I was disappointed with this new Hing Lung. Starting with the service and then the below average food quality. We were there after the peak dinner hour. It was not busy but the server forgot our request of a set of plastic fork and spoon for kid use. The server finally brought us the plastic utensils after 2nd request. For the food, I ordered a minced beef congee, a chow mein, and deep fried oysters. I was expecting the congee would have the similar quality as the original Hing Lung in San Francisco. A well balanced minced beef mixed with a touch of fried rice noodles. However the minced beef became beef balls and the taste was on the salty side. The quantity of msg in congee seemed to be higher than average comparing to similar restaurants. The chow mein definitely was salty to my taste. We only had couple bites and left the rest untouched. The deep fried oysters were best out of the three. The taste was about right. Before I went to this new Hing Lung, I was expecting to find the taste and the quantity that I had many years ago in San Francisco. Very likely this restaurant only carry the brand / name but not the original team! Try it and be your own judge!

Went to try this place since it was advertised as new opening in San Jose and heard of it when it was located in SF. Service is lacking, but thats sort of expected for a Chinese restaurant. Location, its sort of in the neighborhood area, not really close to other Asian stuff like 99 ranch, etc. Food... Ordered black pepper beef pan fried noodle - the noodle taste floury, the sauce for the black pepper is too sweet, the "beef" seems more like pork, that entree is quite questionable. The other dish we ordered was braised beef brisket w/ turnip (daikon)... that was okay, but a lot more daikon than braised beef brisket and the daikon was flavorless as they cooked the daikon separately and added into the dish later on it seems like. Overall, I dont think I would recommend coming to this place, maybe it might be worth a try at first, but other than that, I would avoid going here since its not really in a convenient location and the food isnt that great.

The food here is pretty okay, but the service isnt that great. When we came, there were 3~4 waiters serving, one of which was supposed to work the cashier but she had to help around. The place is pretty big and was kind of crowded when we came. Service was kind of slow, we had to get up a lot and they didnt even give us the menu in the beginning, we had to walk up and ask for it. Apparently, the place is good in SF, so its kinda cool that they opened a location in San Jose.
