We placed our order and sat down. We received our food in a timely manner, but our drinks took forever. And I did not receive my drink till I finished my food and was ready to leave the place. Also during eating, Im assuming somebody that works there, somebody my group has never met before, came up to us and told us very rudely and disrespectfully to leave the restaurant as one of our group members made her uncomfortable. Her name was Farrel, she has dreads and face piercings. I did not leave as I had paid for the meal and had not yet received my drink. Getting close to finishing up, farrel comes back to our table and again rudely and disrespectfully ask us to leave because one of our group members was making her uncomfortable. At this point I intervined and told her that as a paying customer I had every right to sit here and eat my meal without being interupted and being disrespected. She forcefully gave us to-go boxes expecting us to leave. I did not leave till my meal was finished and received my drink.

Cafe Hey is an eclectic little restaurant located behind Oceanic Oriental Supermarket, on what first appears to be a forlorn corner of downtown Tampa. Inside the walls are adorned with curious artwork, the aroma of fresh brewed coffee is wafting in the air, and youre greeted with a cheery "hey!" at the counter. Their "Cafe Con Leche" is SO good, and the "Rebel Rebel" (a pressed smoked turkey sandwich w/avocado, jalapeño jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on Cuban bread from La Segunda Central Bakery) was amazing. Café Hey seems to have a good dose of local popularity, and has a steady stream of dine in and takeout orders. They are also on Uber Eats. The prices are very reasonable, there is indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of free on-street parking with overflow at Oceanic Supermarket. They also have bicycle racks making it a good stopover for an urban bike ride. All in all, two thumbs up. We are definitely going back to try more items on the menu! :)

Im not sure where the other reviewers ate, but it couldnt have been the same place my boyfriend and I went to this afternoon. Maybe they are staff members or friends of the owners... The staff was unfriendly and noticeably frustrated, clearly did not care to be working. They were annoyed at our ordering and took it incorrectly. The chai blend, I have to say was good, albeit iced even though I didnt request an iced latte. They had a tomato bisque - not good by any stretch of the word. And the Tank sandwich was gross. Pretty sure they used Frenchs mustard. The bread was stale. There was even a warning on the wall - "everything sucks." We should have taken this forewarning. $24 and a terrible meal later, the boyfriend and I left disappointed. Its a poor location but cute place that could really be a little hot spot. If I could give no stars, I would.

A trendy hipster style hangout just on the outskirts of downtown Tampa (Tampa Heights) serving up vegan and vegetarian cuisine along with a great spin on the local favorite "Cuban sandwich) . They also have a great variety of salads and warm and cold sandwiches to compliment an expanse selection of unique coffees and lattes. I ordered the Mi-Cubano and it was delicious. The pork was tender and moist and the cuban bread was fresh and lightly toasted. You really feel welcomed upon entering the establishment and the ambiance is cool and witty, not pretentious at all. Seating is ample for parties of four, any party larger and table sizes just are not designed to accommodate.

The good ratings on the place are well deserved. Stopped by for two or three hours on Saturday. Started with their cuban sandwich. Not quite like any I have had before. Had mayonnaise instead of mustard. Also had an abundance of vegetables. Despite not quite being like the cubans I have had before it was VERY good. Pork was cooked to perfection and I ate every crumb. Had a cuban coffee with it and it was also perfection. Later washed it all down with a nice beer as they have a good selection of unique and local beers. Not a huge place but plenty of space for their traffic level. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We jumped on the internet to find coffee near our vrbo in Seminole Heights and searched for coffee. We started checking the hits only to find that most were out of business. I called my son and got his recommendation, Café Hey. Cafe Hey is a jewel that residents of Tampa need to patronize. Their menu, coffee and sweet breads are enough to keep you coming back if you try it. You don’t like the neighborhood? I must say that treasure is usually found where others will not go. Park at the Chinese grocery or street parking right in front. We don’t have anything like this in East Texas but wish we did.

My recent vegetarian/vegan shift in diet has led to me to Cafe Hey, where I was greeted with a warm and friendly "hey". Ive met people here for lunch over a dozen times and the food has been excellent. My favorite is the VLT (Vacon, Lettuce, and Tomato). I never knew there was a substitute for bacon, so this discovery was a real treat. There are also all kinds of neat art-type things to view and the environment was more than hospitable. Definitely one of the top on my list of cute, quaint, sandwich/coffee shops and Im most certainly destined to return there.

More Bohemia than Starbucks. If your standards are high for polished corners and labels, this is not your place. If your looking for a lil laidback place for coffee, wifi, and casual conversation, this is your place. Fun decor with professional photos of roller Derby ladies and wall art. Small place with 3-2top and 4-4 tops. I came looking for a place to study. Went well, but definitely a well liked place for casual and business district customers that kept the door traffic high.

The Turkey in the Grass sandwich is definitely my go to, and they also have a variety of funky latte combinations, Gorilla Hug is surprisingly delicious. The Kale Yeah Salad was lacking, however, which is sad because I love kale salads. The staff werent very friendly and seemed annoyed, I asked for a to go box and I was given a look like I had just picked my nose in front of him. This place is really a hole in the wall, parking is in the side lot btw.

I came here for a friends bridal shower out on the patio area for about 16 ppl. It was Cafe Hey first event. I ordered the Chilaquiles and friend ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Both tasted delicious and would definitely order again. The service was wonderful as all the staff were very attentive, making sure that we were being well accommodated. There is free underground parking to the side of the plaza.

This is the best place to get coffee in the Tampa Bay area. I love that they have almond and soy milk options for the lactose intolerant folks. The art is always interesting and the atmosphere is great for an intimate group of friends or to sit by yourself reading, studying, or relaxing. The VLT is amazing and almost all the pastry options are great. Ive never had anything from here that wasnt great.
