I ordered the beef chow fun, eggplant casserole, and walnut shrimp. What I liked about this place was they these, some of my favorite dishes, in one place whereas before I would need to go to several places to get the same entrees. The beef chow fun is a sort of plumbline I use at all Chinese restaurants to judge the overall quality of the food there. Its worked well before, because if you mess this simple dish up, youre probably going to mess up the others in some way. Anyway, I found the dish was well cooked, though it could have used a bit more flavor (and not just adding soy sauce). Otherwise, texture of the beef was good, and the noodles were good. The walnut shrimp had too much mayonnaise on it, and there were very few shrimp (I counted 9 or so), so this was a disappointment. What shrimp there were tasted ok though. Last but not least, the eggplant casserole. I used to eat this at a place called Wan Lai, but that place has since folded after the first chef left. I was eager to try this dish, since it was my first time at Hong Kong Harbor. It wasnt spicy (which was how the menu described it), and it was very oily - more oily than I had seen this same dish cooked elsewhere. The taste was more salty than spicy, so I was disappointed. However, the texture was good: the eggplant was tight yet moist, and had not been overly steamed so it retained its integrity. Oh, they had chyrsanthemum tea, which was a definite plus. I appreciated how the waiter asked whether I preferred the tea with or without sugar (definitely without)! The service was excellent, and the waiter was very polite and attentive to our needs. I think I would give Hong Kong Harbor another chance, and try different dishes before either adding this place to my "cuisine list" or removing it from consideration altogether. In this economy, everyone deserves a second chance, right?

I finally tried this place for the first time about 8 years ago, one night after a concert with friends. I love the fact that it is open late, never crowded, although it is on a kind of seedy part of town. One Saturday, my partner and I stopped by this place for a late lunch. If you havent been able to tell by reading my reviews, I am definitely one that is not afraid to try different foods. On this particular day, I decided to let my country boy side shine through, so I made the decision to try the fried pork intestine. The server told me that I was not going to like them, and that kind of stuff usually ticks me off, but since she was older I decided to respect her and told her that I would like them, and I wanted what I ordered. She placed the order and brought them out and watched as I ate them, and she was shocked when I told her that I liked them, which I actually did. Granted, they were hot and if you order them, this is how you need to eat them. Letting them get cold is not a good idea, unless you are going to take them home and reheat them in a toaster oven to get them hot and crispy again. Otherwise, this is my favorite appetizer at this place. I have had the fried pork, salt & pepper calamari, and the roasted duck, which are all very good. When I go here its usually kind of hard for me to make a decision as to what I am going to get once I look past the appetizer list. The one thing that I love about this place is that you can almost always walk in and find a seat quickly. Otherwise, if you have some concern about this place near some seedy establishments, you may not want to go, but otherwise, its a good place to go for reasonably priced food.

This was the worst food experience in EVER. I dont say this lightly. Normally, I am the picky one and my husband would eat just about everything, but this experience shed new light. We ordered Eggdrop soup with chicken and corn, Shrimp Fried Rice, and another dish with fried noodles with a seafood mixture (I cant think of the name of the dish). My husband did not like any of the dishes and the only thing I enjoyed was the eggdrop soup with the fried wontons. There was no flavor in the other two dishes. We added soy sauce, chilli sauce, and another sweet sauce that was on the table. Nothing worked and we gave up trying to bring flavor and took the dishes home. I dont know if they were training a new cook or what, but I will never be back. From my pictures, we took almost the whole dishes home. The prices are reasonable and the service was decent.

I live pretty close to this restaurant and it is my “go to” restaurant for Chinese food. I’ve been here twice and enjoyed both occasions dining here. My first time was on a Saturday for their dim sum menu. It wasn’t crowded at all and the carts came by frequently. Unlike other dim sum restaurants, most of their dishes were considered the “small” category (under $3) when other restaurants usually upcharge at medium to large prices. Food was good, but I wouldn’t say the best dim sum I’ve ever had. The second time I was here was for dinner and dishes were excellent. I can’t speak for the Amerian-Chinese menu for take-out, but the food here is pretty authentic when ordering other things from the menu (not General Tso’s chicken, sweet and sour, etc). Service is also very good and they all speak Cantonese.

Great place for Dim Sum. This is one place though, I would recommend waiting till it gets busy...why you ask? Im personally someone that prefers shopping and eating at places off peak hours, but for dim sum you need to visit when its almost full, because this means they are making fresh food and will have a large variety being offered to choose from. If you go during quieter hours, they have a smaller offering and less staff bringing them out, and it may have been sitting for quite some time, so not as fresh. Try for a seat close to the kitchen, as if you closer to the entrance, the carts might have been picked off before it gets to your table which can become quite irritating. Very well run, reasonable prices. A little run down, but still clean. Parking can be difficult.

We are here on Sunday May 22nd with friends and to our surprise and delight it was Dim Sum style! Apparently they serve Dim Sum style on weekend mornings. Their BBQ pork buns and sweet pineapple-cocoanut buns were my favorites! We also tried shark-fin (pork) dumplings, pork vegetable dumplings, pork and peanut dumplings, shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp, and more! It was all delicious! So delicious in fact we came again today!! Because its a weekday we ordered off the menu. My husband tried the beef with seasonal vegetables and I had more bbq buns! It was fantastic! The wait staff is prompt and friendly and the price is more than reasonable. On Sunday for four people Dim Sum style it was only $60! Today two people ordering from the menu it was only $20!! Great value!!

1. Extremely rude guy on the phone--not just once; but every time I have called this place. Have you experienced the same? If so, please mention it in your review. 2. If you are health-conscious enough not to drink a glass of heavily reused and rancid oil, then just dont get tempted to order from this place. The taste of rancid oil lingers in your mouth for long after eating the food. Banned this Hong Kong Horror for ever from my list of restaurants.
