I fell in love with this place during my days studying at the Wilmington University New Castle campus which is a few blocks down the road. Theres a certain charm about it that I love, but I can understand why a lot of people wouldnt; tastes differ. Food has always been delicious. The baked goods I especially love, and theyre a bargain. You get a HUGE slice of cake if you order the cake. As other reviewers have pointed out, the menu is very big. I think this can be a turn off to a lot of people who prefer a narrow, more specialized menu. I havent been back into the kitchen but I suspect they use a lot of frozen and pre-packaged foods. If thats not your thing and you would prefer fresh food, best move on somewhere else. For me, I like a large menu and fast service. There seems to be a lot of turnover with the waitstaff; Ive been in there many times at and see a lot of different waiters and waitresses. That could also be due to the 24x7 operating hours. Ive had only one really bad experience with the waitstaff over the course of about 30 visits, when a new waitress got my order wrong. I think some of the negative reviews here may have been unlucky that their only visit turned out the same way. Overall, I would say that this is a great DINER. And you need to make that distinction. It is not fine dining, it is decent dining. Like TGI Fridays, or Applebees, or Waffle House. You need to know what youre really in the market for.

Horrible customer service by way of phone and in person. I called in and spoke with Yahdi to place an order and there are specific things that come with each meal you order yet shes rushing me through my order never asking about the sides that come with the meals. Then I said wait you didnt ask about my sides nor offer to tell all that comes with it she then states you didnt ask for it so my next reply basically what youre saying is if you were to bring me a plate of food and I dont ask for silverware you dont bring them out for me to eat with. Its called Common Sense, find some. I will never visit this restaurant again, customer service goes a long way for a business and this is how you get customers. Your business will surely suffer for your ignorance and poor customer service be it by phone or in person. unfortunately you cannot opt out of selecting any stars surely they would not have gotten even a half of 1

This diner is the nearest one to home but for some reason, it never dawned on me to give this place a try for years and years, until one Christmas morning when everywhere else was closed. The thing about diners in Delaware though is of the few Ive tried, none of them were that great when compared to Jersey diners where I used to live. This one isnt up to snuff either. The jukeboxes werent working, for one thing. More importantly, the food seemed a bit lacking, especially in portion sizes. The eggs benedict did taste somewhat better than the ones at other Delaware diners though. And finally, our server, while very polite and cheerful, wasnt the most attentive and got a few details wrong. Golden Dove is on the southbound side of US-13. As you approach, slow down because the parking lot isnt very big and the entrance is easy to miss.

I dont know how anyone eats here. My boyfriend went to pick up an order one night and all of our food was old, dried out, and tasted awful. Not only that, but Ive heard that this place has failed health inspections numerous times. Not surprising considering our food shouldve probably not even been on the shelves anymore. On top of this, all the employees seemed scattered and my bf said he didnt get acknowledged for a good 15 minutes. There was also an unruly customer who came in at roughly the same time who was most likely under some form of intoxication, and one of the employees got into a heated fight with said customer. My bf rushed home having a panic attack because he thought there was about to be a shoot out. Dont go here - theres a good chance youll get serious food poisoning... assuming you ever get served.

My boardgames group meets there every two weeks, and they accommodate us very nicely. The food is good, especially the breakfasts, and the wait staff are friendly and meet our needs. The negative aspects reported by others have been cleaned up, problem areas addressed, wait staff are usually attentive (sometimes our lady has put in a 14-hour day by the time we get there). If you have special needs, they are happy to deal with it. We move tables and chairs around and many of us change tables frequently, but they still find us. I have never seen or heard a cross word in the many, many months we have been going there.

I vowed to never go back after my last visit. My friends and I used to go here at least once a week if not more. After ordering a seafood dish, I sent it back due to the seafood not tasting fresh. I was greeted by the manager on duty saying, "were not taking this off the bill because the chef said there was more seafood than this." I explained to her that I only took one or two bites before sending it back and she refused to take it off the bill. After being treated like that after being a faithful customer for years, I knew I didnt need to return to this establishment.

Wow! A new "must stop" between NYC and DC. If you are looking for great food at a great price, you cant go wrong. Huge selection on the menu, including genuine local seafood, such as crab, scallops, and shrimp. Excellent kids menu at just $1.99, including drink and dessert. Wine adequate and reasonably priced. You can go to s fancy restaurant and pay twice the price for half the quantity, but you are looking for a solid nutritious meal on a budget, this is your place.

The only reason Im goving 2 stars is because the waitress did her job well, and the food portions were large. Both the interior and exterior need to be remodeled. The place looks like its falling apart. The food was very underseasoned, and the bread roll that came with my meal was undercooked. I couldnt eat it because it was too doughey. And the "large" orange juice looked like it should have come with a kids meal. We have no intention to go back.

Started off fine. Waitress was kind and funny. Then I saw the menu. There is multiple pages. The menu is the size of a small book. I ordered a seafood platter special they had. It comes out and I try the lobster tail. It is so rubbery that it bounces. Its not supposed to do that. The scallops tasted like I was eating an eraser. Never felt so disgusted with food in my life. This place is a candidate for kitchen nightmares

This diner was a great find for us. We were in the area and randomly chose this place for lunch. Everything we ate was very good, had well sized portions, and was affordably priced. The crab balls awesomely exceeded our expectations by far. To think, I probably drove past this place numerous times over the years without noticing it. Id recommend this place to everyone.
