Agaveros has decent food, decent decor, and good service. Nothing really stands out and quality of the food varies from dish to dish and on the day. Ive found the fajitas and tacos the most pleasant, but the some of the other dishes were just fair. It also depends who is cooking. There are some nights where the food has been fantastic and other nights where it is just okay. The decor is nothing really exciting, but it isnt bad either. The staff is typically attentive, which I like. They arent super friendly, but they treat me well.

Went for lunch, arrived at 2pm to take advantage of the magical hour from 2-3 when lunch specials and happy hour coincide. After being seated the first waitress told us it was happy hour then ran off before i could open my mouth to ask what the specials were. Then our real waitress came by and told us there was no happy hour that day despite advertisements to the contrary. We attributed this to being the only customers in the entire place. The food was good after this however I wasnt impressed really. Its good generic mexican.

Hated it. Nothing about the new owership is good. The food was horrible and made one of my friends ill, the menu is too large to be even remotely manageable. The multitude of choices accents the low quality food being served. The bluberry margarita was bland and boring. Service was deplorable a large table of 7 people were waiting numerous times for drinks, food and bill service. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Very reminiscent of establishments seen on Kitchen Nightmares. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!!

Went there with the family tonight for the first time, will be back. We had standard Mexican dishes (what youd probably categorize as Tex-Mex, I guess), all good. Portions were large, service was very attentive without being annoying, decor was typical for a Mexican restaurant. The menu is pretty extensive, as another reviewer noted, but just order a combination plate if its too overwhelming. And the prices were reasonable. Check it out. (2-16-2013)

Had lunch there.Food was bad.I ordered a chalupa.Dont know what they brought me.ended up a dry soggy taco salad..Service was awful. The place was empty and food still took forever. The server never came back and asked how my meal was.He probably already knew it sucked.Had to go hunt him down for a box and a drink refill.I wont go back there.there is plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area that want your service.

Tried a new Mexican place and I will not be returning here. The food was very bad, this is probably the first time I didnt want to finish a meal. The flavor/sauce on the steak fajitas is unlike any Ive had at any other restaurant, it was not meant for fajitas. Wont be coming back here, there are plenty of other choices that arent gross.

Amazing food, we love this place. We have yet to have a bad experience here. We get the Carne Asada and Carnitas de Res most often but everything else we have tried is great too. Their salsa at the table is pretty good, not hot at all though. If we had to pick a complaint, the queso could be thicker, maybe with a chorizo option :)

This is our favorite local Mexican restaurant. So much so, that we dont bother going anywhere else. I dont think we have ever had a bad meal here, all the food is delicious. Ive tried everything on the menu and never found anything that wasnt good. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is inviting and relaxing.

I take my family there frequently. Family run. The few times I have had issues with my order, they quickly resolved it and offered excellent customer service. The meals are substantial, very reasonably priced and offer large selection. I highly recommend it! -Michael Z 03-19-2010

Excellent food with some healthier options! This is not your typical Mexican fare (though that is also available). Their veggie burritos are insanely good! If you are going the other way, try the pollo con crema! Definitely not good for you, but WOW!

I ordered 2 different flavors of margaritas and asked for them to be on the rocks. The server came back and asked again what flavors I wanted and then she came back with frozen margaritas and was charged extra because they were frozen.

My family of six loves Agaveros. The classic margaherita over rocks without salt is a must. Some of us split the Molcajete which is always delicious! Service is so friendly and its great to support a local, non chain restaurant.

Not good, particularly in light of a number of tastier options in close proximity. I tried them a year ago, thought Id try them again and will not be back. Friendly staff and decent atmosphere... Too bad the food isnt good.

Sometimes its great, sometimes not good. good carnitas but very greasy tacos. they need to salt the chips after they come out of the fryer. salsa could be fresher. good deserts and very friendly staff.

Great Mexican food and an authentic dining experience. Decor feels like many restaurants back home in San Diego. The staff is very friendly and the house margarita is stellar.

Pretty average overall. Food and service are both decent. Nothing spectacular and certainly nothing bad. 3 stars feels low, but 4 just isnt warranted.
