I finally had a chance to stop by here for the first time after living here for a few years. Unfortunately, this place has the same work hours that other people do, and theyre closed on the weekends, so trying to eat here when theyre actually open can be quite the endeavor. Though, you can call in advance and pick up your order if you dont have a lot of time during lunch. It goes without saying that the staff here is extremely friendly. The waitress explained the ins-and-outs of the menu to me to try and get a feel of what I may or may not like. Afterwards, I felt a lot more comfortable about what I was ordering and what it would come with. I got a "chipped" (cut very finely) pork sandwich, and maybe it was a mistake to get it cut that way, since there was a very small amount of meat on the sandwich. I honestly couldnt really taste it that much if at all. Next time, Ill have to take that into consideration when ordering. With the nice feel about the place, I dont think Ill have any second thoughts about coming back.

This was my 2nd visit to this place and i was hoping for a good plate of food because I was craving some bbq so got the ribs for there and, the lady said that they where amazing and juicy. However, to my amazement she couldnt have been more wrong. The waiter takes your order and puts it where the guy is putting everything together. Then to make me so much not liking this place already she survive the other guest. Mind you I havent seen her wash her hands. She might have went she got there but where did she know..... nope. An, tea already put on the tables with no one there. Know to my order.... This wasnt great I had more fat than actual meet as you can see by the pictures. Trust me.... it was gross and smelled tasted like burnt charcoal. I guess the photos wont up load.

Been all over the south but this is the best BBQ anywhere. Many factors contribute to my claim. 1)Most BBQ joints dont serve small cubes of pork. The charred outside cut is key to the flavor and you cant get that with an inside cut of pulled pork that most other restaurants provide. 2)The hot sauce is amazing, it leaves your eyes watering just a little but not overpowering. It has just the right mix of hot. The sweet sauce is really great as well, mix the two and you have a unique flavor that cant be beat. 3)Its a home town restaurant and there is a family atmosphere there that wont get it at a chain or big bbq joint. We are in Arkansas now and still searching for BBQ that even comes close.

Im truly crushed to report that this once wonderful place has gone downhill. The waitresses are nice and friendly... The guy who cooks the meat, not so much... The quality of their meat has dropped off... And he prepares it in full view of anybody who cares to look. The last two meals I had there, I had to send my beef back. So much gristle it was inedible. To add insult to injury, when the waitress took my food back, the grillmaster (who I think is the owner) acted irritated both times. I worked plenty of years in food service. Its perfectly fine to be irritated - but NEVER let the customer know. Im just so disappointed that Kinfolks has come to this.

What can I say. Better than most, not as good a some. Unique. The menu offers sliced or chipped pork, I asked for pulled and they had no problem with that. The sandwich was delivered freshly pulled within minutes. It came with their tart mustard based sauce, a little slaw, and pickles already applied. The sandwich looked great and tasted great (I removed the pickles). It was seasoned well, had plenty of smoke flavor, and was moist and tender. What more can I ask for? With all of that said, it was indeed different. I make it a habit to try pulled pork all over the south. This was definitely a unique experience. Ill definitely return.

This is absolutely the best BBQ around. Unlike any other place Ive tried. You can really taste the smoke and time they put into cooking their meat. My favorite is the chipped pork. And if you dont want the mustard based sauce on the meat (which comes standard) just tell them....they wont add it! Although Ive come to love it. The sides are good (brunswick stew, baked beans, and potato salad are good.....fries look like theyve come from a frozen bag though.) Staff is very friendly. Interior doesnt look too good. I always get food to go and am never disappointed!

Dont pay attention to the negative reviews for this place. Kinfolks is everything bbq should be. If your looking for fancy dining they have that back up north where you came from. :) one of my favorite places I eat there often it is a hole in the wall with good southern people opperating it . My favorite on the menu would be the jumbo pork sandwich (make sure you get it sliced) with extra house sauce and house slaw stuff add a little spicy sauce and there you have the definition of bbq. The fries are great and beans are super. The prices are very reasonable.

I really havent found anything special about Kinfolks...Born in NC (BBQ Heaven) and built in TX (BBQ promiseland)...I find it to be subpara BBQ at best. I still havent figured out the draw to it, Marys Kitchen, East River Smoke House and hell even Sonnys is better, so its not like there are not suitable options. Price is ok though and the staff is friendly, but really cant say this is a must place to eat for BBQ. Consistency is their forte, I do eat there every once in awhile but the blandness stays the same.

It is not a chain. Ask for outside cut and they know what you asked for. Do be careful, if you ask for chopped you will get what is chipped to very fine dust like texture good if you do not want any texture or for babies. Their sliced is what others call chopped. Jim and Nicks is their only competer which is 15 miles away for take-out only. Their sides are good and I like their mustard based sauce. Service is great and you get a picture of tea when ordered for you can refill your own drink.

I have found two of the best BBQ spots in the southeast US. My mom brought me Kinfolks in 1991. Great pit, wood smoked meats, Love the style sauce of their mustard / vinager and Secret Spices Both mild and HOT. I drive From neighboring Town Of Destin About once per Week ever since.(20 mile). Similar to boyhood store in Jax Fl, Bonos, a little different. Mom took me there in 1967. She was a smart taster and found the best. Kinfolk always pleased my tastebuds with good BBQ and a friendly smile.

The chipped pork is the best meat. The brisket when I had it was cut lean and a little dry, it wasnt bad but not the Texas BBQ I am used to. I love the chipped pork though. For the sides, hands down the Brunswick Stew! You have to get it. The potato salad amd beans are good too. Service is always great and there are sweet tea pitchers on the table. Great place to eat, only down side is they are not open on weekends.
