INSTRUCTIONS *Pack a cooler, plates, napkins, and utensils *Stop into The Cooking Company and order. I suggest getting the buttermilk ranch potato salad and grilled vegetables and fresh mozzarella sandwich. This is large enough for two hungry people to enjoy. *While you wait for your sandwich, go shopping. They have ginger syrup and other goodies. Get some blueberry pomegranate juice. If youre impatient, I dont know, use the bathroom or reapply your sunblock. They aint quick, but Ive seen slower service. *Pay *Now, go a few miles down the road and have a picnic at Devils Hopyard. It doesnt get much better than sitting next to a roaring river while munching on a sandwich of toasted ciabatta, sweet grilled yellow bell peppers and eggplant, and tangy basil dressing. You wont regret this.

Stop at Killingworth location occasionally if I need something to go. Town doenst have a lot there. Food is fresh but sometimes gets repetitive. There is only one register to pay at so I usually call in to avoid waiting in line for 5-10 minutes at lunch. The owner is rude and my friends agree. We called once for catering and heard back 2 days later. It was too late and we ordered from Cloud Nine in Saybrook instead for our event. The counterhelp some times pass you by. Carl is quick to help as are Maggie Hanna and the woman with curly hair. Kids love the desserts case and those are always delicious. Southwestern salad is my favorite.

A terrific stop to pick up a prepared gourmet lunch or dinner at moderate prices. Everything that they make is innovative and fresh and prepared daily. Many soups and entrees can be found in their refrigerated food case and a fresh salad bar makes it convenient when you dont have time to cook. Try the seasonally prepared fruits, vegetables, and freshly baked pies, cookies, and breads. There is something here for every palate.

There are so many outstanding pre-made dishes here that myself and most everybody else, takes forever to choose what to eat. I always find myself buying more than I want or need because there are so many things that are so tasty.

Woah. If you need a chefs knife or most other type of knife, this is the place to go. They also have all kinds of other cooking gadgets and cool stuff.
