Hi there! (5/24) Ive been coming to the Over Easy for years, it was a dont-miss when we came to Sanibel. I just had brunch there with my boyfriend. Its Tues May 23 at around 12n, and Ive never had a worse restaurant experience. The table next to us loudly made so many sexist and perverted comments to the waitress that we asked for our bill ASAP, just to get out of there. The large man, white, roughly 40, was sitting in the outside patio right corner table with a couple, and remarked at a young woman entering the restaurant "oh no boyfriend, I was waiting for that, tell me you wouldnt hit that?!. When repeatedly asking the waitress is she would dig him of he had a motorcycle, would she ride on the back?? Ya know??. When he asked if she liked motorcycles she said i like leather so maybe, and he said yeah I bet you do, I bet you like some bondage dont you??... this is a family brunch restaurant. I was stunned. I asked them to stop and said they shouldnt treat waitresses in this manner, the whole table yelled us out stating that GET OUTTA HERE IF YOU DONT LIKE IT YOU CAN LEAVE WERE REGULARS WERE HERE EVERY DAY GO ON GET OUTTA HERE!!!". Any restaurant that allows their staff to be treated so poorly and perversely , by "regulars", I cant support. Wont be returning, and will advise my friends not to as well. Update 5/25: changed from 1 star to 5. The owners got in contact with me and plan to resolve this matter. Its a hard position for them, as they can not choose who their patrons are, but they handled it with the utmost tact and respect. Would be glad to return my next trip to Sanibel. Thank you Traci and Liza!

Quaint little café that we absolutely fell in love with while staying on Sanibel Island this year. We have been to the island 3 other times but this time we ventured out more to find places to eat at instead of cooking. They are only open till 3:00 pm. and serve breakfast and lunch. Both times we ate there, for breakfast, we got immediate seating even though it was crowded, might say it was pure luck but this place runs like a tight ship. Everyone works together to get guests seated, served, and tables cleaned. The food is AWESOME! The best french toast by far that I have had. Big fluffy pancakes, several eggs benedict varieties to choose from, fresh fruit, and many other choices. It is our go to place for breakfast when we return, and we will probably try the lunch menu as well. If you stop be sure to visit their sister store in the plaza and buy a Over Easy Mug, we did they are great for my hot green tea! Side note - we saw a quick glimpse of a celebrity who came in, Keven Nealon off Saturday Night Live, that was cool.

I went there today with my husband on the last full day of our one week vacation for brunch after the Sanibel-Captiva Thiller Cruise. The experience appeared to be going well until my husband pulled an extra long hair out of his mouth derived from the banana pancakes he had been served and chomping away at! It was absolutely DISGUSTING!!! My husband and I had to literally contain ourselves from not throwing-up on the table. Shame on you, Over Easy Cafe. The manager/owner tried to compensate by not charging us for our meals, but the experience alone was enough to turn us off forever from ever eating at this place. We will definitely warn our friends and colleagues to stay away from this place when visiting Sanibel Island, FL. Yuk!!! :-(

This place is way overrated. I had the meat lovers omelette, which had barely any meat. The Texas toast French toast was dry and overcooked and the potatoes were undercooked. The coffee was pretty good, but they use an ultra dark roast, so hopefully youre into that. What ultimately made me decide Ill never be going back were the bathrooms, they were DISGUSTING! The way I see it is this: breakfast is a pretty easy meal to put together, so if Im going out for it, its for the experience. Make me feel like my money and time were well spent. If my bathroom at home doesnt reek, why would I want to eat somewhere like that?? The staff is very friendly, but poor service has never made me lose my appetite.

Consistent, great quality and good value. I can eat at the Over Easy every day of my vacation for what I could pay for one dinner at other island restaurants, and the food is better! Most restaurants on Sanibel Island survive because its too far to leave the island for a meal. The Over Easy can thrive in any location. Breakfast: Gulf Shrimp Omelet or the Eggs Benedict. Lunch: every salad on the menu and the Texas Turkey Reuben. They are only open for dinner during season. The Friday special is a Batter Fried Haddock that is on par with The Pt. Loma Seafood Market in San Diego. Its awesome! They dont herd you like cattle or treat you like a fallen piece of timber and its even pet friendly.

We unfortunately sat next to some regulars there, one of which was very homophobic and misogynistic. He said many perverse things to the waitress, who put up a good face but was obviously bothered. He, and the two with him, were loud and very disrespectful and give this restaurant a bad reputation. I wish this restaurant cared more for its employees so they wouldnt have to put up with this at noon on a Tuesday let alone any time. The experience was ruined by these self identifying regulars and if management doesnt speak to these customers or protect its employees better, I wont go back and I wont recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed the exquisite experience twice at Amys Over Easy Cafe while in Sanibel Island. It was the ambience, fine quality of cooking, and care and attentiveness from all levels of staff. The eggs were cooked in butter, the home baked goods were hot and fresh, and the restaurant decor was comfortable and festive. Our breakfast home away from home. Thanks, Amy and your Over Easy Cafe for the pleasure of starting our day off right. Brenda Buchbinder, LCSW Willimantic, CT

Well contrary to the previous post, we ate at this restaurant and the place was immaculate! Seriously, going to barf because of a hair strand? Take a look in the mirror. See all that hair. Going to throw up? Anyway we had lunch there and it was great. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good and the prices reasonable. I dont work in Sanibel. how about the previous blogger. Makes you wonder doesnt it. By the way your hair looks FABULOUS! Ken Hawk

Wir waren zwei Tage hintereinander dort und sind wirklich nur begeistert. Gute Organisation, trotz starkem Andrang! Alle Speisen sehen lecker aus und schmecken auch so. Sehr freundliches Personal, sehr zu empfehlen!

A little bit pricey, but the food was good and well-behaved leashed dogs are permitted to dine in the outside dining areas. I had an Atkins Breakfast here, which tasted just fine. If I were on Sanibel again, I would come back for breakfast again. They have specials every day as you can tell by the sign board in the photo, and a very large breakfast selection. There was a large lunch menu, too.
