I went here last night with my sister and her partner. It was mellow, not too busy, and we sat at the bar. Right away the bartender seemed upset to be serving us and maybe just upset in general. We figured it was an off night, it happens, so ignored it and perused the menu. I asked what his favorite drink was and it was as if I was bothering him with the question, didnt really get an answer. Two of us ordered cocktails, which we learned the bartender invented, Matt T. They were pretty good! My sister ordered a whiskey and they apparently leave the bottle near your drink (to see it up close and know the label or brand, Im guessing). She lifted it to look at the label, set it down on the rubber slabs they use for mixing drinks, and the bartender comes to immediately lift and slam the bottle back toward us on the counter. It was so aggressive that we were all in shock at first. I dont know if the guy has a problem with women in particular, but he had a problem with us being there. No clue why. We asked for the check immediately, slammed drinks, and as I was leaving he said sorry and made up something about stuff dropping to explain his behavior. My sisters partner spoke to him at length afterward (we left) and he eventually explained hes not usually like this and wanted to make it up to us, so two stars for that I suppose. I have no desire to go back though.

Upscale eats and an impressive whiskey menu, Block wont disappoint the well-traveled or those seeking a quiet spot to enjoy the finer things. Food is prepared reasonably quickly and the bar staff is friendly and accommodating. The seating and decor is modern and includes an all glass viewing of the food prep area. If youre feeling a louder vibe, use the easy entrance to Lowbrau.

Some of the best cocktails in Sacramento and the charcuterie is to die for. The sandwiches are good, as are the salads, but the meat and cheese boards are the real heroes here. Dont cheat yourself and order a cocktail from Ian or Matt T (dont forget the T) and prepare yourself for some of the best meat and cheese around. Some is even cured in-house!

What a DB for a bartender. Chunky monkey with his stupid hat and apron and his heir of self importance. Couldnt be bothered to grab a towel and wipe down his sticky bar after I asked him to. Instead he started doing other things and when I raised my eyebrow at him he said, "Im working on it." As if I was wasting HIS time. Laters.

Service was slow. Food was great though, the a la carté has a great selection of various cured meats and cheeses, not all are local. Would definitely recommend the terrine, didnt get the chance to try the patê as they were out of it, but Ive heard good things.

Amazing food and priced well, with a great atmosphere at night. My husband and I, both avid whiskey lovers, went here on a Friday and got some links, their duck far fries (nom) and a couple whiskey cocktails. Made for an excellent date night with the hubs.

This bar is attached to a dining place with great selection of beers, but the Butchers bar provides an intimate setting with a large variety of premium liquor. Interesting design comes with a fresh selection of Italian based meats and platters.

As usual the charcuterie boards are delectable, and never disappoint. Very prompt service with friendly service. Not to mention a great variety of whiskey, gin, and superb cocktails. If you have never been, you need to try this place.

A little over pricey, however if youre looking for a splurge date night, the meats and cheeses were delicious, atmosphere is nice (before it turns into a full night time bar) and the drink menu is fantastic!
