Still looking for that perfect elusive pastrami sandwich. Based on reviews, we decided to try Fat Jacks Deli and Pub. No, it’s not a real Jewish Deli, but you know what, I felt comfortable when we walked through the front door. Found our own table, server came quickly and dropped the menus taking our drink orders. One draught that came in a nice cold mug and an ice tea. Thought what kind of pastrami sandwich do you get for $4.89…certainly can’t be very big. Well that’s what we ordered, and while we waited, looking around you could tell the place had been here a long time. The carpet wasn’t worn but probably could use a upgrade, at least a good steam cleaning. The bar stool supports were rusty, the chrome being gone a long time ago the seats reminded me of what you saw in a bus terminal or fountain bar years ago. The restroom was very clean. One thing that caught my eye was the A/C vents on the ceiling, they were dirty, should really be cleaned, bad things blow out of those things. My wife thought her sandwich was small so I offered to trade, she declined, and she had trouble finishing her sandwich, so I guess it wasn’t that small anyway. It certainly wasn’t huge but seemed to match the price. It did seem to be overdone, dry, and not quite sliced properly, but it was OK. Overall it was an inexpensive lunch and I have no complaints, but we will continue our quest.

I could not believe what a bad experiance a friend of mine and I had at this resturant. We had both heard such wonderful things about it. When we walked in it smelled like a bleach bottle. I can understand that they want their place clean but there are other cleaners that do just as good as bleach and doesnt smell so bad. When we sat down the waitress came up and started wiping our table. I asked her to please use something other than bleach do to my allergies. She did but then gave us attitude. Our table was left wet and paper towels thrown on the wet surface. When we got our food, mine tasted ok but not great. However, my friends food was either burnt or under cooked. Several hours after we left we both ended up with terrible stomach problems. I just cant believe how awful it was. This will be a resturant that I never go to again.

Ordered a to go sandwich (a Ruben) the cash register lady put your hands inside the Box lifts up my bread to see if its the correct order then closes the box and hands it to me and says have a nice day, first of all disgusting, you put your hands all over that money and then she touched my food, second of all, the sandwich wasnt even that great. The bread was so thin that it was like soggy there was so much meat in it (probably shouldnt complain about that but) there was nothing else You could taste there was so much meat you couldnt even taste the bread, sauerkraut, or Thousand island, the swiss cheese was non-existent almost like they cooked it off. All in all not impressed given the reputation that they have.

Had a Reuben, Patty Melt, & their Award Winning Chili. 1st I want to say that the service was great for a dinner. As for the food... the Reuben was average, the Patty Melt tasted like dirt, and Bosch Chili from a can taste 100xs better than theirs. The bathrooms are disgusting & unsanitary. This place is not worth the money even tho the prices are low. The only good thing about this place is your phone will not work because it is a dead zone. So if you want to get away from it all and watch old people eat in a dinner, then this place is for you.

Love the breakfast and the deli sandwiches are top notch! The Rueben is one of the best around. Dont let the dated styling and hole in the wall atmosphere turn you away, you cant find a more hometown diner in central Florida. They have been there for 52+ years because they serve some of the best diner food around. The tea is also very good. I drink unsweet but my Florida native friends say the sweet is on par, too.

Best Pastrami sandwich around, and they have the spicy mustard. Wish they had the real Kosher Dill pickle to go with it and some matzo Ball soup! We have also had their Hamburger and it is really good, even though my wife is not into hamburgers she loves the ones made here. On our next visit I would like them to make me a Pastrami-burger, also known as a "Guido Burger". Heres hoping.

food was OK, not the best. service was not the best. somebody come to get your drink order. they next person gets your food order, they drop off your food and never come back. they want a trip for that. they are out of their minds. the staff ware street clothes so, you dont know if the work there or just visiting. they need to throw out the carpet it was so dirty and nasty.

Horrible food and staff. Long wait for service and long wait for the food. The place was filthy and watched as the person bussing the table dip the cleaning rag in a dirty mop bucket to wash the table for the next cutomer before they sat them down at the table. I got up and walked out right there and then before getting my food. Will not ket my dog eat here.

For breakfast, we come for the Fat Jacks Special (under $3) and for lunch, the Turkey Bacon Club is our go-to. French fries are great, service is great, everyone gets treated like family! They have Boars Head meat as an optiin, which we love. I have been going there since I was a little girl and plan to keep going with my kids!

Everything I have ever had was delicious & large portions & always with a smiling face.The prices are great & ,best hamburger s & Reuben sandwiches + the breaksfast is great & the prices are very reasonable.I have been going there for years,always left happy & full.I cant even eat a whole meal.

I love Fat Jacks. My husband and I went there for lunch every time we had the day off together. When Paul passed away last May, Mark, the owner, allowed me to hold Pauls memorial there. He and his lovely wife catered the whole thing and it was wonderful. They could not have been more gracious.

I have been eating at Fat Jacks for at least 25 years and have never once had a sub par meal. I prefer going for lunch to get my turkey bacon club with no lettuce, but you can not go wrong with any meal. Super friendly servers too. Oh yeah, prices are fantastic too.

Family of 5 for dinner. None of the food was good. When you order a family feast you can only get one salad bar added on for 2.99 if more than one person wants it, its 8.99. The rub that is used is very bitter and the sauces are very peppery. The service was decent.

Literally my favorite place to eat in Lakeland. The staff is always friendly and making jokes. The food is really good home cooked quality and the prices are just right weather you are a starving college student or a busy mom trying to feed her family on a budget.
