I was in Tampa on business and wanted to visit a local roaster to get a good espresso. As I was surfing the net I stumbled upon Buddy Brew Coffee. I gave them a call to make sure they would be there, and let them know I was looking for some espresso blend. Come to find out, they dont serve espresso yet, but I decided to pay them a visit all the same. I couldnt haver made a better choice. Visiting the Buddy Brew Coffee house was the absolute highlight of my trip to Tampa. When I arrived I was greeted by the owner and his lovely wife. They sold me the blend I was looking for (I got the last 1/2 lb they had) and he gave me a tour of the place (took about three minutes.. its rather small). Then we talked a bit about coffee and that is when I realized this guy has an intense passion, a fantastic nose, and excellent pallet for great coffee. He poured me an Ethiopian roast which was just superb! Then he and his Father recommend a couple of good places to have lunch and dinner, and they too were superb! Talking with Dave and his family was so refreshing; I love to hear the passion of a small business owner with a vision and a plan. When I got home the first thing I did was kiss my wife, kiss my little girl, and tried out that double dog espresso blend. FANTASTIC! smooth, tons of creme, little nutty.... just wonderful! Buddy Brew Coffee gets my highest recommendation!.

The only good thing about BuddyBrew coffee is the coffee. That being said, attempting to park is impossible, and with them using only one register the lines are unbearable. In many cases there is no where to park and you must park blocks away and cross busy roads to actually reach the restaurant. Once inside you will be waiting for at least 15 minutes minimum to order, and 30 minutes before your drink is presented. 30 min for a cup of coffee? Most of the staff is friendly, but some of the staff seems entitled and theyre somewhat arrogant. The type of experience you will get really depends on the day you go. If it it slow, and theres good staff members, your experience will be great. If its a busy day, you might as well keep driving.

Outstanding QUALITY. Unbelievable how they keep attracting customers based on the PRICE they charge for that quality. Id return, but spending roughly $40 for lunch for my wife and I will keep me waiting until its a REALLY important reason, like celebrating our freedom after our kids have graduated from High School. Im a cheapo, if you hadnt guessed. I loved the food though, and the coffee is amazing as well. There are many flavors, textures, and tastes going on with their dishes. Its definitely for a younger, trendy, cool crowd that thinks its ok to pay $4 for an 8 oz cup of coffee. I didnt see many of us old married-with-kids types who have four or more mouths to feed, though.

Top notch coffee roasters and coffee shop. After trying the Barrel Rested roast my taste buds have tasted and seen the expertise and commitment to excellent coffee that these guys have. Ive visited here many times and every time Ive been pleasantly surprised with some I love more. Their food is just as special as their coffee. The atmosphere can be busy because of its popularity. Yet, their are times when it slows down but never witnessed it to be an empty house. Free infused water and wifi. So drink deep, eat well, chill or work, Buddy Brew is a place you dont want to miss if youre out of town and the place youve been missing out on if youre a local!

Personal taste only here, since coffee is a very personal experience. But I find all the Buddy Brew roasts have a somewhat sour flavor, which I find unpleasant. Ive tried several roasts and different preparations, and have had the same experience each time. I really WANT to support a local roaster who also provides a friendly atmosphere. Im just not happy with the flavors I get from Buddy Brew. Im sure I will go back to try it again, and will report back if I have a different experience.

This is one of the best coffee shops in the area! The place to sit is nice and large and the atmosphere is just right to have a cup. The employees are very informed on coffee and can help with any coffee related question you may have whether it is Chemex, French Press, Areopress, Kalita, and even tea related. There coffee is weighed and timed along with there great selection of teas. If Im ever back in the area I will be coming back to have an amazing cup of coffee!

Hands down, my favorite coffee shop in Tampa. When I lived in South Tampa, I would be there to work, drink coffee and have the delicious poached egg on toast 2 or 3 times a week. Even now, living in North Tampa, I try to go there 2 or 3 times a month. The knowledgeable staff honestly opened my eyes to the difference between good coffee and the mass produced stuff that everyone else serves. Well worth a trip, its not just a coffee shop, its an experience.

I just love this damn place. I could be there everyday. Great lattes and coffe. Free infused water with fruits. I tried the hangover sandwich, which is pretty much the biggest thing in the menu, and it was orgasmic. Great music station and enough outlets for your electronics. They also have a coffee lab were u can see all the mad scientists experimenting with beans. A bit hard to find parking. April 2016: latte cups just got smaller, price is the same :(

Probably "the coffee shop" of Tampa...hard to beat. The kind of place you take someone from out of town (if you are into coffee). The coffee is great in all of the many forms available. I like the lattes personally but you cant go wrong. The service is on point. The atmosphere is trendy, unique, and hip. If I were to scrutinize, there could be more parking and seating available (gets busy) and the prices are slightly high (to be expected).

I was ignored as so as i stepped passed the narrow front enterance..timed the staffed 4.45 minutes before i was asked "WHAT... would you like"!...took the barista 3 attemps and 5mins later before I recvd an over extracted and over poured double espresso, not to mention the grinds at the bottom of the cup that wasnt heated before serving the espresso in it. Staff needs to be trained accept every color of people who walk in the store.

I guess I dont understand the hype of this place. The shop itself is not conducive to sitting down and enjoying my coffee because its too small, they dont have many drinks to offer on the menu, they might have two kinds of pastries on a good day, they dont offer whipped cream... The list goes on. In their defense, the actual coffee they roast is good, but Im very surprised that its offered everywhere in Tampa.

Buddy Brew makes some of the best coffee in Tampa. Their coffee truck is at my workplace and I am a regular at their truck and go every few weeks to their Westshore location. They have alternative milk substitutes and their lattes are killer. I regularly buy beans from them as well for the days their truck isnt here. The atmosphere is super hipster, but nice and pretty quiet. My favorite coffee shop by far.
