Boy was I excited to hear about a brewery on Cedros, but in my head I couldnt quite figure out based on the address where along the street it was. I slowly began to realize it might be in that awfully small location almost on the SW corner or Cedros and Lomas. It is and its micro literally and figuratively. Like many breweries with a tasting they are closed on Monday-Tuesday. I probably chose the wrong day to come in as the St. Patty crowd was in force jamming the place like a phone booth. There are many brewery tasting rooms which are very friendly to dogs and families and these are great pluses on more casual days, but big party weekends like this its simply too crowded with rowdier than normal drinkers that I find it inappropriate to have children with you, at least on that day. Based on my other experiences I do love the places open front doors and open counter, love the hidden bathroom, but having it next to the bar top is weird, but necessary based on the size and set up. I like that they use Square and e-mail/text receipts (itemized too). I like the patio in the rear, but the main hall can get crowded, especially with those wine barrels all over the place. The countertop is pretty cool, somewhat textured and their pricing is only a tad more than other places. When walking back in from the patio, stay on the right because I definitely saw some more intoxicated people almost behind the bar before they realized it. Maybe make that yellow chain stand out or get a more permanent separator. If I dont ride here on my bike I like to pick up Growlers. I like how they only do a few beers, but are very detailed about ABV, IBU, Hops type etc. Sometimes I feel that naming beers is trying to evoke too much of a reaction because as we all know the name can be a factor in our feelings. I was initially drawn to the Black IPA by name, but dont be fooled, its got a low ABV, and low IBU rating. I found I could taste the hops. It had great mouth feel, but not a lot of aroma, no aftertaste. Imperial Stout is a winner, great aroma, not that alcohol twinge at the end of some imperials. Doth I taste coconut. An excellent beer. Im a fan of Brown (go UPS), so going to the American Brown again lead to some disappointment. I guess its because I expected a nuttieness. I did however like the overall taste and great hoppiness, just pales to the Imperial. I can see how the IPA is a fan favorite, very balanced, full of flavor, but the other standout besides the Imperial was the Amber. Low IBU, Low ABV, the aroma was what I expected, but the flavor was full, rich, cleansing of my palate from the less spectacular. They do a lot of things right here. Amber, Imperial Stout, Square application, décor and they keep to some simpleness of hops and flavor over high IBU and ABV content. It is tiny and does get packed and can run out of glassware due to the nice 3oz tasting sizes where many people will try them all, all at once if its their 1st time. I label it 5 stars, but plenty of room to grow. They do so many things well and focus on what a growing minority of drinkers feel that the minimalistic approach and grass roots ethos are the way to go. Dont open a huge brewery, name your beers crazy exotic names and for sure have it close enough to walk/ Dont make beers outside the normal content that everyone gets rowdy. Tasting rooms are not drinking room which usually turn into drunk-ing rooms. There are no chairs to sit on.

Im a huge brewery lover, and had heard about Culture Brewing co. From my significant other. We decided to head out to Culture Brewing in Solana beach and try it out. Loved the chill vibe that this place gave out when I came in. its not your usual brewery where the usuals stare at you when they see someone new come in. The Staff was super friendly as well and they also knew beers too, which is something that I really give much props to. I had a Russian imperial stout and a Guatamalan coffee stout, and those beers were amazing. The back porch with the tent was also a nice area where we relaxed and talked with company. The great thing about this Brewery, are the Groupons they have every now and then, and even without the Groupon, their prices are good. Def recommend everyone to try Culture Brewing in Solana Beach. You wont be disappointed. P.S- Artwork on the walls is pretty cool as well.

When strolling through Cedros and eyeballing antiques, boutiques, and various interior decor inspiration, what more could you ask for than a hop-tastic, dog-friendy, and local art-infused retreat conveniently at the end of the block? While this newer microbrewery is still getting on its feet (dont expect Karl Strauss or Stone Brewing flavors), its a passion project from the three owners and you can tell a lot of heart goes into this beer. With the on-site brewhouse is on display, along with an ever-rotating display of art (I caught Bryan Snyders mural & doodles) makes for a hip industrial vibe. I cant wait to see whats next for this budding Solana Beach brewery & tasting room.

Good tasting beer, but not at the price. Average price per taster was about $2 (technically $1.75, but who is going to take their quarter back?) I know they probably have high rent costs given their location on Cedros, but the price didnt match the experience. It felt very cluttered inside also. When I inquired about a flight, the bartender said "well yeah, you can order six tasters". I then tried to ask what the price is and he gave me a rude tone saying "taster prices are listed on the board" I was under the impression the point of a flight was to provide variety at a lower cost than the taster price? Either way I wont be returning anytime soon.

A fresh alternative to the surplus of breweries popping up around San Diego. It fits perfectly in with the culture of Solana Beach, maintaining an open air, clean, artistic atmosphere with great beer to boot. Friendly, knowledgeable staff are great at introducing newbies into the world of craft beer and can hold their own with the beer geeks asking the tough questions. Dont leave without trying the Black IPA at least once. They have a beer for everyone though which makes this a great place for groups of friends with varying palates.

This is a great brewery with beer styles for every taste. They are very laid back, always polite, and may even give you a mini-tour if you ask nicely (and they arent too busy). One bonus is the availability of take home brews. They have the standard glass 64 oz. growlers available, as well as 32 oz. glass "grenades" and 64 oz. economy "space-bag" growlers. They will also fill certain non-branded reusable containers, so search your cabinet for that old 64 oz. camping thermos.

I visited over 10 breweries when I was in San Diego last week and this one of the top, if not the top. Beer was good and lots of choices. Cute little space to hang out. The beer girl knew her stuff and worked her butt off to provide good service. Diff beers all the time and some special ones which was nice because I found that the larger ones like Green Flash only had their standards on. Nice little gem in a town with a nice diff vibe than the rest of SD.
