SO

So Magnolia

Ive been required to eat here once a year for about three years now, as it is the choice of the senior member of our group, and Ive never found it very appealing. Its unfortunate, as I always prefer local joints (The Seahorse @ Passe-a-Grille, Beverlys @St Pete Beach, Munchs @ St Pete, Skyway Jacks @ St Pete) to chains, and Id like to have a go-to in Dunedin. Every time Ive visited, the wait staff has been snarky. Not amusingly, good-humouredly snappy - just....snarky. Off putting. The food is standard local joint fare - certainly not the best Ive eaten. Cleanliness is spotty at best. Like many small places, the tables are very, very close together but ventilation is non-existent - every time Ive been there its been stuffy and uncomfortable . Taken as a whole what could be a great local joint is just...meh.

As a college student I dont have a lot of extra money for spending and the Covered Bridge is a great little diner. I have only gotten breakfast there so I cant say how the lunch is but this is definitely my favorite local breakfast spot. The pancakes are 2 or 3 dollars and they are literally the size of the plate, so I wouldnt recommend ordering more than two. Every time Ive gone to the covered bridge Ive never been disappointed or left without feeling quite full. The decor is a bit tacky but nice in a small town sort of way and Id rather give money to the community than get breakfast at a chain restaurant.

It was ok. Very inexpensive which is great. The kids loved their breakfast (huge chocolate chip pancake and waffle) my husband got the corn beef and hash but it was more of a breakfast hash (had tomatoes, peppers and onions) I got the French toast and sausage. The bread didnt get evenly coated and was pretty dry. There were a lot of big partys and we did have to wait longer than expected. We are willing to give it another try. The kids certainly loved it so Im giving it 4 stars, with out them Id give it a 3.

Took 5 minutes for anyone to come greet us and give us menus. Turns out one of the girls was an hour late so they were short handed. The food was nothing to write home about. I think the bacon was microwaved, the sausage patty was a pre-cooked jimmy dean patty, the french toast was subpar and the corn beef hash was just potatoes and corn beef chopped in tiny pieces, not much flavor. Not a place that we would visit again.

We went there for lunch with a friend from Philly. As usual, the service was good and the food was hot and tasty. Each of us had something different and we not disappointed in our choices. Yes, it is an inexpensive diner-type restaurant and going there with that in mind, you will be satisfied with what you see and what you get. Try it we think you may like it.

The food here is always amazing. Lunch/dinner servings are large! And you cant beat the value for the price. Best pancakes in Tampa bay - they are huge and they will put anything you want in them!

Put order in and waited OVER an hour to get food. Terrible kitchen. Even after getting out food it was the most mediocre and bland food Ive had in a long time. Will not be returning.

Can be busy, and the service can be slow, but the food is good, people are friendly. Ask about the "Pancake Chef" who makes these incredible works of pancake art.
