I have been here before and had a wonderful experience with Maya as our waitress. However, I came here on Saturday night and it was the TOTAL OPPOSITE experience and it was not nearly as busy. We ordered appetizers right away. After about 30 minutes, we checked on the status of our appetizer. Come to find out, the waitress NEVER put the order in. At that point we decided to order the entrees also since we didnt know how long that would be until we got those. Two people in the group ordered the same wrap. When we received the wraps, the orders were totally backward. One person in the group ordered the wrap without tomatoes, however theirs came with tomatoes. Upon mentioning it to the waitress, she apologized but never offered to bring a replacement dish. After quite some time, she came back and said that would be taken off of our bill after saying we didnt want that item. The waitress then BLATANTLY ignored us after that. She did not come over to check on us or bring us any other items we asked for including water. We then noticed that she was standing near the bar area eating a salad!! So she was able to have her dinner while IGNORING her customers, just AWFUL!! She never offered to make the situation better or get us anything else. Yes, she messed up but at least own up to it and try and fix the situation. One person in our group then went up to the owner to try and get our bill and let him know of our experience. His response was less than desirable and didnt seem to care at all. As we were getting ready to pay, he came over to our table. He kept apologizing and said there was a large party in their outside area that as slowing service and apparently our waitress was also handling that party. Clearly they did not have enough staff, or qualified staff for that matter to be handling the restaurant. Also, the owner seemed intoxicated and just kept apologizing but never offered to do anything else for us. I have never had a more awful experience at a restaurant. The waitress clearly isnt meant to work in the restaurant business and puts her needs before her customers. And the owner didnt really care to hear about our experience. Oh well. I can certainly say I will NEVER be back. Too bad.

Sparrows is not for everyone. If you want the latest "in" place, look elsewhere. If you want fancy surroundings, look elsewhere. If you want to experience the longest running open mic in CT, drop in on Thursday nights. If you want great food, friendly bartenders and waitstaff, reasonable prices and a local flavor in eclectic surroundings, you may have just found a hidden gem in the rough. Sparrows may not be for everyone but if you are like me, you will appreciate this unique bar and what it has to offer.

Not much atmosphere but the food is good bar fare and the people are friendly. Thursday nights are open mike night for local musical talent. The walk-on talent is unpredictable but the house band goes on at 11 and they rock. Beer garden out back during the summer is pleasant.

My nachos were cold and almost inedible. The cheese was not even melted. I heard the same complaint from someone else recently who ordered the same thing. The time before that, the chicken quesadilla I usually order was not the same, it was thin and skimpy.

Great local joint. Decent tap selection, terrific food -- gotta try the blue cheese dip with garlic bread! -- and friendly staff. Youll walk out feeling better than when you walked in!

Really tasty food is to be had pretty much whatever is ordered; the cj salad w ahi tuna is nice to the waistline. Drinks are made nicely. The live music is fun and authentic.

For local pub grub this is a great option. We have yet to get something for lunch or an early dinner we didnt like. Sandwiches, salads, French onion soup are all great.
