This place is a great find ! 1st off parking can be a little tight. So be prepared to park out on the street. The food is delicious! I ordered "the davis" which has spicy mac n cheese and chili . The mac n cheese is definitely not spicy. It has a little kick to it but nothing serious. The French fries are fresh ! I love In n Out but the Blue Dog has way better fries ! My burger had the distinct taste of meat in it . I had it medium -well and asked that the middle be pink and that is exactly how it came out .its not over seasoned ,not too much salt not a lot of pepper , I couldnt have asked for it to be cooked more perfectly . Our server knew about the beer that is provided. He wasnt pushy and tried his best to find the perfect beer for me. The bathrooms are well taken care of . They were NOT dirty and they did smell fresh ! If you plan on taking a date here sit outside because its not as loud . But if youre here with friends for a few brews Id suggest sitting inside. Thanks blue dog for a great experience! WOULD RECOMMEND

Edit: While my assessment below stands... Please note that my reason for not liking the Blue Dog Tavern is because its too damn successful. Seriously. Theres really nothing that they can do about the issues I have with the place, short of knocking down the building and replacing it, which theres no room for on the lot. Im sure its the perfect place to stop and avoid some traffic on your evening commute on either the 101 or 405. The beer selection is awesome, and the food was quite good. For me, too many people and too loud. :/ I live a half a block away, and while they have some great beers, the place is too loud to even hear anyone 2 feet away from you without yelling. The service is abysmal because there are too many patrons most of the time as well. They do a lot of business even with these problems, so they must be doing something right. Ive tried it a few times since it would be such a convenient place for me to go hang out, but its not worth it... Unless you can manage to get one of a very few tables outside.

I have frequented this place 4-5 times. Each time just for a beer. I have not tried the food, it does not look particularly healthy, nor all that good. And after each of the 4-5 times, I have told myself I am never returning. The beer selection is fine, overpriced, but a nice selection. The reason I am not returning is the service. Today, I was in the neighborhood, Going against my sworn oath that I would never return - I did. Walked in, told the greeter that I just wanted a beer, she suggested I sit at the bar, which I did. Two menus were plopped down in front of me, I found the beer I wanted to order and returned the menu to the counter. Someone behind the bar grabbed both menus, but did not take my order. I sat there for over fifteen minutes, feeling invisible, a twenty dollar bill on the counter, waiting for someone to take my order, it did not happen. I left . As Jehovah as my witness, never again will I visit the Blue Dog Tavern!

Sometimes a girl needs a burger and beer, and this place was a score for just that! A few of my friends have been talking g Bolt this place for some time and so we decided to head over tonight. I wasnt disappointed We started with the nachos which were pretty decent. But I felt like it was missing something. It was, extra cheese sauce. That cheesy goodness took the nachos to a whole different level! If you get the nachos, ask for a side of it, definitely worth it! I got the firecracker burger. Wasnt as spicy as I thought it would be but in all fairness I take my spice to a different level. It was pretty good but thought it cod use more of the Chipotle sauce. My friend got the shermam salad and loved it except that it too needed more dressing. (definitely a lack of sauce trend happening) Overall it was a cool spot with great atmosphere, service and good beer selection!

Update: After not going there for quite some time we decided to drop in and see if things might have changed. Good news. It has. Its like it was when it first opened. Its much more fun and the food quality has improved. Apparently there was a manager running the place for a while that made the place a misery for staff (yes they told us) and guests alike. That manager is now gone. Thank goodness. Weve been back three times in the last month or so and have enjoyed it each time. Its back to being a friendly, fun, chill place to hang. Previous review: We liked it a lot when it first opened. The food has really gone down hill. They also advertise for people to go there to "watch" games including championship games. Well you get to do exactly that but they will NOT play the sound for the games. Thats nuts. You just get to watch.

Im not sure what the hype is about when it comes to Blue Dog Tavern. Other than the good beer selection, there is not much appeal to this place. First of all, finding parking even on a weeknight will take up at least 10 minutes of your time. The adjacent parking lot is always full. The service is horrible. Our waitress was not very attentive and the service was slow. Our table was also very small so it felt very cramped. The worst part is the food. We had chicken wings, nachos and a burger. The burger and wings were just average. The nachos were horrible. The dish was cold and the ingredients were tasteless. I didnt care for the cheese sauce that they use. I would recommend skipping this place and go to Mad Bull for drinks or Laurel Tavern for food.

Oh Blue Dog, I love you. I know youre just a burger joint, but I still do. The burgers are on the thin side for my taste (I tend to prefer a little thicker patty where you can taste more of the beefiness), but you cant take an entire establishment by one small item alone. As it is a "Beer Tavern," the main thing you could judge them on is their beer -- and their selection is fantastic. Its constantly rotating and always interesting. On the burger front, I really do love The Squealer (a burger with BBQ!) and the Chi Chi (oh, sweet mercy, breakfast on a bun!). Oh, and their fries? Seriously, now Im dreaming about their fries. I challenge you not to eat them all. Yes, they are that amazing. Go, now, for the good of the city!

This is the best neighborhood pub around. The staff is very relaxed, and never "works" you. After a couple of visits, they greet you as if you have been coming there forever. There is only great beer and ale, no mass producer product. The burgers are made with grass fed, house ground beef, and the fries are made from scratch. Caution: the garlic fries can sometimes be LOADED with garlic. The parking lot is big, but, it is shared with other businesses. However, its a lot better than paying for a valet....My only ocmplaint is that its so small that you may have to wait on a busy night....its super popular.
