This place is good for a quick drink. Ive been several times for drinks after work and occasional weekend. But since the Golden 1 center opened I believe the true value of this place is finally starting to shine as its a great group hangout before and after kings games. Drinks prices are much better than Golden 1 and the selection is also very good. Ive never seen the mermaids in all my visits. Im not sure if they still have them, but if so Id quickly update to 5 stars to actually witness them. Its a bummer to see that awesome tank with no action. Updated 6/23/17: I am a man of my word and updating to 5 stars. Not only did I finally see a mermaid tonight, they actually have a mermaid schedule posted out front. She was absolutely amazing and worth the wait. Wish I could tip her as she was absolutely awesome swimming around and blowing heart shaped kisses. This place is hands down the best bar downtown!

Had an event here on a weekday evening. Can I just say that the staff here rocks? From Dave the man, to Scott behind the bar to Ellen the mermaid. My friend, who had never been here before, couldnt believe that such a spot exists. Mind you, she lives in the burbs (like me). Friend: "What?!? They have a REAL mermaid in the bar?" Me: "Well, mermaids arent real, but they have someone dressed as one who swims around in the tank." Friend: "Oh. Ha ha." Yes, this bar is long and narrow. But they did a good job with the space at hand. I could see it becoming a bottleneck if too many crowds come to visit the mermaid though. Drinks-wise, I sampled one of their specialty cocktails. For the life of me, I dont recall the exact name, but it had a seasonal name to it. Autumn-something or other? Yummy. I have heard that they have a good happy hour, and Im always up for being happy, so I will have to come back!

I have to say the concept is fascinating, a huge fish tank above the bar where "mermaids" swim. The night I was there, the mermaids must have been sick with "tail-rot" because after spending almost 3 hours of a prime Friday night, no mermaids swam my way. Frankly, I would have rather seen Mermens! I was done drinking for the night, so can only comment on my friends horrendous lemon drop. It was really bad! I felt bad for her, because she had never had one before and when made right, they are really great! My other companion had a beer, so you really cant go wrong with that. The crowd was fun and lively though, not the creepy barflies you can run into other places. I would go back here and order a mixed drink while waiting to see a mermaid, but if they choke again, I wont return.

Amazing Bar, Beautiful interior..Ive been there for happy hour, and the staff is cool, and friendly. Ive also gone here on the weekends and its really busy, and its a fun place and easy to socialize with friends and meet new friends (especially because the atmosphere and intimacy of the space). The Mermaid shows are random and spontaneous but any time Ive gone on the weekends Ive seen a mermaid. My favorite thing is the atmosphere..and being able to play my music of my phone if you ask the Bartender. Plus I dont like paying cover or rude doormen, and this place you dont deal with either ever..If you can know the door- he is super polite and will help you avoid lines..

Unique location with an enormous fish tank above the bar that a flirtatious mermaid swims in from time to time with the fish. The night we were there, they had dueling pianos in the front to entertain the crowd. The staff was attentive and served an interesting cross section of clients. There were a couple of games in the back. Very modern and clean in the heart of downtown. Plenty of mixed drinks, but they were still out of a couple of things we asked for. While they had other options for drinks, they definitely lean heavily into the cocktail side of things.

So, in moving from a little diddly in the central valley just south of this city, I grew up with the idea of treasuring local dives and cherishing them as a place "where everybody knows your name." Well Im always glad when I came, or come, or go, to Dive Bar. Nobody knows me there and really Ive only been there a handful of times. But, the bar absolutely is a corner home where our neighborhood can count on good music, no incredibly crowded scene of people and reasonable prices. Oh Dive Bar--"I like you just the way you are!"

My first mermaid bar! I came on a Thursday night and enjoyed the atmosphere and experience. It was dueling piano night and the pianists played everything from rock classics to top 40. They have an interesting variety of cocktails and the two I tried were good. But come here for some good music and to watch the mermaids! The tank is pretty small and they only come every 15 minutes but I think its cool to have multiple forms of entertainment while you are chilling at a bar. Next time I am coming to spot the elusive Merman!

My review, has to be some place close to my heart and since I snagged a husband in this joint nothin could be finer than honoring this mark with the Burgundy Room. The Dive Bar, is dank, dark, and delicious. Loud raucous good times will ensue after you cross into the velvet den. I prefer Monday/Wednesday, good local regulars, smart, professional bartenders and lots of attitude. If you like punk, rock and roll, stiff drinks and a little bit of fire - get your arse in the Dive Bar...never know who you might meet!

This is a gimmicky bar, yes, but it is a good gimmick. The place is beautiful with an amazing aquarium and attentive bartenders. Even when this place is crazy busy, the bartenders notice who needs a drink and manage to get you a drink in a reasonable amount of time. They know their drinks very well. I have yet to stump a bartender here. Also, check out their happy hour from 4 to 7. $4 wells and free food. It usually includes a hot dog, but hey. It is free.

Somehow I hurt my knees and it started bleeding. When I asked them for first-aid kit or a band-aid , I cant believe they didnt had either of them . I am very disappointed with the service. I tried to reach every single people working over there but they showed no interest to help me . I dont even want to give them single star though. First-aid is something very basic , which should be available at every public place. Bad service .

I would give this place fiver stars if the drinks werent so expensive. The atmosphere, the swimming mermaids, the music, the staff, and the seating are all great and provide a very enjoyable bar experience. If the drinks were not so overpriced, this would be the perfect bar. It was a lot of fun and a good mix of people hanging out at this establishment. I recommend checking it out if you are in Sac for one night.

Like the place quite a bit, especially on the nights where they have 3 dollar drinks between 9 and 11. I generally found friendly, capable bartenders and nice atmosphere, plus the fish tank above the bar is cool. Ive also met good people when going there, that were fun to chat with and share a drink with. Im not really much of a drinker, but the atmosphere is a big draw.
