I wanted to give New Shanghai a chance since I live nearby. Went for lunch (how can you beat chinese lunch prices?) and ordered egg drop soup and chicken w/vegetables. The order was ready in 5 min as expected. When I got home and opened the soup, it was so yellow that I assumed it was radioactive. Truly, this colour is not found in nature. It had a good amount of egg, but a hefty amount of corn flour to thicken it as well. Although the taste was ok, Id not order it again. The chicken w/vegetables was a little better. They provided a good portion size. The vegetables were a little overcooked so they lost most of their crunch. The amount of sauce was perfect as the meat and veg werent floating in a river. Again, a bit too much corn flour. The pork fried rice which came with it was moist and a bit oily. I should have asked for egg fried rice instead. All in all, I wasnt disappointed; however, I wont be making a trip back even though theyre so close. For those who care, they dont accept AMEX. Update: Ive been here only a handful of times since the original review, and nothing has improved. On my last visit, the person at the counter tried to start an argument with me when I asked if they had a menu online. Seriously? Their food is terribly greasy, its the standard Chinese takeaway prices, and the staff are less than pleasant so I downgraded to 2 stars.

Let me begin by saying this is the first review I ever leave on Google . Im not the type of guy to go through the effort of slandering local business, but this needs to be done. This place is the closest Chinese in my area. For convenience, I dont normally like making a longer drive to go pick up Chinese food. This is no longer the case. Lets start on customer service! The staff is quick tempered, bad listeners and follow the "it is what it is" mentality. If your order is wrong, good luck! Menu online is completely inaccurate, Lunch specials do not come with soup or salad and pricing is significantly more expensive. When told about their online menu, they deny that the menu is theirs, although its quite evident were looking at the same establishment. The food is disgusting. the chicken fried rice was extremely undercooked and the general tsos tasted like paste. My girlfriends honey chicken came with 2 sides of sweet and sour and 0 honey on the chicken. She requested a side of honey sauce. When we called back, the same lady ended up arguing with us about giving us the right sauce and how theyve been "open for a year" At the end of the day, the decision is yours whether you want to go here. As for me, any Chinese place where you have to ASK for fortune cookies is not worth it.

I would definitely not recommended this Chinese restaurant to anyone.I used to order from this restaurant regularly but since I moved out of the area the food is terrible.I ordered a lunch special shrimp fried rice with broccoli that comes with a gravy sauce.The sauce used to be a brown thicker sauce now it taste like watered down oil.The staff has never been friendly buy i went back because the food used to be good.If I could rate this a 0 star I would. Dont waste your time and money here there is many other better Chinese restaurants in Orlando.

Food is usually a hit or miss, but lately the food has been lacking. The staff is incredibly rude. It seems like they are annoyed they have to deal with customers. They dont greet you and hardly smile at you. Once I asked for a paper bag and I was charged an extra 25 cents. When you place an order on the phone they dont even give you an estimate of when your order will be ready. Despite the bad customer service I usually give in because theyre so close, but Im finally taking my business elsewhere.

Customer service absolutely the best. Love the girl there with the glasses, always nice and friendly. Because of her, I come more often then before. We always chat away. Food delicious, always hot and ready, love the crabragoon, best in town. You gotta try the the Singapore noddles, the best thats close to New York style.

food is mediocre at best, small amount for how much it costs, two pieces of broccoli in a whole dinner meal of general tsos chicken, I would expect the amount of food I was given would be for a lunch meal, not a dinner meal, chicken teriyaki sticks were not bad, no fortune cookie!!!

Food has always been consistent in price, quantity, and quality. Just wish they had delivery. East Colonial is such a b***h to travel and by the time you get there and back, you need to reheat some of the dishes.

Asked for rangoon got wonton. I dont eat meat... Then the cashier didnt want to change the order. Ask for my money back & Im not going back ever. Very rude & temperamental.
