll generally be golden. Great coffee, both pour-overs and espresso. There be campers here, and I do wish they would flush them out, but if you get in early, it isnt a concern. Nice outdoor seating too, but not sheltered enough to be usable in inclement conditions.

Nearly everyday I walk my dog through Oakland Cemetery on our way to Octane. I tie him up to the fence at the outdoor patio and get my usual. Im always greeted well by the Baristas and my dog gets a few pats out of it too. I enjoy going here and sitting on the patio and just taking a moment to enjoy my drink and the atmosphere. Usually youll find a variety of people here from artists, entrepreneurs, friends and people on dates. I never feel uncomfortable coming.
