Had the worse experience at the Purple Parrot ever! This was a frequent stomping ground to eat good food and to drink adult beverages for the last five years. Well, this has ended as of 7/14/15. There was eleven of us and the place was steady but not outrageous with patrons. The person who greeted us I thought was our waitress and asked if she was going to wait on us. She said no, but the waiter that was going to wait on us was very good. Well, it took too long to greet us and way too long to get the first round of drinks (all were special of the day beers). The soups came out with the meals except two soups that didnt show up and when they did, there was no crab in the crab soup. Half of us received our meals while the other half watched us eat. We asked for a third round of the beer on the special three different times, which never showed up. I even made a comment to the waiter "I tip very well" and I do, usually 20 to 30%. This did not help. Finally the rest of the food came out. One in the group asked to see a manager. Jill showed up and she did not look like the manager and was asked if she was the manger. We received the usual sorry b.s. and stated the third round of beer would be taken off our bill. Half of the group at the same time said "we didnt get any beer". The manager said ok, let us give you a free dessert. We said no thank you and asked for the bill. The waiter comes out and gives us two pieces of cake for eleven people...really. We left it. The waiter new or not shouldve asked for help and bartenders should have been on top of waiters requests for drinks. The manager should have taken off all the meals that came out 15 minutes later than the first round of meals instead of trying to buy us off with cake.

Ill start with a summary and a paradigm: if youre going to be expensive, you cant have poorer service than a truck stop. While the 8.00 half filled room temperature crock of crab soup was disappointing, it didnt hold a candle (a candle would have been useful to convert our drink ice into something to drink) to the quality of service we received. My concern of the cold overpriced soup was met with "ok Ill be back". Nope. I am embarrassed I didnt make a scene when the tab came, but I was genuinely concerned about how long it would take to see a manager vs the value of my own time in this Establishment. The only reason they shall get two stars from me is that the food was prepared by presumably the only people in that restaurant with actual skill. Food was satisfactory. Bottom line: this isnt the first night this restaurant has ever been busy although they sure know how to act like it. My family will never be back, and will discourage others in our RV club from attending. If your waiter looks like the actor from Grandmas Boy (Allen Covert), just leave now; youre not going to be happy. This evening of disappointment was on 7/23/2015 @ 7:22p

Where to start. First impression, I was pleased when I walked in, nice atmosphere, fun and upbeat music, good looking staff lol. But this thought quickly changed after about 20mins into it. We noticed the cooks in the back were hairy with no shirts.. Kinda gross and unsanitary in my opinion, but its not the worst thing that happened. We all ordered small things, shouldnt have taken more than 10-15mins. I was brought out my nachos and o-rings in prompt timing. As we all picked at them for about 20mins (a total of waiting about 35-40mins at this point) were wondering what could possibly be taking so long for a cup of soup and a salad. When we asked the waiter, his stupidity literally gave me a headache when he responded with "what food". Wrong answer. We got the food and immediately asked for boxes and the check. Upon delivering the bill, he walks past us and just looked so lost. I might be being harsh, but I never had an experience like this at any restaurant ever in my life. Seems like a fun place to just drink and dance, maybe. But I definitely wont be going back to find out.

Ive been here numerous times but tonight was absolutely the WORST service Ive ever received here. I ordered a burger, and then my male server (with lots of tattoos and wagon wheels in his ears) turned and took the order of 2 customers who came in about 5 minutes after me. I got an iced tea, which he brought out relatively quickly (lower slower delaware). Some other customers arrived about 10 minutes later. So about 20 minutes after Id arrived and placed my order, he brings a burger out and give it to the customer who had arrived 5 minutes after I had. Then, another few minutes went by and he brings more burgers out, for the table behind me.... I brewed for another 15 minutes, and after 45 minutes, asked the bartender for my bill bc I needed to leave. She ended up comping me on the tea, so I might go back again, but if I ever see that server again, Im leaving. He treated me the worst, but as I was leaving I noticed several empty glasses pushed out to the tables edge, so obviously hes just a terrible server, not singling one out over another, I think?!

Afternoon Beer Garten, sans Beer! I usually enjoy the Purple Parrot and this trip to the shore I was excited to learn that the Beer Garten, which Ive never done before, is dog friendly. Went this afternoon, driving from Bethany with our pup, walked to the back of the Garten where a few others were eating and drinking. Mostly empty, but hey, its a Wednesday afternoon. Noticed only one server slowly tending to a table next to ours as they were getting their check. The server, a young man with a beard, never once made eye contact or spoke with us. After 8-9 minutes, I chased him down and politely asked if we should order drinks to start from him or the bar. He replied, "um, you can get drinks at the bar". I walked up to the bar as a group of 6 arrived. No bartender to be found. I told the group of our experience thus far as we all stood waiting and after a couple more minutes I proclaimed " I give up!". They said "Were not sticking a around either". The 8 of us walked out.

The waitress did good, though seemed to have too much to handle. The prices were outrageous, especially for what we ended up getting. Me and another person ordered the $17 fish and chips after asking the waitress how many strips of fish it came with, and were told 4. It arrived at the table with 2, and when we asked, were told that the person she asked didmt know the portion was cut in half. She (the waitress) then told us that there had been a lot of complaints and that the management basically said "oh well, too bad" when customers concerns were brought to their attention by the service personnel. Worst fish and chips ive ever had, and most expensive. I would steer clear and find a place that cares about the customers who keep their business going.

Worst meal we have ever had! There were 9 of us and only one of us was served a meal that was the least bit tolerable - how can you screw up a tuna fish sandwich! Greazzzey wraps, salad with week old lettuce and other ingredients. But the absolute worse was the Sunday special - three of us had it - the prime rib; and since we forgot to bring our chain saws with us, we were unable to cut up the pieces of meat. We felt it would have been futile for us to complain at the restaurant because they would have had virtually every meal going back to the kitchen and we doubted that they would bring out anything better. Service just about as bad as the meals. Cute place and the drinks were OK - but will never return for the "cuteness/drinks OK factor".
