For lunch time place seems slightly over price (Well seems entire downtown have hiked up prices). As someone else commented, batturra is bit oily! so if a fan of batturra and if not a fan of oil, you will have to absorb it through napkins. Mine was ok, as in cooked ok. Maybe this is how they make it (its fried so oil is obviously going to be there) and if one gives more time for oil to absorb it may not look this way (which means you have to wait before it gets served). I have tried battura at few other indian restaurants, and out there also it was oily so maybe thats the norm!. Its filling though. They could provide pickle with it, like other places do.

This was my second time , was hoping to get the same type of food , but this time it was bad , onion Naan was not cooked well , roti was like totally bad uncooked , raita dull that is the basic thing even the owners or managers should have compare their own dull and no taste raita, the worst thing were the vegetables pakora , totally uncooked , this place is in the hottest spot they need to see their other competitors serving same menu , way better taste than this guys. Thank god they made the garlic naan and Karahi paneer , butter chicken for my brother well so we filled our tummy with two Taj Mahal beer , and the side salad which they cut do not cook.

From an Indian: I went on a Saturday, usually if there are no Indians dining, I wont go. But I still went into this restaurent. I ordered biryani : It was old basmati rice, mixd blended with curry gravy, and I can feel meat being old and stored for long time - hard and rubbery. Even the side dishes were not good. For less than $12 you can have amazing biryani in San Jose elsewhere. This restaurant does not care about the quality or the customers. Indians: Please donate your money to some charity instead of going here. Sorry there is no zero-star. Why would this have 3.5 in google?

I have come here a few times over the past year or two. Ive consistently eaten the Chicken Wrap. In the beginning it was very delicious. I was impressed with the taste and quality. There was a change in ownership at some point and since then, the food quality has gone down. I recently went there and ordered the same Chicken Wrap. The Chicken was bland and had no taste. There was definitely something different about the taste and texture and also smell. I went with a group and we all agreed it was not what it used to be.

I used the menu on line, but when I walked in to order I was told they do not have dinners anymore their web site was not updated. (Dinners included naan, salad, rice). Businesses in the U.S use to have integrity to accomadate what they advertised, but this was not the case. Each item was an additional charge driving the price up significantly. The Raita was liquid like a milk apposed to a yogurt sauce. Lamb Korma was watered down and not very spicy. However the Aloo Tikki was very good. Lots of flavor.

This was where i had my first Indian Food in San Jose. I kinda liked it at first not only because they gave a buy 1 get 1 free discount for SJSU Students but also the Chana Bhatura i had here was slick. But the taste began to wane as the time went by, and I stopped going to this place once they put red color in my chicken tikka masala. To sum it up i would say that its an OK place with limited variety ... My Suggestion .. Go look for better Indian Restaurants . coz this aint it !

Tried Bombay veggie and it was like typical bombay potato curry rassa (not thick and bit more watery)..am not a big fan of potatoes that too big chunks however liked having it with naan...they cud add bit of rice on side at lunch time (thats extra) Veggie biryani at lunch is bit more (~10 bucks) and same as dinner price at other sit down restaurants ...samosa plate is also on higher end..the discounts are only for students ...

Im not Indian so take my opinion lightly but this place is delicious. The garlic naan is a little heavy on the garlic but still tasty. The samosas are a little on the greasy side but in the terrible for your health delicious way. The Vindaloo is incredibly flavourful. The regular naan is light and airy. The veggie wrap is tasty and filling. I always order take out from this place and have yet to be disappointed.

Great choice for quick convenient Indian food. The chicken vindaloo had a great flavor and was very reasonably priced. Good atmosphere in a simple setting. You order your dishes at the front counter, nothing fancy. My only complaint would be that some of the rice had a "bottom of the rice cooker" crunch but nothing that would keep me from returning. A very good choice for Indian cuisine.

Chai was not particularly well made. Aloo Tikki was good, but very small portions for the price. The place is a bit shabby for a restaurant. The roof is torn off in places. The cushions are covered with plastic stapled to the edge of wooden benches. Good place, but Punjab Cafe is better. Frankly, I am surprised at the extreme lack of good Indian restaurants in downtown San Jose.

The naan here was really good. I tried a little bit of everyones dishes and liked all of them. Cant remember what was ordered, but I would definitely come back here to get a reminder. Its in downtown so probably find some street parking and walk over. Its a pretty nice place to go to if you just want some indian vs. going to a buffet to get a little bit of everything.

I chose this because it had good yelp rating. I ordered Chole Bature. Chole was not cooked completely. Bature was like a flattened bread loaf (very very thick) which sucked a LOT of oil. I had to use almost 5 paper napkins on one bature to suck up the oil. I had discomfort after eating this food here. I wonder how this place is allowed to be open. Never going again

Excellent location; Clean; People at the counter are truly professional; Food-Dont even ask about it. Probably the worst or one of the worst Indian outlets I had been to in my 20 years of living in the US. The restaurant operators need to pay attention to serve something acceptable at least. One start is location only. Sorry to post it, but its the fact.

I tried the shrimp curry with rice. It was a little on the expensive side. The shrimp was good, but the curry was okay. Not very spicy. Also had the mango lassi which was pretty good. They have special coupons (buy 1 entree get 1 free). Plenty of seating inside. The chai is not complimentary, but was pretty good. Fast and Friendly service.

The butter chicken was so heavily spiced I took two bites and stopped, the nann was ok, but you really had to tear into it. The staff was kind and attentive, which was the saving grace of this place. Also, beware, when you pay with a card, you are REQUIRED to add a tip. You arent able to just put a zero then give one after service.
