I was visiting Miami for a long weekend a few weeks ago, coming from Toronto i have all the amenities available to me but the week before i travelled was so busy that i didnt have time to get my usual pampering done. So i researched salons in the area close to the hotel i was staying at and found Rik Rak on Brickell ave, i wanted to get acrylics done on my nails and found the price higher than i would normally pay in Toronto (US$65) even at the top salons but i figured that it was a special weekend so i would just go for it. I got there a few minutes before my appointment and was greeted by very friendly people, the main receptionist was very nice and i loved the busy and cool vibe of the salon. Problem one; my nail tech Minx was nowhere to be found, i had to wait an extra 15 minutes for them to locate her, but i was on vacation so i didnt let it bother me too much. Problem two; I asked for a semi round shape on my nails but was told that this is Miami and square is in! Ok, i thought if i hated it id file them myself after (which i did end up doing) Problem Three; when it was done and i went to pay i almost had a heart attack when they said the total was US$95! I didnt make a fuss but questioned the price, because what i saw on the website and what i understood was US$65.... I was told that i had a special nail tech (Minx) and her price was higher! Yeah thanks for mentioning that when i called to book and giving me the option. Problem four; two days later 2 nails broke! The middle finger nail broke when i twisted off the cap on my bottle of water and the pinkie nail broke when i was talking and tapped my nail on the table...rather embarrassing because i was at lunch with friends and there goes my nail flying! After paying that much for the nails i was very disapointed how quickly and easily they broke! So i called that afternoon to make a new appointment with the famous Minx to fix the two broken nails for the next day, i showed up early again to find out that she was going to be 2 hours late...i had to wait half hour for another tech to be free. Needless to say that i didnt pay for the repairs and i will be choosing a new salon next time i am in the city.

I went to Rik Rak for an hair cut and I had a terrible experience; when my hairdresser was drying my hair send me to the back with someone else to finish his job, the woman who was drying my hair didnt have experience after 5 minutes she left because she went to "rinse the hair" for another client! I was alone in the back while my hairdresser was with another client! I complain and came a guy to dry my hair (at least this person has more experience) but he left when the woman with no experience came back from "rinsing the hair from the other client". Finally came my hairdresser to finished his work. I ended up spending more than TWO HOURS in the saloon, paying extra for the babysitter (who was taking care of my baby while I was at Rik Rak) and over paying for the miserable treatment I received, this is absolutely unacceptable behavior towards any customer. This was so disheartening to experience as a customer. I would not recommend anybody to go to Rik Rak For the owner: if you want to be a "high end saloon" I would suggest you to re think your service

I was very disappointed, I had made an appointment a month in advance for my daughter with Sara for Balayage and the day before they called to say she would not be available (we were driving from Naples) they put her with Rick, when we got there they told us Rick was not the person for this. Then they placed her with another Hair Dresser, she left the salon with light brown highlights, they were not able to do what she wanted. She has brown hair (not black hair). My older daughter had an appointment with Mimi the same day, she left without nothing, she felt offended, she is rosy fair skin and they made her feel that what she wanted (balayage also) her hair is dark brown was not right because she was not blonde and blue eyed. I ended paying $300.00 for my daughter the one that ended up with highlights, not balayage as she wanted (I could have done this at home from a box for $15.00).

HATE IT!!....LOOKS LIKE A DIRTY FLEA MARKET- the service is terrible. For "being a high end salon" they are super rude and disorganize. Didnt even offer me a drink and when I ask for it they told me that I could buy it at the bar. REALLY?? The lady that was supposed to do my acrylic fill didnt speak english, but this is not the issue. For a service that is supposed to take 40 min max, she took an hour and a half and she wasnt even done. I had to tell her every step of how to do it because she had no idea of what she was doing. She cut me with the drill several times and did a complete mess on my nails with the acrylic. After more than an hour I walked out because I was almost having a heart attack!....the only good thing of my experience was when the owner approach to offer me some towels and with a wise voice told me "in this place I am the only one that thinks" well said.

First time in Miami and was staying across the street for a friends wedding. After getting my nails don (beautifully, by the way!), I decided to make an appointment to get a blow out before the event. The site lists the price at $45 (and up). I admit that I did not explicitly ask how much the the stylist I was paired with would cost, but I was shocked when I was told $75! Betty did a lovely job (though she was quite late for the appointment), but I do wish that it had been communicated up front that the blow-out would cost as much as a full haircut and style. When I asked the reasoning, she simply quoted the "and up" and said that it was just how much she charged. Left a bad taste in my mouth after what had been a great experience.

I LOVE RIK RAK. The complete services I get there are so uniformly great that when I moved an hour away I decided to drive an hour each way to keep going to RIK RAK. Sue for nails, Marcello for cut, Letitia for wax and the famous Rik for color. Then there is a cafe that will bring you coffee or wine or a sandwich to the station so you are comfortable. Then there are clothes. (Hot ones) and jewelry. I try to pass all that by. I havent tries massages yet but,,, Anyway, its addictive.

Just relocated to Miami and I LOVE this Salon! Very talented Rik did my color. I was so happy! Really talented and great with blondes. Cesar cut and styled my hair, totally modern and chic. Raquels boutique so fabulous I got the perfect cool sunglasses, there are chic beaded dresses and a european feel to the sportswear. I have shopped all around the world and Raquel has an eye! So happy to have a place that I can now go to for everything! That is rare!
