Hol’ up I didn’t write a review for this place yet???? [Insert review] Wait time- For a Sunday in SF the wait time wasn’t horrendous. My friend and I waited about 30 mins but only because they couldnt read my name on the waiting list. So when you place you name down on the list make sure it’s legible because they will surly skip over it. Food- Now the food is the saving grace of this place because it was quite delicious. I ordered the Cowgirl which consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, with 2 chicken-apple sausages. It was an extremely hearty meal for only $12. They have 3 choices for pancakes, buttermilk, cornmeal and buckwheat. I couldn’t decide between the cornmeal and buttermilk so our waitress kindly suggested getting one of each. SCORE! The cornmeal outshined the buttermilk easily. It’s mealy texture it subtle sweetness combined to make a really unique taste. The chicken-apple sausage was tasty as well. Not too sweet but very tender and juicy. Service- Our waitress was super nice but the host/bus boy certainly carried an attitude. I was on my way to the airport and had all my bags and when we were being seated he told us to we could sit bar side. When my friend pointed out we had too many bags to sit there he made a smug remark. Also when he bused our table I heard him complaining to another table that he doesn’t make enough for the “meager” tip we left. We left close to an 18% tip for a meal that was about $22 so his remarks were unwarranted and rude. But yea this place is pretty quaint, with outdoor seating. Probably wouldn’t go on a rainy day because the inside is really small. Also there are a bunch of cute signs leading to the bathroom with instructions how to get there and remarks about bathroom etiquette.

we biked all the way from upper haight to this place to try their brunch. It was the week before Christmas and it was a fairwell thing for for my roommates, we were circling around all their favorite places before they left San Fran. I loved the place. it is pretty small and the line big but they really move people around fast. They had coffee outside for those waiting and random seating spots. We had tons of food (it was a party of 5 and we randomly took the server suggestions for food) the spotlight went for the beignets (they felt light, not greasy at all and with just the right amount of sweetness), the oatmeal pancakes (it is amazing how they were able to make brown bland health food taste so good even before you soak it with other random flavor enhancing condiments), the bacon (I asked extra crispy, to the point that it just sits up and can be eaten like a Popsicle but not too thin and they got it just right). If you have a fun group of friends and dont mind the wait just give this place a try, I really appreciate when they take your requests seriously and bring exactly what you asked for.

How did I basically live at the Mission Bay Avalon for 2yrs and not know this existed?! A friend & I shared the mini-donut-esque things..beignets. BOMB. And I had a poached egg with grits (sidenote: "like the kind you ate in prison" - as soon as I saw that description, I knew it was my kind of place) and cornbread. No complaints, though it was kinda a carb/sweet overload but that was my bad. My friend got a chili scramble or something and it had cornbread in it. Never seen that before. He ate all of it despite being hungover so Im guessing it was pretty good. Would definitely come back here, if just for the beignets. Our waiter was honest with his recommendations and overall the service was dec. The place is a little dinky so not really somewhere you go for the ambiance. Update: Have been back several times now with the boo. Weve tried most of the things on the menu by now and loved it everytime. Once, I asked for a side of grilled chicken, and I appreciated it when they acted that was a totally normal thing to do.

My husband and I went for a late brunch and will definitely be back. Seating is a little tight as the cafe is pretty small (I had a little difficulty maneuvering due to the bulky walking cast I currently sport), but everyone there is extraordinarily friendly so it feels cozy rather than cramped. We split an order of 3 beignets which were fresh and delicious -- but be warned that the beignets here are HUGE!! (Well definitely just split one next time!) We each had a scramble with mushrooms and zucchini - he with biscuits and I with the scone of the day. Scones are one of my favourite things to bake and I wasnt disappointed at all with the strawberry-chocolate chip scone that accompanied my breakfast. Portions are sizeable, the food is good, and the service is friendly -- Win! The only disappointment is that I found the coffee to be pretty mediocre, but that seems to be fairly standard for the restaurants Ive tried in San Francisco.

I really like this place. It is my go-to spot for breakfast. One huge thing for me is that they serve grits. The menu includes a funny message about grits in the margin that Id hate to ruin for you, so youll have to find it yourself when you go there. The staff are friendly and the walls are bedecked with cool stuff to look at while you eat. The have beignets that people seem to like a lot. I find theyre best if you shake off most of the powdered sugar, bite a small hole in the corner, and into that hole you put maple syrup and butter. Pinch the hole closed and wait a little while, as if you were making a Cup-O-Noodle, before devouring the goopy sweet and savory dumpling of diet-amnesia-inducing gustatory pleasure. Also, I love their chicory coffee.

The beignets are darn good. Not too sweet, just enough butter, somewhat crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They could have been a bit more burned on the outside, but that would be nitpicking. The Louisiana hot sausage with biscuits, scrambled eggs and potatoes were all good. The drip coffee was decent. The service was good considering how busy they were. They offer self-service coffee outside, which is a nice touch considering we waited for 40 minutes. It was worth it in the end, however. The paintings and decor was a lot of fun. We sat in the back below the Pink Power Ranger. Pretty cool. I will definitely go again, if Im up for a wait. I suggest you go as well.

I love this place. Down to earth, unpretentious, thoughtful good food and very competent service. The place gets busy on the weekends bc its one of the few breakfast places in Dogpatch and definitely the most wallet friendly choice. They get brownie points for the diversity of their menu, the GRITS (I love grits!), their gluten free options (if you have those limitations) and their straight up great breakfast food. They also serve lunch but I mainly come for breakfast. Cool space too with very cheeky signs and posters. A fun place to bring out of town guests.

THOSE beignets. Dang. The server barely has to ask if you want them because they know you do. They are incredible! The restaurant is cozy and the servers are super nice. The walls are adorned with interesting art aka a gorgeous painting of ze King of Pop, among others. There is a pretty good variety on the menu and the servings are hearty. We went early on a Saturday morning (9 a.m.) so we got a table without a wait, but it does get crowded around brunch time. Definitely worth a trip to check it out!
