OK Mexican food (not "authentic"). Very expensive, as a local not really worth going to as spending just a little more on gas I can get to all kinds of better food joints at a lower cost. Even as expensive as it is, we went there a few times a year but it keeps getting costlier and costlier so our visits are much less often. Cheaper to go to the good German food joint down the street or take the extra time to go elsewhere. Catering to destination folks and tourists must be where the money is. Too bad though, breakfast is good but just to expensive to consider very often at all. We need a good breakfast joint in the Canyon. Sticking with no drinks and no "extras" (everything is extra) keeps the cost down. I would eat there once or twice a week if it were more economical.

Didnt feel like cooking tonight and usually go to Nederland but decided to give this place a try. So expensive for basically reheated food. Got a burger for my son (11 dollars) basically tasted like premade patty from store, nothing special. Kids menu is not really suited towards a kid, and expensive too. Fajita tasted also like a mix and onions and peppers not sautéed long enough. Fajita was shared by two of us. Price tag for whole meal (with two small kids at table) 70 dollars folks. This place was a rip off, and I hate wasting money these days!!! I think the good reviews must come solely from friends/locals (even though i am a local) and people who drink alcohol. Waitress was friendly and did a decent job.

I have been driving by this place for years and always wanted to try it out. I did that for the first and last time today. I am shocked this has a 4 star average. I am giving one star for the decent patio seating and one for the generous Comp after an extremely long wait for food that ended with 2 of 3 people at our table getting the incorrect order. I asked two different people two times each for water before getting some. It was clear that every table around us was having the same type of issues. Not sure if there was a manger but this place is in need of a good one. The food averages $22 a plate for Mexican food that should be about half that price. Pinto beans that went from a can to the plate.

We had a wonderful dinner Friday evening. I had the trout and my friend had the chile rellenos. Both were excellent with large portions. Pleasant knotty pine dining room. Very nice service from our waitress. I was already very full but I am a flan fan so I had flan for dessert. Good but not great. Also had a dollop of whipped cream on top, not necessary for great flan. Prices are higher than what you would pay in Denver but youre on top of the mountains! The daylight drive up there was very scenic. Coming back down at night was a little tricky; good road but lots of curves and no city street lights. Well definitely go back in the Summer but be sure to make reservations.

Had family in town and decided to try this place being just 5 minutes up the canyon. One waitress running the entire place, cold and uncaring. No complimentary chips/salsa. Food was quite bland, finally tracked down the waitress to get some hot sauce. Had to track her down again to get boxes for leftovers and never got a check. This was the lowest tip Ive ever given. $20 per person. Summary: Mediocre food, terrible service, fairly expensive. Not going back...

I stopped by for breakfast this morning and was pleasantly surprised. The coffee is very good and I think that alone is worth 5 stars... The waitress (Sue) was busy but friendly and attentive. Had a cheese omelette with sausage inside and hash browns and toast on the side. The portion was large and everything was cooked perfectly. We live in Arvada and its only a 22 mile drive so my wife and I will be regular customers!

Its true -- you wont find authentic Mexican food here. But the Americanized version of it you find at the Wondervu Cafe is still fantastic. They have great homemade guacamole, and everything is nice and fresh. The best part is the location, a quick drive outside of town. In the summer, plan on sitting on their large patio. Its an easy way to get into the mountains without needing to rough it.

Prices are inflated, portions are smaller, no complimentary chips & salsa, the chicken was dry,and its missing that latino flair that every other mexican restaurant has. That said, I enjoyed it. Friendly staff and delicious burrito! As a local, I understand its catered to tourists. Oh well, give us your money tourists!

We waited 5-10 minutes to be greated & seated. Food was not very good, totally over priced & you have to pay for chips & salsa! What Mexican restaurant charges for chips & salsa? 2 people & our bill was almost $50! Never again will I was my time here!

The food was MEDIOCRE at best the soda was so watered down Im not sure how they could pass it as soda. The prices for this place is outrageous I paid almost 10 dollars for a egg burrito with ONLY EGG save your money and go somewhere else.

I, like most that live around the Wondervu, have been going here for years. It has great food with some amazing service. You go for the food, and have a real conversation with the waitresses because they actually care.

Friendly service. Blood orange margaritas are fantastic! Its not your customary Mexican food. But its pretty good. A little pricey. But hey youre in the mountains comma so I considered it a convenience fee.

Great place for a stop. Sit out on the patio at night and enjoy the stars. Great food. Great local service. On top of their wide variety of Good Foods they also sell a collection of chocolates

I also am shocked at the good reviews. We went there today and had mediocre service but for Mexican food that is 20+ per plate. I can get someone food and quality in Denver for a lot less.

A direct quote from the waitress when I ordered a fried jalapeño. "Jalapeños are not allowed to touch our grill." WTF??? REALLY? Extremely expensive for so so food. Keep on driving I say

Always fresh guacamole! Dinner salad has baby greens, sprouts, tomatoes... Plus it is delicious. Small Nachos is the best deal on the menu!

Understaffed and mediocre service. The Mexican food is way overpriced and not that great. Probably will pass next time.
