Angara is one of the best Indian restaurants that I have tried and I have eaten at quite a few! This is one of the first places where I like many of the dishes on the menu (not just a few) and the menu is large! Some Indian restraurants water down their authentic flavors - not so at Angara. The spices and flavors are rich. The atmosphere is classy and service is professional and friendly. The chef really knows what he is doing and will make his dishes to your liking - mild to hot! Some indian food is oily - his is not! My friend who has dined with me loves the nan and lamb dishes along with cabbage chicken. Just a few of the items that I find delicious are the chicken dishes along with chicken biryani rice and saag. The chicken lentil soup and onion potato fritters are wonderful! People seem to know that Angara has a lunch buffet but do not realize they are open in the evening! Angara is right on Torrance Boulevard east of Crenshaw Boulevard on the right hand side of the street. Please drop by and try these fabulous flavors! You will love them!

Went looking for an Indian spot near my cousins house in Torrance. There were a few options but Angara was closest so we decided to give it a try. Im soooo glad we did. Everything we ordered was really tasty and the waitstaff was very friendly and lively. We started off with an order of Samosas which were very good with the two chutneys they brought out. For the main course, we shared a few dishes. The Lamb Vindaloo, the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Chada Masala, the Dahl and the Vegetable Biryani + garlic naan of course! Everything was really tasty and full of flavor! The sauces were not too runny or too thick. Next time id definitely go with a plain rice, not because the Biryani wasnt good, but because i like the rice to soak up the sauces a little more. Just a fair warning: when they say spicy, they mean spicy. I love spicy food, and this was definitely up there - my nose was running like nobodys business. Overall a great Indian food experience!

I have no idea what you guys are smoking! Have you tried their lunch buffet? I had the misfortune to try it. Almost all of the only 3 veg dishes had run out and no refills were forthcoming- forever. Can you believe they cut totillas into 4 and dare call it naan?! How could you cook plain rice bad? I guess you could if you microwave it. Yes. I am not joking. What they lack in quality, they do try to mock-respect you by siring you to death. Possibly the worst ever Indian food I had in LA. Wish I could give them less than 1 star, but I couldnt! And did I tell you they tried their best to overcharge ? Places like this give great Indian food bad name!

My husband and I went for their lunch buffet. Their food is mediocre at the absolute best. The chicken tikka masala tasted like tomato soup with chunks of dry chicken in it. The other curries on offer were all relatively bland and forgetful. The tandoori chicken was bland the meat tasted off for some reason--maybe frost bitten chicken? The rice pudding was runny and mushy. The mango lassi was watered down, extremely sugary and barely had a hint of mango flavor. The "best" things were probably the rice and the naan. Even at only $10 for lunch, I would not return.

Service is outrageous - a hungry customer is greeted with the closing time and not a welcome or sorry (it was 1:45 when i stepped in and the closing time is 2:30) I was not served water EVER throughout my lunch, and not a smile ever Food is tasty and really finger licking good Rice was one of the best i ever had Daal was tasty Tandoori chicken was tasty egg curry was weird.. but still finger licking good all the food was tasty as buffet but not exactly restaurant style food, pure home style all in all it ws a pleasant dining experience

We placed a vegetarian order for 2 and were asked to sit and that it would take 5 minutes. We waited and waited for 40 minutes. When we got up tp make our payment and asked them if it always took this long we were told that it was a busy day! And there were no apologiesThis place is definitely not getting our equity ever again! The atmosphere is something we completely dislike - The decor is dull and weary and we have never been able to order in. Its way too noisy and the tables are very close to each other..

Revised review... Things have changed a bit since the last time Ive been there. Ive moved so I did not eat here for a year. I moved closer again so now I go every week like before. Food is still good but... Cons: price (for a buffet), naan is always out, less selection (if your into selection). Most of all... no more lamb chunks in the groud lamb curry :( Do not go during the week for the buffet... youll wait a long time. Pros: Still nice people & service, cozy atmosphere, and taste.

I am normally not a fan of vegetarian fare and I have never been much of a fan of Indian cuisine - until today! I went in for the buffet lunch shortly after 2PM. They close at 3PM. I expected mediocre slop that had been sitting too long. Instead, I found incredibly flavorful, wonderfully textured and reasonably priced food. I have paid FAR more for Indian food that was nowhere near this good. I will become a regular there, guaranteed.

Excellent food! When we want Indian, we come to Angara. We get takeout regularly, and weve eaten in, as well (great beer selection!). We can speak to most of their vegetarian dishes, and they are all good. Even better is the consistency from visit to visit. We have kids, and they do mild when requested. The adults like medium, and its a good, enjoyable, and distinctly spicy medium. Highly recommend!

We are so glad our friends told us to go to Angara. We are vegetarian, and this place has some great vegetarian choices. Plus, we know we can take our non-vegetarian friends and family here, and everyone is happy. The staff always goes out of their way to be nice to us and our children. Family friendly, great food, and not another annoying chain-restaurant. Perfect!

Some of the best curry Ive ever had! They manage to create a balance between the spices and the flavors. You can still taste the individual flavors that the tomatoes and onions bring to the sauce while the spices enhance the sauce. Weve had the tandoori chicken, most of the curries, and the biryani. I highly recommend this place!

This is our favorite Indian restaurant in the south bay. Not inexpensive but the food is fresh and flavorful. My kids (and I) love the chicken tikka that comes sizzling fajita style with crisp onions on a metal dish. They cook their meat very tender and also have a great selection of vegetarian dishes.

Relatively solid Indian restaurant with regards to their lunch buffet. Mostly standard fare but they did a solid job on the fried vegetable crisps and the carrot desert was very good. One problem I had is with the cleanliness of their plates. Had to go through 5 or 6 parts to find a clean one.

Excellent food. Nine of us were treated to a great meal. The Chicken Korma was superb, the mixed tandoori totally delicious, and the Chana Saagwala was amazing. Every dish was very good. Service was fast and courteous, no complaints there. We will definitely be going back.
