How can you serve ice cream with a pissed off scowl on your face?? What a disappointment! The girl behind the counter seemed angry and pushy while we were deciding on a flavor. It felt so uncomfortable. I ended up choosing two flavors I was not too sure about. This was my first time and I felt a little anxious cause of the girl behind the counters stare. So I went with whatever I chose. I picked cafe con leche and Abuela Maria. I had no idea what was in the Abuela Maria but I was even more disappointed when the scoop she gave me had no pieces of whatever was in it... I still dont know whats in it! All I tasted was vanilla ice cream. Lol. When we asked, she got a bit of an attitude. I walked away. The cafe con leche was really over powering, but the cookies pieces were great and eaten with the cone made it come together nicely. Im so disappointed about this experience because I had heard some good things about this place. I didnt think it was going to feel so unfriendly or I was going to be pressured to choose a flavor. It was a little ridiculous. I also got a parking ticket. To be honest, I should have just stayed home. Sorry.

TOTAL RIP-OFF AND ALL HYPE I am from Miami. I am Cuban. I grew up eating Cuban food, in Little Havana. Just steps from where this place is located. I think that makes me qualified to opine on this place. It sucks. I am giving them one star for the awesome decor, funny T-shirts and clever variety of flavors. But the actual ice cream SUCKS. The ice cream is made with thickeners and poor ingredients and the flavors are lacking in, well, FLAVOR. If you are going to sell guava and Abuela Maria cookie ice cream, you better actually put guava and cookies in it. Not just a tiny chunk of guava or cookie here and there. Same goes for the Mantequado, Coconut, etc. All the flavors scrimp on ingredients big-time. Shame on them for charging 5 dollars for what is essentially rip-off ice cream that claims to be flavored with something but it actually is not. If you buy some milk, cream, sugar, a can of Goya cascos de guayaba and a stick of cream cheese, and throw it in an ice cream machine, you will make better "Cuban" ice cream than this overpriced, overrrated junk. Save your 5 bucks. Its all hype.

Whether you want a traditional cone of ice-cream that is just plain delicious or an exotic, Caribbean dessert, Azucar is the place to visit! Ice-cream is made with all natural, fresh ingredients. Sadly, this means that flavors come and go with the seasons :( While I love my basic flavors (Strawberry is to die for and I crave the Pistachio) you can also enjoy more uniquely Cuban fare, like Abuela Maria. I love that portion sizes are reasonable, but you can also splurge here quite readily! The best part is that prices are well within reason (and cheaper than most chain ice-cream stores). Staff is friendly, welcoming, and courteous. Not sure what you want? Theyll let you sample to your hearts content!

AZUCAR!! What a fitting tribute to the queen :) Journeyed to Little Havana from Brickell after a disappointing dinner at OTC (read my review on them for more detail) looking for a sweet pick me up. Azucar did not disappoint, even though some of the flavors were out (it was late), they still had Abuela Maria, a vanilla ice cream with gava paste and Maria cookies-- sooo Miami and so delish. I also had the guava ice cream and sampled a few others, but Abuela Maria was the best. The place was cute and clean, you can eat outside on 8th street and they have a gigantic neon ice cream sign in the front. What more could you want?

Nothing better than a homemade scoop of ice cream in a warm waffle cone. Azucar has a historic reputation here. It would be your assumption that they could cater to food allergies a bit better being a homemade ice crwam shop, but its pretty difficult to feel secure about even their individually packaged ice creams when the staff doesnt have food allergy knowledge or training themselves, just a little booklet with each flavors ingredients. It was difficult to pick a flavor for me (gluten allergy) and for my younger brother (nut allergy). Otherwise, its a very cute ice cream shop right on the historic Calle 8.

Overall, the ice cream was just okay. Tried the mantecao and my husband tried the key lime. The mantecao was creamy, but had a bit too much cinnamon overpowering the flavor. Not a fan of key lime to begin with and I found the flavor of the ice cream to be too tart. Service was just okay as the two people behind the counter seemed bored and not really into their work. They had run out of coffee cups by 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night and were unable to accommodate requests for cafecito. The few tables were dirty as was the floor. Finally, the price point for the ice cream is high.

Came here twice last weeks. You can get three scoops for under $6! And youre going to want three because you want to try all their flavors! They let you have free samples before choosing. The people are very nice. Two tables outside and a bench and few tables inside. Theyll have at least 24 flavors ready. My favorite is the Abeulita Maria and 4 leches. Their ice cream is not too sweet-just right!

I cannot even decide what I like most about this place - the place itself or the desserts. A reasonable human being would conclude that it is about the deserts as there are many other sites where you may feel comfortable, yet the restaurants/shops where good ice cream are can be found... are not so many. However I do feel the charm of the place is a combination of both - atmosphere and sweets.

This place is a must see in Little Havana! You cant miss its colorful and vibrant ice cream decorated exterior and once you walk inside youll be hit with colors and smells of sweetness! The ice cream itself is hand crafted and tastes great especially after a hot meal. I would recommend to try all the flavors but my personal favorite is the Abuela Maria!

Excelentes helados. Me gusta "abuela Maria". Si el local fuese un poco mas amplio, seria mucho mejor, pero eso no le quita la calificacion que les di.

I actually love this place. Its small but super pretty, colorful, and the ice cream is pretty good. There are so many interesting flavors and the staff have no problem with giving you samples. Its low-key expensive because one scoop is like $4 but theyre also not that stingy with the scoops. You can write on the walls with chalk too!!!
