If I could give them NO stars, I would. I was horrified by our treatment. The waiter was rude and very condescending. We kept having to ask for things. We had a small child with us and the waiter continued to question our requests and giving us what he felt we needed and not what was asked for. YES we want Chop Sticks for the child, YES we want a normal sized plate for the child.. and OH yes, 3 times asking for water. Got it AFTER we were finished! for the CHILD! The CHILD is a small person who knows how to use CHOPSTICKS! This was my first time there and will be my last. The ONLY thing I thought was decent enough to eat was the Chicken Salad. Admittedly it was quite good HOWEVER, the pineapple chicken - WE WERE ABLE to pick through and FIND some chicken as it was MOSTLY red colored PINEAPPLE with RED COLORED sauce. The Beef tasted more like FRIED FAT and the TAO TAO SPECIAL CHOW MEIN - NOT SPECIAL AT ALL IN FACT.... It was so greasy and the noodles were so thick - PROBABLY from being so FAT SOAKED. MY 14 year old son said the Calamari starter was REALLY GOOD! Then at the end I was so psychologically traumatized by the tall man who brought my VISA GIFT CARD back to me and YELLED at me in front of my entire family and the ENTIRE RESTAURANT turned their heads and stopped talking in SHOCK as I was BERATED BEYOND COMPREHENSION for using the gift card and in front of the ENTIRE restaurant WE ALL learned that he could only charge $80 on the gift card as you had to leave 20% for the tip, despite the FACT I also provided MY VISA card to put the rest on. I was so horrified that I was unable to sleep without nightmares. I am a SERVICE CONNECTED disabled VETERAN who suffers from PTSD. THANKS to people like this, my disorder was brought to the forefront. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. I left an APPROPRIATE TIP! and here is my advise - if you treat people bad they will not support you no matter what! In this day we live in its better to treat people with respect and even if your food isnt the greatest they will come back for the fast and courteous and RESPECTFUL service - you will find NONE of this at TAO TAO!.. SHAME SHAME!

Absolutely dreadful. I have never had worse Chinese food in my life. And, I have eaten at some awful Chinese restaurants including PF Changs. That includes steam table Chinese food at the mall. Every dish had the same salty soy sauce flavor. There was no nuance. No differentiation of flavors from the different ingredients. Just the same brown color and salty taste in everything. Every dish. Awful. The waiter looked at us like we were crazy when we said we didnt want any of the huge amount of uneaten food boxed to take home. But, we would have just thrown it away when we got home. Might as well let them do it. The biggest clue to us of what was in store for us, and one I wished we noticed before we set foot inside, was the absence of any Chinese customers. Thats generally a dead giveaway. We usually give most places a second chance. But, not this one.

We have gone to Tao Tao for years and I havent had their food for the past 6 mos. I was excited to have my normal orders of Sweet/Sour chicken, Tao Tao Beef and Chinese chicken salad and with their usually quick service. On 10/16/16, the service was so slow, I thought they forgot about our table of 6. We had to ask for our waiter to give our order. The food came out so slow and the quality was not the usual Tao Taos. The Sweet/sour chicken wasnt the deep fried and with sauce, it was pieces of chicken in the thick red sauce- hardly any chicken. The Chinese chicken salad was too oily and no taste of the mustard and sesame taste. ugh. The beef wasnt the same...... didnt have the flavor. there must be a new chef or they need a new chef. Bring the old Tao Taos back! I was highly disappointed.

The food and the staff are terrible !! I ordered seafood fried rice 13.05$ but the taste was so fishy and there was only shrimps and some smash smelly dish no squids no crab. It was served over full on small dish. I asked for some lemon on rice to stop some fishy suddenly, the Chinese guy asked me back do you want lemon on fried rice? With his face like huhhhh why do you have to ask customs back what they want!!! And the last thing I was disappointed about service I order food 9.15 restaurant close 10 while I am eating around 9.30 10 minutes after I got food!! The Chinese guy placed bill for me thats so rude! I know they hurried to close or sth else not sure. I dont like it no tips at all. Not happy.

I picked up to-go food last night for 4 people. I ordered the Tao Tao beef, sweet and sour pork, chinese chicken salad and Tao Tao special rice. The container of beef was barely a quarter full, mostly rice noodles and certainly not enough for 3 people let alone 4. The sweet and sour pork container was also not full, and the pork was very tough. The salad and rice were good. I spent $45 and it was not enough to feed everyone, and half of the food wasnt good. I called the manager and he didnt offer more than a free pork dish at my next visit. There wont be a next visit. As a long-time Sunnyvale resident, for similar pricing, you are better off going to PF Changs.

This is a favorite place because of 4 dishes. First, the Chinese Chicken Salad is made with cashews, not peanuts. This allows people with peanut allergies the opportunity to enjoy a Chinese Chicken Salad. Second, the Wor Won Ton soup which is full of won ton, meat, shrimp and vegetables. Third, the Tao Tao Beef which is sweet from the soy/sugary sauce served with crispy rice noodles, and last, but not least the Breaded Shrimp dish with candied nuts. The other dishes change from time to time including the vegetables, chow mein, fried rice, other meat/veggie dishes, but without those four, it would not be dinner.

My family has been going to Tao Tao for more years than I can remember. Before that we went to Mings, which was hands down the most amazing Chinese restaurant and after it was sold the cooks went to Tao Tao. Several things at Tao Tao are almost as good. There is no Chinese chicken salad or Tao Tao beef, that compares to these dishes. I agree with one persons review to order C dinner for the best dishes on the menu. Another review said he liked PF Changs better. No way. Trust me. Im a foodie!

I have been going to Tao Taos for years. This last visit was such a disappointment I have to do this review. Our Chinese Chicken Salad had three bones in it! The waiter was not that upset about it and said he would mention it to the management. Not one time did anyone follow up with us to see if we were ok and no offer was made to replace. Normally when this happens at a restaurant you are not charged for the item. Not in this case.
