Dennys has better tasting food and selection at a cheaper price. Two breakfasts (an omelette plate and chorizo+eggs plate) and two glasses of cranberry juice cost about $40. The chorizo+egg breakfast was about 8 forks-full worth of food, the spinach+goat cheese omelette breakfast was like an entire 5 bites worth of food. Both meals sat on the plate in portions you would expect from a fine-dining experience, except just tossed onto the plate without any love. This would have been acceptable for $40(+$5 tip) had the food tasted good...or even tasted at all. It was bland. Waitress was nice and pleasant, but as it got busier (went from 3 tables including ours, to about 8 tables including outside seating) we ended up having to wait around 15 minutes for our check even though we were obviously done with our meals and looking around to flag someone down. Long story short, youre better off hitting Brads if you want a breakfast that actually has any taste or wont break your wallet for sub-Dennys-class quality. I think Shell Cafe can do better. It has potential, friendly staff, the food was fresh (just no flavor...as if just slapped ingredients together as if the cook had never made the dishes before). We will try them again.

My food was cold my daughter never got her fruit and when I complaed I got new food but still my biscuits and gravy were cold. Im sorry but when you charge $15 a plate I would expect it to be hot. The food had no flavor! Not to mention when I complaed to the manager and while I was explaining what was wrong my server came over and started saying things in Spanish, I may be Caucasian but I do speak Spanish. So she stated that she did take my food out and that Im just trying to get free food. So after the manager took my breakfast off my bill along with my daughters side of fruit I informed my waitress and her supervisor that it was super rude that knowing she speaks English I speak English and her boss spoke English for her to come over here and speak in Spanish, was the iceing. Furthermore I will never return, I would not even feed my dog there food. This place sucks

Ok so were from out of town and didnt know what to eat so we went with a place by our hotel. So lemme say the clam chowder was really good but they have a sign saying best clam chowder in Pismo, obviously they have never eaten at Steamers across the street. So i also ordered a side salad and it was actually good, so far so good. But i ordered the Fish and chips and my GF ordered the Calamari and chips. They were both really really tough and tasted like they came out of the microwave. Very small portions and i couldnt even cut my fish with a fork. Horrible! For a place where seafood should be amazing it was actually crap.

Will we get sick was the question on our minds when we left. My son ordered the Shrimp and Tri Tip dinner. It took 30 minutes to get entree, meat that looked overcooked but had been frozen and was raw inside. The waitress came back to the table after we were done to ask about the food and when we said it wasnt cooked she said shed tell the cook. Manager argued with us about the quality and doneness of it. Finally gave us a 13 dollar discount on a meal my son was afraid to eat. Total of that entree was 26 dollars. All other restaurants were packed and this one was nearly empty. Follow your instincts.

My husband and I had an early lunch here on a Monday. The staff was awkward, but nice. I ordered the fish tacos. The mayo drizzle has a spicy taste, not too bad. But the rest of the dish was mediocre...the fish is cubed and placed on regular flour tortillas then topped with a mountain of cabbage, melted processed cheese and a small amount of pico de gallo. I added fries to my order ($3 more). For close to $13...I dont think I had my moneys worth. Sadly, we will not return. In case you are wondering, my husband had the beef brisket sandwich...he describes it as "Good, but not worth returning."

Sat down about 10 minutes ago. Lots of servers walking around but not even a menu yet. I had to call the restaurant to get a menu. Finally I got a menu but the server brought me my drink in a kids cup. All other tables got normal cups. Lets see how the food is. There was a regular server who was great but I think she left. Great for dogs but bad service.

We love Shell Cafe! We especially like that we can bring our little dog on the patio. They even have a doggie menu! They have an extensive menu with a variety of seafood and smoked meats. My husband usually has either the brisket sandwich or the ribs. Another of his favorites is the homemade potato chips. I like the fresh fish and salads.

Totally our new breakfast spot in Pismo. The food in great and my plate was packed full. The prices are a little high but worth it. The chorizo scramble is delicious. The salsa is more like Pico but still perfect for me. The waiter, John, was so sweet and attentive. We will definitely be coming here again soon.

The new menu has something for everyone.I think they serve breakfast all day. For us vegetarians they have a veggie lasagne for dinner. But aside from food, there is great entertainment. On Thursdays it seems they invite musicians to come up and play with the band..and dancing is encouraged. Lots of fun.

Most come here for breakfast and lunch but you are missing out if you dont experience the dinners too. In our 1 week vacation we had to visit Shell Cafe twice for dinner. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the staff was awesome. If you want personal attention and great food this is the place!

Food and service here are great! You can eat indoors or they have a great patio with a nice view of the ocean. By the way, they serve breakfast all day! We will definitely return the next time we are in town!

Charlie at Shell Cafe serves up an incredible clam chowder. Portions are big. Great breakfast, lunch or dinner. We also tried the linguini with clams, yum! The childrens fish was delicious. Well be back!

One of the best clam chowders we have ever had! Very fresh greens and cherry tomatoes in the side salad. A good sized breakfast burrito you can get dry or wet (and the potatoes in it were delicious). Yum!
