While our experience started out great, it ended horribly. I was with a large wedding party of around 40 people. They accommodated us as quickly as possible and were super friendly about seating us all as close together as possible in the back room. Considering they dont take reservations, we were grateful for their service to seat us all together. However, the waiter had no support from the restaurant and things quickly became a hot mess. Several people didnt receive their food even though they were first to order. We were told their ticket was lost, even though we werent allowed to do separate checks (we asked if we could have checks distributed table by table and were told no), so Im not sure how their ticket was lost when there was only one ticket total. We didnt see a manager come around to ask how things were or to see where she could help - she only came out at the very end with the bill. Two large tables had their food on one bill. It was impossible to know who paid for what and to know what still needed to be paid for - all they could tell us was the total bill amount that is owed to them. The manager was very rude to our group and made it clear she didnt care about assisting us with our questions, she just wanted the bill paid for. We explained that we believed the group who didnt receive their food right away had the order on our bill (they were given a separate one after the ticket was "lost") and the manager denied that was the case - even though several of us were very sure that was the case. It was a total mess of a experience. The poor waiter was not able to get our drinks out quicker than 20 minutes of a wait time and had zero assistance. This lead to people cancelling drink orders with him to order them at the bar. These drinks were never taken off our bill, even though they were not received.

I ordered a burger with fries on the patio outside. The fries were cold. I asked the waitress to bring hot fries. She refused, saying, "I cannot take the plate back into the kitchen after it has been served." All she had to do was BRING a side plate with fries to the table. I asked to speak to the manager. He came out with an arrogant demeanor and extremely rude. He refused to give me hot fries and blamed me for the fries being cold...as though I did not eat them fast enough outside and they became cold due to my delay in consuming them. I was shocked that a manager would make a federal case out of inexpensive fries. Due to the attitude of the waitress and manager, I did not leave a tip. The waitress had the nerve to verbally accost me due to the fact that I did not leave her a tip. Tip translates into, "To insure proper service." Her rude conduct did not warrant a tip. Upon leaving the restaurant, I went back ten minutes later to retrieve my skis, and the waitress, who was on the patio, verbally accosted me again, telling me not to return to the restaurant again. I am curious as to whether the so-called manager was indeed the manager. I was not asking for caviar, but instead French Fries aka poormans food. If that was the manager, he is seriously twisted. Also, the waitress was busy chatting up every single guy under 35 in the hopes of nailing a potential sucker with a very fat wallet...a waitress with a pipedream. Vail is a high class ski destination, but the two aforementioned Red Lion employees are low class with resentment written all over their faces. I would not step foot in this overrated establishment again if you paid me.

Some of our friends used to go to the Red Lion often while in Vail, we have decided to make a stop for dinner....Beware of their food service - I am not sure where it is appropriate for a server to touch your food with their hands right in front of you, but it is definitely an acceptable practice at this restaurant. Servers are rude, because they dont care whether they will loose a customer, or gain one. Most of the menu items they did not have for order. Their math sucks! They had to redo our bill 3!!! times and still did not get it right. The manager was absolutely rude, to top of the fact that he was extremely high and didnt care for anything! Basically, if you want to have a beer and a good dinner, go somewhere else!

The food tasted like I could get it at any other restaurant... Also, they werent able to give me a smaller portion of food since I did not want to waste my money as I wasnt very hungry and I would have had to throw the food away since it would get bad by the time I got back to my house. Every other restaurant I have gone to has been able to accommodate but all this restaurant cares about is $$. The waitress we had wasnt very friendly or lively. Too expensive for what you get, will not be coming back.

Went there Tuesday and Wednesday night. Had a freaking blast! Tuesday night was Bruce Crichton. He was awesome! Then Wednesday saw Phil Long and that was the most fun Ive had in a long time. the BBQ brisquet plate was great! It took some time on both nights for the wait staff to realize I was sitting there though. It would be really nice if some of the tables could be moved to make the dance floor bigger. Highly recommend for the live music and dinner!

While I have always had a good meal here, the service I received on April 7 was deplorable. I arrived at 6:30pm. The place was practically empty. It took me nearly 15 minutes to get a waiter (I had to go to the bar and ask). When I was done eating, it took me another 10 minutes to get Jake H. to get me the bill. I would understand if the place was busy, but it wasnt.

My family & I recently visited here for late lunch as it was one of the few options open, being off season. Surprising, it was really good for bar restaurant food. Service was good too. Even the couple leaving as we arrived enjoyed it. As there has not been any recent reviews & many of the previous ones were negative, wanted to make sure to give them done props.

Ive gone to CO on vacation for the last three years...every year we hit the Red Lion at least 2x for dinner, and even more for apres drinks. Packed, fun, good food, live music, definately a highlight every year, and really reasonably priced too, compared to some of the mountain food. Id recommend giving it a go if at all possible.

Service was terrible as well as the food! Bar manager cares more about his ego than the actual customers. The only thing that was okay was the live music but you can find that in any other bar in Vail - wont be going back. Also the glass my beer was poured in was extremely dirty no wonder they keep the lights so dim. #barrescue

First beer ordered was a short-pour. Told the waitress about the issue for the second round to have the bartender pour the drink to the top. When the server returned she deliberately spilled beer on my shoes. I told her she spilled beer on my shoes and she said "so what?". Live music was great too bad service is dishonest.
