First time coming here and my first impression was...where is it? There was no legit sign for the restaurant which made me wonder...do you even want customers? Just a little mediocre sign on the sidewalk is how we were able to identify the place. Walked in and my thought was, what a little hole in the wall. The space needed some serious tlc. For being a pastry spot the case was nearly empty. Old, dirty looking floors. Unclean, crumb-covered table. Uncomfortable booths. Lady working there seemed lifeless. I got the crimini panini and it honestly was sickening by the time I got to the end. The cashew cheese was bouncy and the gluten free bread was soggy. Also, the chai tea was almost chalky in texture...hard to down. Not to mention, at the end of my meal I had to go back to the counter and wait in the long line to remind the lady about my chai since I had never recieved it. The whole meal left me feeling way too greasy, and hours later I still have a bad taste in my mouth. For being one of the few vegan places in denver, its a shame this place didnt meet my expectations...and trust me, I really wanted to like this place. I tried. My boyfriend had the same thoughts as myself. Beet box doesnt even compare with city o or watercourse. I was so surprised this place was so popular and got good ratings. Im never the type to leave bad ratings but I really do feel this place is overrated.

I heard some good things about this place but Im not treated fairly when I used to go in with a certain someone. For example I remember me and that certain someone ordered the same sandwich and I asked her if I can take a picture of her sandwich and she was weirded out saying "you bought the same as me why not take a picture of yours?" I said "because yours look better" which... it did, mine was so thin while hers was filling (you could tell by the gap between the breads) ALSO the outer crust of my bread was FREAKN HARD...SO HARD it hurted and cut my gums. When I asked that person I was with if her crust is hard she looked at me like I asked yet ANOTHER stupid question and she said with an annoyed look on her face "NO its fine!" I couldnt understand why everybody say good things about this place and they say their sandwiches are filling and they do not experience the hard crust I experience and so i tried them again and they STILL did my sandwich skimpy and hard, hard, crust so I vowed to never step foot in their cafe ever again. O and the cashier and the Lady that tended me BOTH TIMES (despite my smile and kindness tone in my voice) looked like they had an attitude, couldnt even look at me. But I seen them smile and be nice with others. Hmmmm not good. Tells me its a likelihood they judge people by the way they look which is discrimatory. Nope NOT good.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We used to love this place, food wise they offer a delicious vegan options and a breath of fresh air from the two veg friendly conglomerates here in Denver. Today we were treated so rudely they have lost two long time customers. We ordered two sandwiches at 11:59am, waited for a half hour while two people who ordered after us got their food, including one couple who ordered a meal identical to ours. After speaking to the employee at the cash register, we were told 1) the cook was new 2) there were problems with the grill. Mind you we have already been waiting for a half hour. I was offered a refund (I paid with cash) and was told the refund was complete. So the employee refunded the purchase on a card that never existed? She didnt bother to even look to see if it was a cash or card transaction. At this point in time, the service was so low and the disrespect was so high, we dont plan on coming back again. A $12 refund is not worth my half hour of wasted time. We will not be back, and while I do not entirely discourage other patrons from visiting this establishment, I just hope other people are not treated this way and leave with zero resolve.

I came here after seeing a very appetizing picture of a breakfast sandwich. I ordered a spinach and mushroom crossaint as well as the breakfast sandwich. The cashier didnt seem very happy to be there, not that I care as long as my food is good. However I cannot say much of anything good about the food. The crossaint was warm but hard shelled and the center veggies lacked in presence except for their coldness. The sandwich had almost unnoticeable amounts of veggies only to be even further overwhelmed by the big slice of under cooked tempeh. Its texture was as of it was taken out of the package, thrown on a grill for a few seconds and then the sandwich. All I can speak on is what I ordered. There may be other tasty item more well prepared however I get the feeling that because they are vegan people will just come. Surely thats not the case and there are underlying factors. It upsets me that I feel the need to leave a negative review towards a company that is suppose to be here to support a cause I believe in.

Love, love, love!!! I havent had a donut in at least ten years. First, because the gluten-free variety are practically non-existent, and if they do exist, theyre not vegan. Beet Box did not disappoint. Admittedly, I went a little crazy and ordered 4 donuts and one carrot cake. Everything was amazing!!! Including the Chickpea of the Sea sandwich. Highly recommend this place - a must if visiting Denver. Im editing my review from nearly a year ago (above) after another epic fail today. It must have been a fluke the first time I got gluten-free donuts and the three or four subsequent times I got lucky. Ive attempted to get gluten-free donuts at least two dozen times over the past 9 months or so, but to no avail. It doesnt matter the time of day I go, whether its in the morning, or the early afternoon, they are always out. Ever heard of supply and demand? Or has the demand significantly decreased for gluten-free donuts from your store? Sooo disappointed.

I usually love coming here for a sandwhich, coffee and a pastry! Today was different. I drove an hour out of my way just to come here and the lady at the front was rude and didnt even try to smile or act like she cared about customer service. I tried to play it off, maybe she was having a bad day, but she continued to be snarky. I have never had an issue before but after this visit I dont think I will be going back there. Im not going to pay $16 for rude service. She needs to learn better customer service or work elsewhere, I am not a fan of poor customer service when I am in the customer service industry myself. Vegan places are fantastic but if you cant treat your customers with quality care, whats the point? Im very disappointed with how I was treated.

We stopped in with our little boys ages 3-5 for some bakery treats. Staff were super friendly, all items are vegan which we love and is so hard to find. This is our second visit. Good flavors and consistent. The boys loved the cupcakes, the donuts are most and sweet and more like cake than typical fried chain-brand style. And the turtle brownie is super fun..topped with a nut and caramel sweet heaven over an earthy chocolatey cakey not-too-crumbly goodness.. apparently the landlord doesnt allow signs, so look for a sidewalk a-frame standing sign. They also have some sandwich options and breads which look great but havent tried yet. Kid friendly and moderate prices - not the cheapest, but not shocking either.
