We had dinner here on the 14th of August, 2010, and ate outside. The view north into the Sierras at sunset was spectacular! We ordered shrimp and steak kebabs, with veggies, salads, ice tea, a glass of wine, and some sherbet for dessert - $50. The four shrimp were quite large, and the curls of the shrimp were filled with crushed garlic. The steak, top sirloin, was spiced very nicely as well. The kebabs included green peppers and sweet onions, also very nicely spiced. I had mine on extra veggies; my wife had hers on rice pilaf. Our wine was a very generous pour of pinot noir, more than enough for both of us. Our server was a young woman who wasnt quite as experienced as we were expecting, and she kept wandering off during times we would have expected her to stay. She also didnt know about the wine list, but she was cheerful and attentive. The restaurant is at the south end of Sierra Way, which drops down the east side of Lake Isabella from Kernville, and ends at 178 at the restaurant. Just east is the Audubon bird sanctuary and Kelso Canyon Rd. Well go back.

Great restaurant! We drive over often from Ridgecrest and enjoy the food and ambiance. We especially like eating outside under the trees with the great view of the mountains and bird sanctuary. Our favorite...the steak salad with he home made chunky blue cheese dressing...outstanding!! Joy, our favorite hostess has a great memory and brings our standard choice of wine straightaway. Super value! Dont miss this!

We pulled in off the road pretty late. It was almost closing time but these friendly people hooked us up with fantastic fresh baked bread, salad and prime rib with baked potatoe for 4. The atmosphere is wonderful and the owners made us feel like part of the family. There is a beautiful full service bar and we were told that there is also outside dinning. We will eat here every time we are in Lake Isabella.

I used to eat there all the time when my dad-in-law lived in Onyx. THE BEST beef and everything cooked to perfection, easily the best coffee shop-type place in the whole valley. They have a patio thats pleasant, as well.

The food is great and the staff friendly and welcoming. Our "Birthday Club" meets there for lunch several times a year and they always go out of their way to make it a pleasant experience.
