Mehfil is an Authentic Family Style Indian Restaurant. Everyday they serve a wonderful lunch buffet. My first experience was unique, I arrived at 2:59 a minute before they closed, and last seatings are 30 min prior to close. Still they welcomed me with a smile. The kind host (Lali) brought me to my table and asked and provided a wonderful explanation of the food. Coming as late as I was I found the buffet well supplied, they still brought me fresh naan (as much as you need included in buffet price), and made sure the tea was sweet, hot and tasty (free refills). Very hard to choose what was better the staff or the food. It is very rare to find both at any restaurant. I told my wife that it was as good or better than any of the east coast restaurants. As a vegetarian, naturally she wanted to find out for herself. So we can back that weekend for there full serve dinner. I was truly shocked that the food was even better. I truly felt like Bill Murray in "What About Bob - Dinner Scene: Fay, this is delicious!" While my wife loved it as a vegetarian, I am a meat eater. I have been to all of the local Indian restaurants, and not one of them has better tandoori chicken or butter chicken. The chicken is large healthy and most. We met one of the chefs (Raj wife of Lali and co-owner) If your are lucky, one day a week (and that day varies) they serve an incredible Okra vegetarian dish that just melts in your mouth. And the best off bone Lamb Biryani, ever! We have fallen in love with the friendly family environment, and go there 2-3+ per week. We have met the entire wonderful family. To get the best experience avoid the last 30 min of each shift, the staff and chefs work hard, and they do need draw the line for last seatings at 30 min prior to close. However, it is so funny when I watch people come knock on the door, after it is closed for the mid-day break (300-430) Just begging an begging to get in. I have been there when it is packed during "closed hours - no chef on duty" fighting for the last of the noontime buffet, it is really that good.

I was in the area and craving some Indian food, so I yelped some good places and stumbled upon this little gem. For starters, if you have never tried Indian food before, the best way to do it is to go to their lunch buffets. Theyre cheap and its all you can eat! Not to mention, the massive selection of food you get to select from. Ive already been to this place twice before I could even get my review in, it was that good! Theyre selections are somewhat typical with their Masala, Samosas, and Pakoras, but hot damn were they delicious. The food was extremely flavorful, just the right amount of spice, and they bring hot naan out to your table. I havent even had my morning cup of coffee and yet Im already craving this place. If you use your yelp app, you get a $1 off the buffet and dont forget to ask them for a stamp. If you go ten times, you get the next time free!! I really dont know how to describe this place enough to make you want to go, but I can tell you, if you dont go, you dont know what youre missing out on!

In a nutshell - I love this restaurant. I think Ive been here about 20 times over the last 6 months because its SO good. The lunch buffet is the best. There is always a fresh and delicious variety of foods. This restaurant is also great because it caters to vegetarian cuisine. They always have many tasty vegetarian selections at their lunch buffet. However, the Butter Chicken is ridiculously good. The Vegetable Korma is wonderful. Saag Paneer and Dal Mahkani...best Ive had. Samosas....OMG YUM. Im getting hungry writing this review. They always mix it up each day and have a like a lunch buffet "special dish." I also love how they have Masala tea at the buffet. The biryani is wonderful...theres this one suprise carrot dish that is superb. The naan is the freshest and tastiest texture Ive had. I could go on and on. This is the best down to earth Indian food. I highly recommend it. Nothing super duper fancy...just really perfectly spiced, honest, delicious food.

Sacramento has an abundance of Indian restaurants. For years, Roseville has been home to my favorite in the area, Bombay Bistro. Where Bombay Bistro has always had great food, thier customer service is some of the worst youll find at any restaraunt. Still, the food was so wonderful my friends and I just put up with it. Now, only a couple blocks away, opens Mehfil. Not only do I get warm, friendly smiles from employees when I walk in, it bests Bombay Bistro food in nearly every way. The Naan is never burnt, and the Vegetable Korma and Butter Chicken are to die for. Unlike most Indian Restaurants in the area Mehfils buffet quality is consistently excellent. I think buffet hours are every day from 11am until 3pm. Ive been to every Indian restaurant in the Sacramento area and have no problems stating that this is the best of all of them, hands down.

Weve eaten at Mehfil Indian restaurant a number of times and can highly recommend it. The food is excellent (particularly the chicken tikka masala), and the chai is some of the best Ive ever tasted (including chai I had on my three trips to India). Moreover, the staff is just exceedingly helpful and friendly. One night we had already finished eating, paid the bill and were getting ready to leave with our leftover naan (we always order extra so we can have it the next day) when we accidentally dropped it on the floor. They offered to make us more, and we left with fresh, hot naan in hand. Not many restaurants would make you fresh bread just so you could take it home for leftovers!

If this is the best Indian food in Roseville I will be sorely disappointed. I picked up my order at 7 on Friday night and the restaurant was empty. I got lamb vindaloo and two orders of naan; the lamb was rubbery and it was obvious that it was low quality meat that had been stewed long enough to become palatable. The potatoes were undercooked, which, given the state of the meat says that they are freshly added to old stew. The naan was clearly store bought and somewhat ages, it was very chewy, had little flavor and no flour coating as would be found on freshly baked naan. I recommend avoiding this place... Im not expecting a pleasant gastric response either.

The inside of the restaurant is filthy I would have walked out if I wasnt with a friend. Walls were splattered with dried food or sauce, broken water cooler shimmed up on 2x4, utensils and water bottles seemed some what clean. Whole place needs a thorough clean. Food was okay but I was so grossed out I couldnt enjoy it. The garlic naan had too much turmeric but was pretty good. Saag paneer was old or over cooked. Samosa standard frozen fare. Everything was room temperature definitely not cooked as ordered. To be honest Id have been better off buying frozen Indian food.
