The red velvet cupcakes are outstanding: moist, fluffy, with cream cheese frosting that is not overly sweet. The strawberry one was also good (yellow cake base with strawberry frosting). I also tried their special edition pineapple upside-down cupcakes, but those were just so-so. The idea was good, but something needs to be tweaked in the execution because the pineapple chunks seemed soggy inside the cupcakes. I think pineapple chunks should be crisp and sweet in such cakes. Update 6/26/2016: The seasonal strawberry lemonade cupcake is good, but I probably wont order it again. However, the seasonal strawberry shortcake is AMAZING.

I dont give out 4 stars easily, but Fillmore Bakeshop earns every one! We already had it good in PAC Heights with the renewed presence of La Bourgeoisie, but with Fillmore Bakeshop, its just over the top! This place is just delightful: You walk in, and are welcomed with an overwhelming array of fresh baked goodies! Its hard to choose just one and in fact, lately Ive been choosing TWO, since I cant make my mind up most times! And theyre super friendly, too. Cant go wrong.This place is happily part of my daily routine now.

I see their truck drive by el camino all the time, so i decided to finally give them a try and buy something. I ordered their fluffy coconut cupcakes. It looked really good, but when i tasted it, the frosting tasted old and super buttery. the outside of the cupcake was super dry. You definitely need a glasd of milk or water with this cupcake. The cupcake itself minus the fristing tasted okay, but the frosting not so much. Maybe ordering is a bad idea. Ill have to try a walk in next time. ;)

SusieCakes generously donated 80 chocolate chip cookies to the Week of the Family author event at the Reading Bug in San Carlos last Thursday night. Big selection of sweets, but really too, too sweet for my taste. I bought an iced cookie and it was over the top sugar. I suggest adding more bright flavors and reducing the sweet.
