This is the first time my girlfriend and I have come here. We are traveling from out of town, so we only know about this places recent past from what weve heard. My take is that the food, service, and decor here are excellent. Hers is that it is good. My girlfriend and I ordered a second order of the cajun shrimp because it was so good. I think the main reason why this place has ONLY a 3.6 star rating is because the ratings from before ownership changed hands are getting combined with after the ownership changed hands. It is apparently much better now. My girlfriend gives the current version of the place 5 stars to compensate for the bad ratings of the previous management. I give it 5 stars because I think it deserves 5 stars on its own.

My wife and I went there with our 2 kids not really expecting much, but it was close to our hotel so we went. We sat outside because the inside is tiny and of course, I wasnt sure bout the atmosphere for our kids. The waitress was not really friendly at all. Perhaps shes used to nasty DC people, but no personality for most of our visit. She did, however, provide decent service. I let her know the food was really good to which even SHE seemed surprised by the compliment. WEIRD...Overall, the dinner was good but I got knocked off my butt when the check was $100!!! Dinner for four and its WAY TOO MUCH. wouldnt go there ever again.

This happened to be the only place that was serving food at 9:30 pm on a Thursday night so we stopped in. Not a single item one of the 4 of us ordered was right. The place was empty and we had to wait over a half hour for our food to come; when we did get it, it was cold and awful tasting. There was absolutley no service. Our waiter sat on a bar stool on his laptop doing who knows what. We had to get up and ask him for essential items, such as our check. The place is a dump and normally that would not bother me except the alcohol was over priced and everything about that place was terrible!

Stopped in the Post Pub on a cold rainy night just to get a quick bite. What a great place. Real neighborhood bar feel. Love these long, dark, narrow places with a bar running down one side and not the opposite. I had the basic burger, which was pretty big, hand formed and grilled rare, just as ordered. Accompanying fries were good, the earthy skin-on type. Lots of beers to choose from, lots of tvs and good 60-70-80 music. The prices were very reasonable for a downtown place. Will definitely go back when I come to town again.

This place absolutely sucked. The lady taking our order was super rude. She would not tell us the price of the beer before we ordered. The prices were not listed on the menu. They turned out to be $7 a piece. Fine, but then she made a fuss about us splitting the tab. She also closed us out without asking if we wanted anything else. She just said "I gotta close out." In addition, my friend asked if the bar sold cigarettes, and she responded "Ive only got a few left and they are expensive," and simply walked away.

Looked for a dive bar the first night we were in town not too far from where we stayed. We loved this joint. Great burgers, good beer on tap, only bad/negative was the bartenders choice of tunes. Husband hated, I tolerated and/or didnt mind. Football was on many of their TVs and the staff was more than willing to change screens to the patrons that wanted the college football games on... Hope to go back again later this week during our stay, but if not our first impression rocked! Thanks!

Oh, the Post Pub. Ill give you two stars for history. Any pub thats been in downtown DC for decades deserves a star. Many Washington Post stories were written in their booths. Other than that, its not much. Its a total dive (which some people love) and the food is just awful. I ordered a burger and it tasted like nothing....literally....and the onion rings were burnt. If you want a cultural experience, come here, but if you want a quality DC food experience, go elsewhere.

Bar Frau war super unfreundlich. Bier gibt es nur in einer Größe und teuer. Als wir nach zigarreten fragten, sagte sie, sie hätte nur noch ein paar und diese seien teuer. Dann ging sie einfach weg. Tschühüss!

Id like to start by saying that I have never bothered to post a bad review about a place- ever. I feel compelled to in this case because I can quite honestly that I have never ever had food as bad as this in my whole life. not suitable for human consumption. worse than any place in the developed or developing world. Avoid like the plague!!!! You have been warned.

Very disappointed. Very few people in the pub when I arrived. I sat down and waited 5 mins before finally asking g for a menu (wasnt sure they knew I was there). I asked if they were still serving dinner (7pm). She said yes and the waitress would be right there. After 20 more minutes and eye contact twice, while holding the menu .. I left.

The place seemed very popular on a weekday evening. We had a friendly waitress and appreciated the cozy pub vibe. But the food was not good. The onion rings were supposed to be "the best in DC" but i had to drench them in ketchup along with the mediocre burger. We finally left after a cockroach fell onto our table from the lamp.

Adequate Reuben sandwich served with potato chips and a pickle. Bar staff is stretched but Sara is hustling as fast as she can on a Saturday evening. 7 televisions for watching a variety of sporting events. The place is oozing character. Mostly a 30-something crowd...But it ranges widely.

Nice historic pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Menu its good and I can speak from experience in saying "the dip" burger is awesomeness in a bun, hands down. The draft beer taps taste clean and the whiskey is straight. I will be stopping here again on my next trip to DC.

Stopped by on a whim bc we got lost and couldnt find the restaurant we were looking for-- was pleasantly surprised; No frills No nonsense, GREAT food. We had the bison burger and the "pub" burger, the onion rings were crispy and tasted "homemade". Full liquor bar with cheap cocktails.

This kind of bar is hard to find in DC. While others posture, the Post Pub remains the sort of down-to-earth, friendly establishment that makes your wish you were a regular even if youre just passing through. Cold beer, good food, great service. Dont miss the onion rings.

Food was awesome! Great, relaxed pub - attentive, friendly service. Everything we ate was good, especially the "best in DC" onion rings. Ended up ordering more food to go for our kids who were back at the hotel. Perfect for what we were looking for after a long day in DC

Great prices and very cool spot, but rude staff whose poor service made the stop unpleasant. Wanted to stop by for a quick drink before a dinner meeting, but were not served for a while and then the staff were upset with the results of their own poor service.
